Yea everyone buys in short in the games under 2 5, its kind of a joke. And the dealers give players 25 dollar chips at the table so the stack sizes even look more ******ed.

This incident is unfortunate. Many people in the poker room know Tom and the Mrs. as he is a friendly and personable man. I hope they find these perps and boil them in oil.

But that leads us to a bigger problem. SECURITY

I personally do not have that problem because if they want anything from me they need to mug me on the way in. Yet, we hear rumors. The local cops gossip that their buddies on the Tribe police force tell them of nightly events that are hushed up.

While I see more security in the poker room than ever, I think more is needed. Leaving there at 4am the other morning was spooky. And I never saw a security of any rank or position.

Its pretty simple. When walking to the parking lot you should be watching carefully for anyone following you or hanging around.
When driving just make sure nobody is following you. When getting close to your house, if you are a little suspious that the car behind you has been following you. Take a few turns and if he is still behind you. Call 911.

Not a big fan of the HR, for this and many other reasons...last time I left there at 5 AM, there were lots of seedy, gang types hangin' out in the courtyard outside the poker room....Best thing that could happen is the tribe catches the little punks on premise and dole out their own sovereign nation justice......

+1 on knowing Tom. He's an extremely nice man who's at the Hard Rock playing poker and blackjack all of the time. I really hate to hear of incidents like this, as it makes me very nervous about playing there.

While security's has been beefed up significantly, I honestly don't feel any safer playing there than I did before. One problem is that you have the same guys hanging around inside and immediately outside the poker room all day every day, who pretty much never play poker. The only time they play is when one of their friends wins some money and gives it to them-- other than that, they just hang around for hours and hours on end doing nothing-- just eyeballing people. The problem is, security rarely says anything to them because they're around so much, these guys have become friendly with security. It's ridiculous to see security tell a wife that she can't sit next to her husband playing $10/25NL but it's okay for these hoodlums to walk around like they own the place despite the "no spectator policy."

I heard about Tommy's robbery just before I left the poker room so after waiting in line for 10 minutes to cash-out last night, I made the trek to my car, stopping in a couple of bathrooms along the way and zig-zagging my way through the casino slots just to be safe. I was relieved to make it home without incident last night.......or so I thought. After I got home, I noticed that somebody had keyed the entire passenger's side of my car while it was parked in the Hard Rock garage. I don't know why-- I was parked in 1 space with ample room on both sides and in front of a wall, so nobody should have been walking by my car to get somewhere.

This is the 3rd time my car has been damaged in 2 months at the Hard Rock-- twice on Saturday nights and once on Cinco de Mayo. I've always self-parked because I used to park my car in the valet lot and would watch the valets drive POS cars like maniacs so I never wanted to trust them with mine....but I'm just gonna have to bite the bullet and start using them now. I'm tired of worrying about being followed to my car and certainly tired of the vandalism so I might have to sacrifice a burned clutch for a little peace of mind.

Tom is a very personable old man. It's sad that something like this had to happen to him and his wife. They are always in good spirits, greeting people in the poker room. All the 5-10 regulars know him, along with all the shady rail bums.

As scummy as it sounds though, I expected something like this to happen eventually as he was always carelessly flashing big chips around. I know he's not doing it to showoff but rather out of naivety. Just to make it clear, I'm not saying he deserved this, just that he should have been more careful. I remember seeing him with a chocolate chip on Wednesday night that he kept pulling out of his pocket.

I'm curious to know how many incidents like this go unreported by the media. Someone mentioned in the poker room a while back that one of the bad beat winners were followed home and robbed, but I didn't see anything in the news about it.

bic, are you the guy on Thursday, table 30, seat 2, with the king high straight with 8-9-J-10 on the board, who pushed seat 10 with a queen high straight out of the hand with a $1500 raise, but ended up chopping 3 ways anways cause a king came on the river?

BTW, the word from the floor is that even though $5/10NL is not a time rake game, you are allowed to run the board twice as long as the hand is head's up, players are all-in, and both consent. I haven't seen anybody do it yet but it's nice to have the option.

Thats too bad for Tom. I know him too. With that said, I think the security concerns are a little over done. Its not that bad. Just because you see a dark colored person that speaks hatian, doesn't mean hes out to rob you. Racism much?

Also, I have been a 2/5 reg there for a long time, and have noticed that a lot of the reg 5/10s have been moving down to the 2/5. I don't blame you, I expected it to happen. The reason I posted this message is not to point that out but to ask you guys that have been playing the 5/10 the last few days how many of your regulars do you see moving down or up? I notice some but because the 5/10 was not my regular game I don't know all of the guys. I saw a total donk playing 10/25 the other day and was wondering how many guys are doing it.

Just from walking through upstairs the other day I saw some guys that used to play 2/5 sitting 5/10 and thought the game would be kinda soft. I expect a kind of realignment in the next few weeks, once the fun of playing above your roll wears off.

Also, thoughts on next weekend when the Vegas pros invade and clean the room out? Do you see the guys play 10/25 moving down when they get here or trying to compete?

Are the las vegas pros going to bother coming? From the posts on 2+2 the games are described as nitty, short stacked or non-existent. I'd imagine they won't waste their time until / if the games get as good as expected.

I didn't definitely not being racist-- I didn't mention ethnicity or color at all. I'm just commenting on the people I see hanging around day in and day out who don't play anything and just ask strangers for money.

I expect the high-limit games to be pretty crappy between August and November, when they'll be mostly comprised of pro's and grinders flocking in from out of town before the snow birds arrive. I see a lot of the old $5/10NL-ANTE players at the $10/20NL tables and I expect those guys to get eaten alive once the post-WSOP wave of players gets here. $5/10NL will get worse too but not to the extent of the nosebleeds and the winter tourist season should be great for that game.

Take the number of people that cashes out of the casino then the number of people who get robbed, This happens less than .05 percent of the time. You will NEVER be able to stop it from happening, It sucks that it does, but impossible to stop.

The Seminoles need to find these guys and give them a old school lesson, keep away from the casino if you want to rob someone.

Its very easy to stop if you're a resident. Carry a firearm. Instead of flashing those big chips flash the holster once in awhile. If you should have to shoot some scumbag in the face that just improves your safety metagame.

This sounds like a good idea, but you can't conceal carry on Indian grounds.

Brandishing a weapon is only a misdemeanor, but I wouldn't to do it too much and face revocation of CW license.

A friend of mine who is is a Hard Rock regular just texted me that another poker player was robbed last night for $20K. I don't know any other details so take it with a grain of salt, but if it's true, it's just another awful story to come out of the Hard Rock.

If this sort of thing keeps happening every week the games will move elsewhere. The tribe should post maybe a $50000 reward for info leading to capture. Then perhaps once of those guys will rat the rest out. I'm already checking out the other casinos located in better areas.

As the saying goes, you only have one chance to make a first impression. The Hard Rock needs to step their game up quickly by addressing the issues brought up in this thread before people start taking their business elsewhere.
