re: Showboat Atlantic City Poker Thread

Another side note to a possible new BBJ.. It is possible that we may be having a property wide BBJ in addition to our regular one. The max drop per hand will still be $1, however, there will be 2 separate BBJ's it will be funding; our regular one, and a much larger property-wide BBJ. The requirements will be much higher for the property-wide BBJ, probably quad queens or better, making the amount be very high. One good thing about the property-wide one is that when it would be hit, everyone in the room gets a piece.

For example:

Showboat BBJ =$75,000
Property-wide BBJ = $300,000

Quad queens loses to straight flush on Table 1. Table 1 now gets the Showboat BBJ of 75K (50% to losing hand, 25% to winning hand, 25% split amongst rest of table, just like before..) now the property-wide BBJ will get chopped throughout the Showboat room for everyone playing eligible cash games (Hold'em only, obviously..)

The property-wide BBJ will go up very fast, and should get very high. 4 properties donating to that thing, it should go up 10-20K per day.

This is another possibility still being talked about...

I've played it and frankly, I'm not crazy about the fact that most are regs and know each other. And who cares if a husband / wife go at each other? The money stays in the same house at the end of the night.

Hey Mike...is there anyway that when you talk to the upper management if you can put in one more request...The Boat was one of the last rooms in Atlantic City to give out Free Red Bull...I found out on Monday when I was there that now they are charging 5.25 for a red bull unless your a diamond or a 7 star in which they just take it out of your comps. I dont wanna use my diamond card to get a red bull for 5 dollars. I have been playing at the boat pretty regularly lately and red bull was part of the reason. Can you see if maybe they can get the casino to give free red bull to poker players or drop it to a normal price of like 2 dollars or something?

My Red Bull story:

Last Friday: was told Red Bull was $5, so I changed my order.
Last Saturday: guy next to me ordered RB, wasn't charged extra, so I got one also. It came in a can as always (no charge). When I ordered a second one, it came in a cup with ice (no charge), and tasted like it had been strained through my ass. The Pepsi of RedBull perhaps?

Cliff notes: no consistency with Showboat Red Bull service last weekend.

Ok, if this new RedBull policy is true, I have a problem with it. An 8 oz. RedBull RETAILS for around $2.50. I know I can get a 4-pack at Walmart for $6, so I can safely assume that Showboat is not paying more then $1.50 a can. So you will offer other beverages for free to patrons, but charge at least a 350% markup price for RedBull?

I will admit, RedBull can be pricy, so I can see why that would be one of the first things to look at when cutting costs. However, a $5 charge is excessive. I would not mind actually paying for RedBull, but at a reasonable cost. Maybe what the company pays for them with a small markup - $2 seems reasonable for people that are actually gaming on the casino floor. Charge $5 to the people at the bars.

Rob, was this saturday afternoon? b/c I think I was the guy who ordered the redbull before you, and you asked me about it, then when the waitress came over with one, you ordered one.. I was the big guy getting pretty unlucky next to you for a few hours...
Later on that nite, another waitress asked to see a diamond card ( I only have platinum) and the guy playing next to me just flashed her his card, so she brought it over...

Exactly...I would not mind paying 2 dollars for a red bull...they do give me a little energy at times. As far as the person who mentioned about the red bull in the cup...i know what yoru talking about as far as the taste...caesars serves that crap in the cup and the taste doesnt even come close to real red bull. It taste like stale skittles. When i asked the waitress on wednesday why it was 5 dollars she told me with the cutbacks and the layoffs this was something they changed. SO LET ME GET THIS STRAIGHT. I CAN SIT IN YOUR CASINO AND GET HEINEKEN'S IN A BOTTLE FOR NO CHARGE, IN WHICH YOU THE CASINO PROBABLY PAY ABOUT 1.50 PER BOTTLE. BUT YOU ARE CUTTING BACK ON RED BULLS...WHICH IS A LESS COMMON DRINK, IF YOU WERE SMART YOU WOULD CHARGE FOR BEERS SINCE MORE PEOPLE DRINK BEER THAN RED BULL.

I will continue to play at the boat for tournaments...but its sad to say that you have probably lost my business as far as cash games go.

Does Red Bull make people want to make stupid bets against the house?
I'm sure the casino figures that for every beer it gives away, it makes more than $1.50 in additional gambles from the drunk parton.

Yes, that was me. Have we played together before? I was thinking that the whole time I was sitting next to you. Nice to meet you

This isn't a fair comparison. Someone who wants a Heineken presumably wants beer, so if no heineken is available he/she gets a cheaper beer. Someone who wants redbull will either get the cheaper energy drink or a coffee.

P.S. Redbull taste likes garbage to begin with so I can't imagine why anyone would care if they got one that tastes different.

Yeah rob, good to meet you too. I'm sure if you play often enough @ 1/2NL, you've probably played @ showboat w/me, I've been there pretty often over the last 2 years or so...
And the red bull saga, I drink them when I know I will be out drinking later, B/c I sometimes drink vodka redbull when I'm out @ nite... I can do w/out it, but i'd rather have it as an option... And that stuff in the cup is not even in the neighborhood of red bull... I kinda hope this clears up, or else I'll have to go drop a few grand @ the craps tables again, to go get a platinum card...lol

You can get a platinum card just from playing 1/2 NL. I earned enough credits this year by the end of March.
