Yeah nobody knew what that was all about. Beats a cheesy royal flush anyway.

5/10 O8 with a half kill. Drag 30 racks of pinks over there.
I know I could play 5/10 O8 at the taj, but that's a full kill, nitty old men and my wife hates the taj. I can put of with 1 and 2, but as anyone who's married knows, if #3 is your problem then you aren't happy.

That's about my only request for the whole room.

I'll be up this weekend to put it on the board.

Anyone know how the turnout is for the Thurs 7pm tournament? Showboat is my preferred room, but I usually only get down to AC one or two weekends a month and almost never during the week.

On average, about 80-100 for the Showboat 7PM tournament.

This thread has really gone a long way, maybe a mod can change the title to "The Official Showboat Atlantic City Poker Thread" seeing that it now contains alot of info about the place.

They would definately spread it if there was enough people. This past weekend they had a 2/4 O8 going for a good length of time. Its a process, by putting it on the board, you find other who are interested and build a game.

That's how we got the 5/5 NL going there....about 5 people who regularly played 2/5 got the 5/5 going one night to have a higher buy-in min/max, and now its a regular game that pretty much runs every weekend from about 7p friday through 8p sunday, with a couple of breaks around 5a-12n when the hard core players go get some sleep.

This could be a good weekend for a 5/10 O8 game as with the big tournament going on in the ballroom there are going to be lots of players around as people bust out and plenty of cash tables going....

Maybe I will just start a new thread and put a link in the OP to this one, we will see.

This weekend would be a perfect time to get a bunch of games going. Try and see if we can get a little mixed game going too maybe. GL on Saturday everyone.

the room is moved to the back in the old house of blues casino floor area. it is trying to be like the borgata with a lot of space and real high ceilings. the only problem is there is about 3 games going max.

Only 3 tables MAX? Did you check it out around 4:00AM, or did you just fail counting in elementary school? There were at least 10 tables running (plus tournament tables) the day I was there last week, and that was a Thursday afternoon.

Also, I didn't know the high ceiling and adding more space was a cause of the "Borgata movement". I guess if Showboat was trying to be like Borgata, they would have done that 2 years ago. I see nothing in Showboat that can be compared to Borgata.

We know you are a pimp for Borgata, but please save yourself from looking like an ass when you come on here posting information that makes no sense whatsoever.

If you are talking about game varieties you are close...usually spread
2/4 LHE; 3/6 LHE; 1/2 NLHE; 2/5 NLHE; & on weekends 5/5 NLHE.

If you are talking abut number of tables you are way off (unless you are talking about 4-6am. On the weekends they have at least 3-5 table running 24/7 with 12-20 tables in primetime (12n-3am). During the week, it is obviously a less, but at least 8-10 tables going in primetime.

And it is growing....since the move downstairs in april, the activity in the room as continuously grown as has the # of games....we got a $5/10 NLHE with 800-2000 min/max going last weekend and they are starting to get regular action for a 2/4 O8...just need some more players and could get either a mixed game or higher limit O8....

If I sound a bit defensive, I guess cause I am a bit...I consider the Showboat my "home" casino as I play there most often (I also play at the Borgata in their Friday & Saturday tournaments), tend not to play cash games at Borgata as I find the tables a little small and can be cramped especially for a long cash session.

The showboat made a big move in moving downstairs and they are really trying hard to become a premiere poker room in AC, on the whole I think they are succeeding and a year from now, should be a solid #2 to the Borgata.

anybody who does not think that the borgata is the catalyst for poker room renovations around atlantic city is nuts. EVERYONE is trying to keep up. the only thing showboat has going for it is no ante tourneys. the floor guys at showboat are maybe 22 yo max and the last time i was there i had to start a game myself as the floor just did not know what to do once ten people were on a wait list with 3 dealers sitting at empty tables ready to go. maybe things have changed since i was there in the spring. idk and i certainly did not mean to offend anyone.

I don't think anyone suggested that Borgata isn't the catalyst for most of the current change in AC overall, but I suspect that the poker room changes (and in fact the poker rooms themselves) have more to do with Harrah's overall push of poker. That said, randomly popping in to a 250 plus post thread and dropping information that is not only wrong but directly contradictory to dozens of posts in the thread will draw ire.

As for the floor at the Showboat, they have always been amazing to me. I can not say this about the folks at the Borgata, who I generally have to physically grab to gain their attention.

I would say that between the helpful floor staff, dealers who don't start arguments with players, comfortable atmosphere, convenience to the Boardwalk, soft games, and regular drink service (most of the time anyway), the Showboat has a lot more going for it than just no ante tournies.

+1

And don't forget free red bull and beer in bottles....

Beaudog,

Did you play or watch the 5/10 NL game at the Boat last weekend at all?

I am interested because the min/max for this game seem really good. Did alot of those 5/5 NL players cross over to this game and if yes, the 5/5 must even be more of a fish fest!

I think its great that the borgata opened in AC and that it has spured somewhat of a rejuvination in the town....its own new tower, harrah's new tower, the new Revele project that is going up fast, the new MGM resort that is coming in....

It new poker room definately set a standard, and to a certain extent has decimated the Taj....

The borgata fills the top niche in AC...but for a new player it can be quite intimidating and for a weekend player who is really not looking to deal with the "cool" folks who populate and are the borgata's main targets, the Borgata does leave something to be desired....

While Harrahs, with its new tower & expanded poker room (with a cage...yay) may be looking to go after some of borgata's biz directly...the showboat I believe is in a different mind-set.

Right now, I think Showboat's room (that includes, floor people dealers, ambiance, pit managers, waitresses...the whole shebang) is close to becoming the best on the boardwalk. As they keep growing their game base they will become the best....not on Borgata's level (granted) but on a more basic, "regular guy/gal" sort of way.

Do not get me wrong, I love Borgata, but I think the customer service there is often lacking. Sometimes it takes me 15 minutes just to get clocked out.

It is tough for me to just settle on one room, becuase I like Borgata for not having a BBJ drop and a large room with plenty of games I am interested in spread. However, I like Showboat for better customer service, free Red Bulls, and a nice boardwalk view.

Yes I did play....pretty much the 5/10 replaced the 5/5 until it broke around 8pm when we lost about 4 saturday daytime players who went home....then people went back to 5/5 and it ended up that there was 2 5/5 tables going plus 2 2/5 tables.....till around 3am....

I would happily go to Showboat tomorrow if it were spreading 2/5NL or 5/5NL. I'm assuming those are still weekend games there, tho.

I'm excited that a new option might be blossoming in AC for my mid-week trips. :-)

You might want to give them a call and see about a 2/5 that is being spread pretty regularly now....

Are you going daytime or evening....?

How did the 5-10 NL game play? Borgata like or pretty much 5-5NL with and insane amount of red chips on the table.
