I played a couple of hours 1/2NL and then played the 7PM tournament.
I met Rod17, he was dealing at my table (the one that was freezing just after the 1st break, I was seat #10), seems like a nice guy.
I agree with the above comments, the room has a nice laid-back atmosphere and a young friendly staff.

*Drooling*

I'd actually be more inclined to play this if it was 2/5NLHE and 1/2 PLO, although I'm sure the casual player wouldn't understand making the blinds smaller in PLO

We actually started it at 2/5 NLHE and 1/2 PLO...but with the short table decided to switch to 2/5 PLO....to help the pot size and to keep the confusion down....

But I agree, with a full table, the ideal would be 2/5 and 1/2 PLO...otherwise the PLO would get huge real quick....

It was pretty sick....at least for the first set of 10 hands....we had 4 different hands where there were multiple draws after the flop and betting continued on the turn and the river...

The action was overall good...usually a PF PL raise with a couple of callers...after the hands I mentioned above, usually ended up HU after the flop and the action was a little smaller...

I don't think the 5/5 game would turn into a mixed game, but at a 2/5 game, just ask the other players....suggest 2/5 NLHE and 1/2 PLO with an eight or 10 hand rotation.

Good idea to have one person at the table get a stack of white chips to keep track of the hands played...it helps out the dealer and is the best way to keep track.

If you are going to play a mixed game, it is better to just change games on the push imo. Every weekend when some of you come in start a list for this game, who knows Beaudog the 5/5 players on Saturday might want to play or how many players in the room might want to play a game like this. I doubt it though since its the only day of the week they play here now, but they might want to mix things up a bit.

I also think if you can get it going a few times the game will spread like wild fire by word of mouth. Like the game that goes sometimes at the Borg might play at the Boat and same for the 1/2 PLO game that goes sometimes at the Taj.

700 posts in this thread by the way, I am proud of what it has become! Also just a reminder about the 75K guarantee tourney coming up Saturday Sept, 13! Looking forward to seeing some of you there.

Who's coming? Anyone register yet?

I am thinking about playing this, sounds fun!

I actually would've played one of the $30 SNGs when I was down there on Saturday for an entry, but there didn't seem to be any interest. Have any of these been running at all? I'm thinking maybe a big board near the entrance advertising the 75K guarantee, and the availability of the $30 SNGs might help generate interest in the satellites.

I will be playing.....I generally don't register until that Friday night, just incase an emergency keeps me from making it down.

revots...as for the $30 sngs....just ask at the podium...if kellie is working she will do her best to get them going....

I would love to play a 2/5 NLHE 1/2 PLO mixed game (would love to deal it as well). I work about 6 days a week, someone want to PM me on here, and we can exchange info and keep in contact when it runs. I live in AC and deal at Harrahs (also work at Plaza, don't ask)....
Im off today, guess on chances of it running?

Getting any of these games running is just a question of asking people at the table.

We got the game going because a bunch of us sat down at a new 2/5 table and started playing. I just said "hey how about a mixed game" and it went.

If you are off, I would head over and see what you can stir up...

As for the weekends (which is when i am around)...I am always up for it...

0%, if this game goes it will go on the weekend. Shadow, if you wanna play in this game you might have to sacrifice some sleep between the two jobs. I forgot are you day or swing at Harrahs?

08-19-2008 , 02:18 PM

Thanks.

Any details on it?

its at 60Kish right now but I have been off the last two days, by tom it should be closing on 70k if it has not hit

The min requirements are Aces Full of J's (with AA in hand) against 4 of a Kind or better (using both cards). Both cards must always be used for example, 4 cards to a straight flush on board and you have the bottom card and he has the top card does not count.

GL!

Apologies if this has been addressed before... but can anyone clarify how exactly to go about requesting a poker rate room (midweek) at the Showboat?

I'm hoping to go down with my wife in Sept, and noticed the rooms on their web site list for $89. Should I just book that room online, and ask for the rate adjustment when I get to the poker room? Or do I need to contact the poker room first to secure the lower rate?

Also, since my wife will be with me... anyone have any opinions about the dining options at the Showboat? I noticed a steak place, and Italian place, and the HOB. Any of these good choices for a nice dinner out with the mrs.? Or would we be better off hoofing it to another boardwalk casino for dinner?

I think I might need to miss this one. Might try to get down a little later in the day for some cash game action.

For the room rate, talk to a supervisor when you get there. The food I cannot give you a good answer for since I cannot eat at our restaurants, but everyone seems to LOVE the HOB.

I can understand not being allowed to play poker where you deal but you can't eat in the restaurants?

OK thanks for the info xxxrod - looked up the Italian place (Casa Napoli) on Tripadvisor, people seem to say good things about that also, so I'll probably go with either that or the HOB.

np gl with everything.

rod why can't you eat at your restaurants just curious never heard of a thing like that..
08-20-2008 , 09:05 AM
well I think I can....I just have to ask a supervisor, I am not sure of the exact reason y but I work there. What if I receive bad service or something happens?
