The competition for poker in south florida allows players to go elsewhere. The Isle flat out provides a better experience. Gulfstream, Mardi Gras have started to build niches that retain repeat business.

I hear the big games at Magic City/Flagler are super soft.

PBKC is juicy, open all weekend as well, and has much better security along with player deposit boxes coming soon-

Agreed, I think that HR just assumed they were going to be the top poker room by default because of their name, they just sat back while the competition stepped up their games and blew right past them, while they stood by and did nothing about it.

Anyone know anything about the satellite for the WPT? I heard they were starting them for as low as $40 for the $5000 event in a few months.

Yea, I got the sheet right here.

Its $50 for 3k then $10 Dealer add on for $1000. 20 min. blinds. unlimited rebuys 1st 3 levels for $20 for 2k.
I guess for every $530 in the pool(after they take their huge cut) thats how many $530 saty tickets pay out which gets you in the $530 saty to the main event $5k. That saty will be on oct. 2nd 11am.

11am early? I'm ready for my late morning nap by 11am . The real question, should one play yet another NLH tourney?

Instead of the HHR's web site showing a $560 WPT satellite for Saturday October 3rd at 11am, it's now showing a $350 $30K guarantee. Anybody have the real scoop as to what it's gonna be?

Played at this mess of a room for the first time earlier this week. What a trainwreck.

Seriously, this is the best HR can do for their supposed flagship property?

A few observations:

- Next time I go, I'm bringing a kite to fly inside. I think with the AC blowing at 35 MPH onto what seemed like every table I could get that sucker up there pretty well.

- Could they possibly make the room any further away from the parking garage? Or at least hire some rickshaws/blimps/sherpas to ferry you back and forth?

- I hope that they put all the money they saved on tables and chairs to good use elsewhere. On the plus side, with those chairs and the decor in there, if the room eventually folds, they could just open up a TGI Friday's there the next day and not miss a beat.

- The "sink" to wash you hands is outside the bathrooms? What a brilliant idea. (Am I the only one who freaked out and had to pull my shirt up to grab the doorhandle to open the bathroom door, since you're now 100% certain that everyone grabs it prior to washing their hands?)

- Could we hire more than one dealer who knows the basic rules of the game and how to run a table? In one hand, a player comes back from a bathroom break into the SB. So he has to wait. Dealer deals him cards. Then after all cards are out, she realizes that she shouldn't have, and so takes his cards in and mucks them. I'm the BB and toss my cards in thinking it was a misdeal. But oh, no, "dead hand for him, but no misdeal" was the decision (upheld by the floor). Give me a fricking break. Add to that about 4 rivers put out while action was still pending (once in a $1,200 pot) and it was probably the worst dealing display I've seen in many, many years.

I'll skip the rest of the litanny. Can't wait to see these guys try to run a WPT event there.

(I know people here recommend other rooms in the area, but I was just close to there so decided to give it a shot while I was in the area - never again. Going to other recommended rooms from now on.)

Yes, I hate this room compared to Tampa HR. I sat at a Windy table myself.
On the bathroom note, why would you want to get fesis on your shirt. Just use your hand that your about to wash anyway.
Similar to when you are in a stall with no sink. Touching the door lock is gross since you know everyone touches it with their fesis covered hands. I would just use some TP to unlock the door. lol

I haven't been there in a couple of years, and the room sucked then. Nice to know I haven't wasted my time going back since they haven't made any improvements.

So quick question for the South FL guys. Is everyone saying HR sucks now? I'm thinking about taking a job in Miami but I want to play live, but not if the room is a joke. Is PBKC the best place to play?

The Isle in Pompano is best.

The Hard Rock is the biggest joke in the South Florida poker world. They make money inspite of themselves. I could list you a laundry list of things that annoy me about the place. The problem for me is I live fifteen minutes west of the place so its easy to get there and back but it is rarely a enjoyable visit.

While we waited for the limits to change everyone assumed the HR would be the center of South Florida poker. That has not come to fruition. Poor floor leadership, inconsistent dealers ability and enforcement of rules and lack of security and comfort have driven many away.

The location of the room is another story onto itself. All in all, its a disaster.

I think HR is great. dunno what these other peeps are talking about. 35mph wind? I don't feel it, but if you do, then wear a hoodie like all those other tv players do :P lack of security? there's plenty of security, but they're response time is a little slow, but they are there! It seems their floor staff is good..

If you have ever played in a decent cardroom you have already realized how HORRENDOUSLY the Hard Rock is managed. The management cares nothing about what the players want and seem to go out of their way to make playing their unpleasant.

I could give a laundry list of the calamities I have seen the floor responsible for, but instead I'll just give you my favorite:

I ask to be put on an Interest List for $5/$5 Pot Limit Omaha. Okay, no problem, it gets done. After say 30 mins. things look promising as we have 7 ppl on the list and I am told the game will be called as soon as 8 players are on the list. I check back 15 minutes later.... AND THE LIST IS GONE!

I ask the floor what happened to our list, and she tells me the computer automatically deletes interest lists after 1 hour. I let the floor know of my outrage and she gives me "It is proven from our experience that if an interest list is up for more than 1 hour, people don't want to play the game anymore." WTF??!?!?!?!?!?!

On a positive note, the tournament director is professional and the tournaments are well run.
