Re: New Showboat Poker Room?

To me, the Caesars room looks small, but in fact, it does have 23 tables.

The Harrah's BBJ is going to be a nice chunk of change for whoever gets the bad beat put on them. I'm going May 8-9 and may change my hotel room from Showboat to Harrah's. Of course, you are going to have your jackpot chasers, so hopefully that means more fishy no-foldem play and fattens the wallet.

prob be hit by then but who knows...they have the chasers now lol
There is a big group of "rounders" in AC. That do jump from room to room when it is high and most of these guys/gals arent bad players.

Caesars $44,155
Showboat $86,269
Bally's* $74,184

*Bally's BBJ has different qualifying requirements and payout percentages then the other three, (quads or better beating quads, 30% to hand loser, 20% to hand winner, 50% split equal among all other active in the room).

Thanks for this, I heard they all pooled into one.

I think a good idea might be to start a thread. For example, if you're going to be in AC on a certain day and you want to play 3/6 O8, start a thread titled "GAME INTEREST THREAD--3/6 O8 in AC 5/17." It could be an interest board on 2+2 instead of at the casino.

Sure, there will be people who say they're interested and then won't show. But if you get four or five people that show then the game will go because one straggler will join in because it's something different.

There is a thread from a couple weeks ago that turned into this sort of thing for HOSE in AC. I'm sure it will get bumped when someone that likes HOSE goes to AC for a weekend.

Showboat is now the largest of the harrah's properties...28 tables regularly, plus they have room, authorization (from NJCC), and the inclination to add 7 "tournament" tables in the area right outside the 1/2 wall for those days (think holiday weekends), where they have a room mostly filled with Cash Games and need table to run their 7pm tournaments....

There have been times recently (in the old room) when on Holiday weekends (or weekends when BBJ was up over $100K) that they had 18-20 cash games going and were only able to have 4 or 5 tables for their Sat $105+$20 - $15,000 chip tourney...now they would be able to have at least 7 tables even if all 28 tables in the room were filled with cash games.

Well, if you figured each casino probably probably gets 1-2 on a list of interest, if you got all those together at one casino, it would probably work out. For example, like if everyone knew that Trump Taj was the place to go if you want to play mid-stakes Omaha or anything non-holdem, it would be more likely to get a game beyond an interest list.

Agreed. So something that could be discussed in the thread is where people want to play and why.

No problem! A pooled BBJ pot would probably be sweet, and could reach some nice amounts, but communication between the four casinos and who was responsible for it could make things worse. Let's say it was a combined pool and it was hit at Bally's tonight, who's going to notify the other three casinos? Who's going to reset the TV displays? Who's going to make sure the amount collected from each casinos daily accurately reflects what the advertisied amount is?

How are they suppose to get games going in nobody wants to play them? We get all kinds of lists of interest for stud and omaha every week but nothing runs because we just don't have the player base yet. If some of you guys show up and help out and start a regular 5/10 game or whatever, trust me it will get spread.

Re: New Showboat Poker Room?

My point was that there is this fabled interest in spreading Omaha games when in reality the interest just isn't there. Maybe a once in a while thing, but not permanent - unless you can lure players from other casinos.

Maybe it has 25. I would be willing to bet $500 that there are less than 30 tables at Caesars AC. I've counted the tables there myself and it definitely had < 30. Up until the Showboat expansion, all Harrahs rooms had pretty much the same amount of tables, give or take one or two. Even now they are still pretty close to even. The spaces they occupy of course are different.

The reason Caesars BBJ goes up more is just because they are busier. It's pretty much the only Harrahs room that spreads a 2/5 NLHE game every day. Always a 3/6 LHE, etc.

The intrest isnt fabled, we just moved the room 2 weeks ago. We are feeling things out and I am sure we will spread some higher and more interesting games soon. I also think Caesars wont be the only room that spreads games like that in the near future. We went from never having a 2/5 game during the week to running them most nights around 6pm. Things are changing, but its going to take some time.

Does doing that "use up" your 25 reward credits, or is it really just a free $5, and you still have your credits to use on something else?

Is parking free at Harrah's in the Marina?

Is there any place anywhere near the Taj where parking is still free for basic card holders?

I have a platinum card now but when I was a gold I don't think the 25 credits gets taken off your comps. You just had to earn that much to get the parking. I could be wrong though.

Parking is free at Harrah's. Even at Showboat in the surface lot I'm pretty sure there is hardly ever anyone in the booth taking money so it can essentially be free to park.

No, it will not take any reward/tier credits away from your account.

Yes, self-parking is still free at Harrah's Marina.

No, only 2 places left in AC where parking is free for lowest-level cardholders with no conditions is Trump Marina and Harrah's Marina. Like dudemanjack stated, the surface lot at Showboat may be an option, but it's hit or miss if someone is in the booth or not.

Re: New Showboat Poker Room?

Thanks for the info, guys.

Can you give me any idea how much play is needed to get 25 reward credits, either playing real poker or video poker?

Does anyone know if the Showboat surface lot is usually staffed lately? Last winter it never was, and the lot actually seems more convenient to the Taj poker room than the Taj lot.
