You are correct, Mike Haven who is not a moderator in the B&M forum took it upon himself to change the title to "official", I dont know why he did this, it wasn't something that the moderators of the B&M forum knew about and personally I didn't know that until today when I checked the logs - every change made in a thread leaves a record. I'll check with Mike but since that was more than a year ago he may not remember.

I do recall the facts as you describe them and I do believe this was the first of the 'official' threads. I wish in this fair land there was another forum that would allow the helpful and innocent postings that the Mikes have done here.
Mikes postings were not innocent, his goal was to promote his room at the expense of the people who opperate this forum and allow people like you to read and post here - for free -. Thats pretty shady IMO, can you name one major comparable forum that would allow a company representative to post promotional messages without permission? I cant think of any, even Yahoo Answers stops people from shilling.
Situations like this are precisely why corporations don't allow their workers to represent the company on public forums, they are untrained and can create bigger problems accidentally that greatly outweigh the help that they may provide. If Harrah's corporate got wind of this thread I bet they would be very unhappy that two of their low level workers took it upon themselves to represent the company in the largest gambling forum in the world.

None of the mods knew that this was occuring in this thread, we havent read it recently. 2+2 gets between 20,000 and 22,000 posts a day, we cannot be on top of everything, we rely on users to click the Notify Moderator button to help the mods do their jobs. As another example none of B&M mods realized that Stan was unintentionally spamming in the Borgata thread, this is in the middle of being addressed right now. The big difference is that Stan is an advertiser with the Borgata, although he broke the rules he is actually one of the people whose rights we are protecting, we are going to re-train him how to post ASAP, in the future he will not be allowed to post promotional messages, he will only be allowed to answer customer questions, his role on 2+2 will only be as customer support.
To clarify the views in this thread are not that big, it doesn't even register in the top 100. Also I did a search and couldn't find any B&M forum moderators who posted in this thread, I think you might be mistaken, if not please send me a PM with a link so we can look into it, thanks!

We work with hundreds of authorized companies which are not advertisers who are communicate with the users of 2+2 daily for customer support - for free! These companies follow the rules, when its discovered that they do not follow the rules then they risk being banned. We cannot re-write the rules for this thread, we have millions of visitors every month whose needs we need to balance. The vast majority of users do not want us to permit companies on our forum who promote their products or services, I think the decisions in this thread are consistent with their wishes even if some of you think it is wrong. We are not going to change on this position, its a firm and fair decision in my eyes, rather than blame the messenger you should consider looking at the source of your frustrations - if they stopped to send a private message to any of the moderators to ask what is and is not allowed in advance then this wouldnt have been an issue at all.
