We are also going to start running a NO RAKE tournament on Sundays, starting in June.

The turnout for these tourneys are so good that this would be the perfect day to get a PLO game off the ground.
We got a 5/10 PLO going yesterday and had a list large enough to run a 2/5 as well, but when we called the list not enough people showed up to get the game going. But since this was all a first time attempt, I am sure we could get both running the next time.

hey yankee,
i'm at school in tallahassee and coming down to the sarasota area for a few days. my free day is a sunday and i was planning to come up to play the double mega stack and/or the cheap stack, depending on when i can make my way up to the room. i'm talking about the 80 dollar 10k+10k(10 dollar add on) tournament and the 20 dollar 6k+2k(5 dollar add on) tournaments. if it is at all possible, do you think you could find out the average field size and %cash for both tournaments? my goal is to get there in time for the 80 dollar game, so that's the one i'm more interested in. i did a little bit of searching through the forum, but i can't find anything on it.

on another note, i would like to say thanks for your poker room having the tournament structures posted online. i've played a tournament at skc a few times and the structure seemed rapid, but i really can't remember the exact structure and i have no clue if it's posted anywhere....so yeah, thanks to your room for having it up.

I am also poor (full time college student) and want to be staked LOL

Stupid online poker being taken away. Until then, I'll just grind the cheap stacks (which have the highest rake of all time...)

Senator, I am sorry I did not see this post until now.
I am going in tonight and I will get you the figures, if it is not already too late.

I know that the 20 dollar "cheap stack" usually gets close to 100, which means we would pay 10 spots. We pay roughly 10% of the field always, it is a little bit more calculated than that but roughly.
I have never dealt the Thursday tournament, as I don't work that day, but I have heard it is one of the best turnout tournaments we have. I will let you know what the figures are later.

For those of you wanting to get a PLO game going I suggest trying to get one going on SUnday's now, as we have the $200 NO RAKE tournament at 1PM on that day as well as on Wednesday's.
I can almost guarantee that with some effort a PLO game can get going on that day.

thanks yankee!

if you can get the 90 dollar buyin info too, that would be great. currently, my plan is to drive up for the deepstack game at 1pm, and then go to clearwater to meet someone for dinner and that plan obviously depends on tournament size haha. but seriously, thanks for looking into it!

You should really advertise that no rake tourney - I play at the hard rock all the time and have never heard of it. With online no more I'm sure there are tons of people that would play in a $200 no rake tourney if they only knew about it. Rake in live tourneys is usually absurd as we all know. I'll be there soon enough for 1 of those tourneys, maybe even Sunday - and will jump right into PLO when I donk out somehow around the bubble

Senator,

I am really sorry I took so long to respond on here. My bad! I have been busy with other things.

The Thursday tourney apparently has been getting about 60 people or so with 6 spots being paid.

I realize this information may have come a little late, as you my have played it a few days ago. If that is the case come by and play our $200 NO RAKE tournament on Sunday and I'll buy you a drink.

They have not done it since I have worked there, and the general feeling I get is that this is the first time we have tried these NO RAKE tourneys and they have been a pretty big success so far.

I think the one on Sunday at 1pm will be even bigger.
$200 NO RAKE. 10k, 25min levels.

I went there for one of the no rake tourneys like a week and a half ago. Really liked the tourney itself, but I was very annoyed by the promotions. Giving away free tickets to tournaments might be great for the regulars, but it is a terrible way to build more customers. It screws over anyone who can only play at select times or is from out of town. So all those people are going to go to the Hard Rock, where promotions are paid as cash instead of potentially useless tournament tickets, then the regulars will follow them.

The only promotions that are paid out in tournament tickets are in the tournaments themselves. If you are playing cash we have plenty of great daily promotions that get paid out in cash (or chips).

Hard Rock's approach most certainly caters to regulars more than what our place does, not that there is anything wrong with their approach at all.
Their current promotion calls for you to play there 120 hours in a month in order to receive it (granted the prize is pretty cool).
Our place has daily promotions that are hit several times in a day.

Truth. Those are legit good prizes. If I didnt have this little job I might be grinding enough to get one of those bad boys.

Hard Rock is most certainly a good room and their promotions are good too. I was not trying to clown on them at all. I was simply letting the previous poster know that I think our promotions are actually the one's that are more geared towards walk-in traffic and the hard rock for the reg's.

I don't think I was wrong on that.

Yankee, Thanks for the drink offer but I'm only 20! The Thursday tournament was actually also held on Sundays, and I was excited for it, only to realize the NO RAKE tourney took its place. I didn't have 200 dollars to put into a tournament, so I was going on Saturday instead. I had a slow start and ended up having to go to Derby Lane (Sorry!! haha) so I could still buy-in. I would have missed late registration I did, however, get 8th in the tournament at Derby Lane and win 400 bucks! Next time I'm in town, I'll be at your room. I love deep stack poker tournaments and I am stoked to try that game out!
