thats mainly true for the start of the game, but late when seats open its more than likely the runner of the game will let people sit. and the games have been good for so long for a reason. its not a coincidence.

What are the rules regarding private games in public casinos? Does it differ on seminole land? Is that legit? I know in vegas they just use loopholes to get around the rules, like they all show up at the same time or flood a wait list, and if anyone else tries to join they just all quit the game or something like that.

THR is not a public casino. It is owned by the Seminole Tribe and sits on tribal land, which is a sovereign nation. The poker room is not regulated by the State of Florida. They can do anything they like, within the parameters of the US govt federal regulations for Indian casinos. There are no rules in those regulations regarding private poker games, so THR can do whatever they like in that regard.

There also are no Florida laws or regulations regarding private poker games at Florida licensed cardrooms. Each cardroom can set its own policy and procedures. Policies and procedures usually do have to be approved by the state regulators.

Thanks - that makes sense. I'm always very aware on their land that the rules do not apply and you better be on your best behavior.

Interesting that even in other poker rooms the rules can vary.

I'm not at all impressed by the new room. It is almost hidden and there is a zero percent chance drunk randoms stumble in and donk off a few buy ins. Only one small area for food, good luck trying to get something to eat on a tourny break.....enjoy your 20 min round trip to the food court. Bathroom situation is the same. 30/30 was a total cluster ****...I arrived at 1125 and waited an hour to get a seat. 140 playing when I arrived and 160 playing when I was finally seated. Extra dealers came in at 12pm but they were used for cash games...ofc

Yeah, yeah, yeah.....the new room is nice and shiny but nothing new or innovative. Games are still soft, so thats all that really matters

In town for work and heading to the new room this afternoon. Does the Hard Rock do call-a heads for the waiting lists?

Not trying to derail the thread - I was told from a person in a pretty high position at 1 of the licensed poker rooms in the state that private games were not allowed. He did say the Seminole properties were exempt from this.

If true, then the Division of Pari-Mutuel Wagering must have an unpublished policy to deny any requests from licensed cardrooms for approval of the internal procedures to run a private game. This is beyond the authority of the DPMW under Florida Statutes - which seems to be their habit, like they did in authorizing player-banked card games.

Actually, it seems more likely to me that the "person" who told you that just used it as an excuse to not allow private games. There is nothing in Florida Statutes or DPMW regulations that requires all cardroom games or tables to be open to all players. The cardrooms are private businesses and have the right to set their own business policies. There are laws and regulations which stipulate what games they can offer, how to handle security and money, and procedures for running the games, rake, jackpots and licensing:

Florida Statutes for Cardrooms
DPMW Regulations for Cardrooms

Beyond that, each room can set their own policies for business operations as they see fit.

I have sent an email to the Director of the DPMW for clarification. I'll post any response I get.

Since the new room opened there is a regular 30/60 limit mixed game which runs on Wednesdays and Saturdays (possibly more days in the future). The players (including myself) are open to playing pretty much anything. Last week we had Badugi, 2-7, Razzdugi, etc. in the mix. The game usually includes Stud 8 and 5-card Omaha 8. All players have input on what games are played each session. Tonight the game should start around 6 and all players are welcome.

For those who don't check out some of the other pages on this site, big story going down involving two of the Tampa Hard Rocks "Poker Ambassadors" including main event runner up John Racener.. Pretty interesting stuff, will be interesting to see how this plays out over the coming days and if the Hard Rock keeps them around after all of this. http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/29...000-a-1648963/

Both of those scumbags need removed ASAP, imo.

Games are so good because you only let whales and your staked friends play. Top notch guy you are, boss.

Looks like poker room mgr, Tommy Bates, is friends with some of the biggest scammers in the history of 2+2. One has to wonder if Bates had any of the sold off action from Zaki and Racener to rip off a degen of almost $500K.
As long as these 2 (possible 3) scum bags are the ambassadors of the room, then I would avoid at all costs. These cats learned their scamming tricks somewhere.
Does the Hardrock not care if their ambassadors are stealing their clients and action by hosting underground offsite BJ and poker? Or that drugs are involved?
Maybe the tribe should issue a statement...

Although the incident is certainly very interesting at the least, I'm requesting that comments on the matter be directed to the NVG thread that was linked. Thanks.

If the Rock still has those dolts on the roster, is it not pertinent in this thread?

This. Until something is proven without a doubt I consider this gossip. Also people reading this thread have already been notified by the link to the NVG thread; there's no need to have the same discussion in 2 different places. Please direct any further comments about this to the Moderation Discussion thread.

Maybe I was totally in a dream world, but the old bathroom had like 2 stalls and 2 urinals. I'm almost sure this new one has way more than that.

Free parking returning to Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino

Quote:
Free parking is coming back to the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Tampa next week.

Beginning this Tuesday, there will be free self-parking in all garages. The changes are in response to guest concerns, the re-opening of nearly 500 spaces on a surface parking lot and the planned April opening of a new parking garage.

Construction at the complex caused a temporary loss of almost 1,000 parking spaces, which was one of the reasons for a charge for parking, according to Seminole gaming.
