Can you buy in up to the table stakes here in 2/5 NLH? I believe max buy in for 2/5 NLH is 600?

If not where are the biggest 2/5 games in South Florida? Taking a trip down there soon and I'd like to play in a deep 2/5 game.

Thanks!

There are no 2/5 games in S. Florida higher than $1000 max buy in.

Played last Sunday night. Max buy in $300 on 1/2 table. Max buy in on 5/5 PLO was $500.

I put out more than allowed and waited and was quickly called out at both tables. So be it. Ran like ass. Played well. No mistakes that I know of. Maybe one or two bad folds.

Only one 2/5 NLH table I was on the list for 3 hours.

Had a great cheeseburger and onion rings and a Mountain Dew.

Vaped the crap out of the well ventilated smoking area out back.

One 2/5 game? What time were you playing? I was there sunday until 11 PM and there were five games when I left.

I am coming down this weekend to play some 5/5 PLO. This is my first time in the new room. How is the temperature in the card room? The old one was pretty cold.

It's still pretty cool inside for sure. I sometimes get the shivers if I'm just in shorts & a polo.

If anybody still reads this from THR...
I need to ask, are you trying to kill the 1-2 PLO game in it's crib? If you have second thoughts about the game just don't spread it anymore. They converted into a 1-2-5 game. If I wanted to play 2-5 PLO, I'd play 2-5 PLO. I just starting trying a few sessions of PLO in the last few weeks as it seems like it could have a better edge (at least for now) than small stake NL.

Sit down last night, they converted the 1-2 game to a 1-2-5. Had a hard time keeping 5 people in the game and they were mostly 2-5 players waiting for a 2-5 table.

Making it a 1/2/5 makes it a lot easier to run and is pretty standard most places. Glad to see Tampa finally doing this as well.

The problem with the 2-2 PLO is pretty much outlined in your post. Many of the people willing to play the game are generally also willing to / waiting for something bigger/different, whether it's 2-5 NL, 5-5 PLO, or just a tourney. There aren't the regs / regfish to prop up the game on a consistent basis, so it just sort of goes & dies randomly.

I think 1-2-5 whether it's a forced UTG or BTN straddle, and no additional straddles is a reasonable difference from the 5-5, where I expect it plays 5-5-T a lot of hands anyways.

I get what you are saying easier to count the pot, but they weren't even enforcing that. Guys were raising to $10 UTG and somebody would say no it's $8 and others would say, it's just $2 let it be $10. Then they started making it $15. The dealers don't really know the game too well and were just getting steamrolled by the 2-5 regs.

And an easier to run game doesn't help if there is no game. Other than 2-5 players waiting for a table or 2-5 players on runbad with low bankroll I don't see this format attracting any new players. I sat down last week at the 1-2 game and it was a mix of people from different games and a few 2-5 players. The game had no problems keeping going. Played yesterday, was nearly 100% 2-5 players goofing around or waiting for a table. Table churned constantly and broke before 11. Maybe I'm wrong and the game will be fine, but I probably will not go back.

plus the 5/5 game is almost always straddled so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

This was a problem when I used to always try to get 1-2 PLO to run. The dealers never could come to a conclusion of how the game was ran, which in turn caused a bunch of confusion.

How we ran the game in Cincinnati it was $1-$2 w/ a $5 bring in so if you were BB you had to call $3 if everyone limped in.

Should be a $5 bring in and the BB should count as $5 when potting pre obviously. Also should allow this game to pay time rake and run it twice. Would get a lot more players without killing the 5/5.

Also, how will they be managing the cash game influx with wpt running? Separate area for tourneys? I've seen the cash games be effected in the new room with the larger daily tournaments such as the 30's something(?) Where they don't have enough dealers/tables to keep cash game flow running smoothly without ridiculously long lists waiting for Mtt tables to break. Have to believe obviously the wpt will draw bigger fields.

In the past they set up separate tables for the WPT tournament outside of the poker room, near the Rise Kitchen & Bakery. Not sure what the plan is now that the new poker room is open.

They only did this for one Summer Series a few years ago. I do not believe they have tried that since.

I'm going to be in Tampa from June 1 to June 7, probably playing mostly 1/2 at SHRT. Got a few questions...

a) Did they up the rake to $2 + 10% max $5 like was rumored?

b) What's the buyin at 1/2? I thought it was max $400 but pokeratlas says $60-$300

c) How do I sign up for the Play & Earn promo? Not sure if I'll get 50 hours in but it'll be close. I'm assuming that only pays if you hit 50, rather than incrementally...

d) What is parking like here? I'll be renting a car. I expect to show up at SHRT some time from 6 to 8 PM on Thursday June 1, probably 4PM Friday, might play there Saturday but I was thinking play at Derby Lane then, and I'll be back at least once during a weekday, probably late afternoon. Will I have trouble finding a spot on any of these days? I looked at a map and it looks like there are a few parking garages and some surface parking--are these all free? I assume I want to park in the draper place garage as that looks closest to the poker area.

e) Is this casino in a high crime area?

Thanks!

Rake is $5+2. 1/2 max is 300. Park in draper street garage , elevator drops you directly into poker room. Casino itself is in a lousy area. Not sure why you would play at Derby over HR.

Does anyone here know if entries earned through satellites for the upcoming $1100 tourney are transferable?

Thanks for the answers. Is there adequate parking in the Draper garage or does it tend to fill up on certain times/days? I'll be playing mostly in the evening, tomorrow, Friday, maybe Saturday, and next Monday or Tuesday.

I'm likely moving to Tampa. This is an investigative trip. I'll be looking at apartments as well as playing poker. I thought I should check out the other major poker rooms in the area (Derby Lane and Silks, probably skipping Tampa Greyhound). You think they're not worth checking out?

I was planning on playing mostly at HR but spending one day at DL and maybe half a day at Silks.

Rent is probably cheapest near Tampa Greyhound
