Have not played 5/10 at Borgata so can't make that comparison.

However I can discribe how the 5/10 played at Showboat:

Pretty deep stacks...with 800 to 2000 min/max, no really "short stax", I'd say 1/2 the people bought in for full 2K. Good mix of Red, Green & Black on table, not just stax of reds.

Pre-flop - medium Loose (not like 1/2 or 2/5, but people were definately willing to see a flop)

Minimum raise to get people to fold PF was about 40-50...30 didn't get it done.

Post Flop: good action, but not calling down to the river with Middle pair/bad kicker....

The game if definately more than just 5/5 with bigger blinds...the bigger buy-in generated more thoughtful and intelligent play.

Usually by Turn hand would be heads-up

definately heads-up by river.

Average POT size at showdown i'd say was probably 300-400, with those checked down hands around 100 and a couple of reallyyyyyyyyyyyyy big pots with a couple of all-ins.....one hand had a 3-way all in after the flop when QQ, 10-10, & A-Q got all-in on a A-Q-10 flop....sick hand....

With the special tournament this week bringing players in, I know the 5/5 will be going and we should be able to get the 5/10 going as well.....come on by....its a great atmosphere...no one is really playing with scared money so on the whole its a very upbeat table, not a lot of drinking so no real jerks to mess things up.....

Hope to see you there.....

I played at the Showboat on Tuesday. I arrived shortly after noon and there were four tables of $1/2 NLHE and four tables of $2/4 LHE running at the time. As the day went on, new tables of both were constantly being opened.

Maybe this is the wrong thread to mention this, but I heard some of the dealers talking about how some of the dealers and managers were leaving showboat to move to the new poker room at Harahs. Any truth to that rumor?

A couple of the dealers received promotions to Dual Rate (ie floor people) over at Harrahs....

Not a huge exodus....

Beaudog,

Nice review of the 5/10 game - I may wander over there this weekend. I may play the 50k tournament and when I likely bust out around 1 or 2 head over to the 5-5 or 5-10 to see how the game looks.

Cool...hope to see you there!!!

Both games are good, with a nice mix of players (good and bad).

I'm thinking about heading there tonight, if they have 2/5NL running. Hopefully 2+2'ers will NOT be there.

I must say this thread has really got me pumped to get out to Showboat's new poker room! I was in AC about 3 weeks ago and couldn't make it out to the 'Boat (had dinner reservations at Morton's and met a buddy at Bally's to play some poker there). The following morning I was pumped to play at Borgata or Showboat, but because the wife and I brought our dog with us, there was no place to leave the puppy while I played

I did peruse the new room and love the layout!

Flavio is awesome! He and I did some grey goose shots (or was it) at Harrah's a month or two ago mid morning. He's a pretty great floor too from what I have seen.

Thanks for the thread title change!

I'll be at the showboat this Friday/Saturday and I'm really looking forward to it. What else besides the new poker room does the Showboat have to offer?

Showboat has a weird scene. The slots and table games are full of the senior citizen bus crowd, the restaurants are solid, but nothing outstanding. I've never heard anyone mention pool or spa facilities. But typically, its an older senior crowd.

Except for the house of blues section. It has a youthful vibe, but I never see the club Worship going, and aside from the concert hall, the poker room is the only place that the youth actually go to.

The room is a mix of friendly showboat regulars, and taj rounders with the occasional vacationer looking to play poker during the high busy times.

The new room is nice. The tournement structure, the friendly staff, and the new room with a view are what the room has going for it.

The one comment I will make is that I'm not a fan of the 1table sitngo satellites they ran. I was there last Saturday, and my game broke because they recruited people off of it for these satellites.

I personally don't see the need the crapshoot satellite into a $250 tourny, but I can understand what people like about them.

But I don't think its good practice to come over to my table a recruit people. Just announce and let the people come. No need to break up my game.

But with these $250 tournaments being quarterly, there's no need to worry for a long while after Saterday

What time does the 50 k tourny start tomorrow?

Also can you register for it tonight?
07-11-2008 , 11:01 AM
Tourney starts at 12noon....

You can registar at anytime at the cage near the poker room. At some point on Saturday morning the registration will move to the grand ballroom...not sure when.
