Saw the new poker room this weekend, but didn't have time to play. Heading down again in 1.5 weeks. Staying at the Boat and planning on playing LOTS in the new room.

The new room looks really nice. It seems much bigger than the old one, but with only 3 new tables, it should have lots more room (I hated getting stuck in the seats in the old room next to the columns where every fat person in the room would somehow need to get through).

Hey xxRodxx (or other dealers/floorpeople) - any chance of getting a 1/2 PLO game going? I know the Borg has a pretty regular 2/5 PLO game these days, but what about for us micro-ballers?

taj gets 1/2 2/5 plo sometimes, when there a list the game usually runs, players just don't know it exists. when i hits 4 names push floor to call the game it will fill up. 1/2 I have never gotten that full only 2/5. I would love to play it full table at 1/2 tho.

I happy you like it. Yea the old room was tight, this room there is tons of room to walk between tables. As far as PLO I asked once, but I will ask again. It is the game of the future especially on the internet and if we can cater to that crowd it would be nice. I'll update after this weekend on that possibly.

Edit: Been getting asked a lot about O8 also so maybe ill get some word on that as well.

I had a chance to check out the room on Friday.
It looks great.

As far as PLO goes guys we will spread the game if you want to play it. The best thing I can think of is for me to make a thread on say a weds about who is coming to play what at the boat this weekend and try and get quasi wait lists here. Then all show up at some reasonable hour and open a PLO game or whatever. I did my part, its ur turn.
05-10-2008 , 08:18 PM
When my buddy and I get there on May 20, we will start a list for 1/2 PLO. I have absolutely no idea how to play it, and he has even less of an idea, so anyone with a clue should definitely play in this game.

Does anyone know if the Showboat surface lot is usually staffed lately? Last winter it never was, and the lot actually seems more convenient to the Taj poker room than the Taj lot.
It takes 15 minutes of poker play to get a free parking pass.

Played there this weekend. It was lovely. Plenty of room, nice dealers, never had to wait for a drink, and clean poker chips! The filthy chips at the Taj must be a health danger. I'll certainly be back.

What are Showboat's Friday Tourney tournouts since they moved to the new room. And in general how many people are they getting during the week for their 7PM tourneys? Does anyone have a good estimate?
05-12-2008 , 06:41 PM
Showboat 7PM tournament gets anywhere from 70-90 during the week, more closer to 100 around a holiday weekend. About the same for the Friday tournament, but the new room has really been picking up on the weekends, so it could even get higher.

xxxrod17xx - any discussions of maybe adding the 11PM tournament back on the schedule, even if only just on the weekends? With the Borgata ditching their late night tournaments, it only leaves the Hilton at 10PM and the Taj "Midnight Madness". I really think Showboat could get a lot of players 11PM, and even the $85+$15 buy-in would be cheaper then the Taj tournament and a better structure.

as far as 11pm goes, its prolly not going to happen. I don't have an answer y but everyone stopped them I assume its because they arent profitable enough.
05-12-2008 , 07:05 PM
Thanks, I'd figured I ask at least. True about probably not as profitable as cash games, plus they are already running 3 tournaments a day anyhow.

Because that is their rule for free parking. After playing for as little as 15 minutes, clock out and go to a kiosk and it will have a parking voucher ready to print out.

I am going to say no this is most likely not the case. We have a manual system. When you check out we write down the time and stake you were playing and you get those points within a 24 hour period I believe. If you want free parking at the boat I would get a hold of a supervisor.

They used to have 11pm tournaments....about 1 1/2 years ago....4 tournaments a day....11a, 2p, 7p & 11p.

They stopped the 11p tournaments...mostly for smallish turnout, and a greater profitability of using the dealers on hand for cash games....

I haven't heard any talk about re-establishing them.
05-14-2008 , 02:11 PM
I never really remember seeing more than a few tables for the 11 pm tournaments they used to have. It doesn't really make sense to run a tournament which gets a bunch of players that are already playing in cash games.

You need to earn 25 points to get the free parking, and that takes several hours. When I spoke to the floor manager after playing Monday he told me I needed something like 5 hours, but that he'd hook me up the next time. I was only playing 1/2, higher stakes might be different.
05-14-2008 , 05:55 PM
If anyone finds or figures out exactly how much play it takes to get the 25 points (and at what stakes), please let us know.
