I've seen 4/8 HO on the board recently, but it never went. I've played 4/8 HOE once, but that was a few years ago.

Anyways, it's great to hear that a mixed game was going....
No it was a complete HORSE game, a couple people on Twitter were talking about it

Yikes, the $60 SNG looks brutal. 10 minute rounds, $125 rake pulled out of the $600 entry fee.

Very cool for them to try this and I hope they work out. I would love to hear about the structure and play you get in these from someone who has tried it but the fact that you get paid in a combination of cash/tourney chips seems a little strange.
Can't you get it all in just cash?

I think the point of splitting up the winnings into cash and vouchers is to get people to play them as satellites for bigger buy-in tourneys (obv.) like the 1k's and the Sunday Optimum. I have compared them with CP's structure and they are so much better. CP's is pathetic (never played them but just comparing the structures). I applaud RA for how they continue to come up with new ideas and great promos for the players.

Thanks guys,

Here are the structures:
$60
3k chips | 10 Min Blinds
1st: $250 | 2nd: $150 | 3rd: $75

$110
3k chips | 12 Min Blinds
1st: $500 | 2nd: $300 | 3rd: $175

$250
4k chips | 12 Min Blinds
1st: $1,200 | 2nd: $700 | 3rd: $450

$520
5k chips | 15 Min Blinds
1st: $2,500 | 2nd: $1,500 | 3rd: $1,000

25 |50
50 |100
75 |150
100|200
150|300
250|500
400|800
600|1200
800|1600
1000|2000
1500|3000
2500|5000
4000|8000
6000|12000

The $60 has been lasting approx. 1 hour 40 minutes. You don't reach 10BB until 40 minutes in. The rake is kinda high for the buy-in, but when you take time in consideration it is $12.50 for 100 minutes of play. A typical, poorly structured, $60 S'n'G lasts around 1 hour and costs $10-$12.50 per person depending on your location and requires more luck.

During events, like AUPT, we will be paying out tournament dollars and chips. During normal days (most of the time), we pay out in just chips.

Are the sit and go's now over?
Are they just going to run these when a big tourney series is going?
Just wondering as I didn't see any of these going last night.

Also, as it's Derby day it is pretty stupid that we can't bet on the Derby or any thoroughbred horse race at Aces. I assume this is due to Aces continuing clash with Canterbury right?

Didn't check on SNG, but the fact that you can't bet TB's at RA ( or harness at CP) is due to the dispute w/ the TB horsemen, keep in mind it was Cort Holten, the HBPA attorney who tried to get the MRC to revoke RA's class A license. MRC dismissed it, read the minutes on the MRC website.

They are available anytime, you should be able to sign up at the poker board. I will soon be setting 2-3 focus days. That way there is a larger chance of getting them running on a regular basis. Currently we get a lot of half full lists.

As for TB betting, we wish you could bet on it here as well.

You could have 5 or 6 handed sit n go's then. Just an idea.

I am not opposed to that if the players want to do that. We've made accommodations when people want to play shorthanded.

TRIP REPORT
Took the ~30 min drive from minny to this card room. Had quite a few limit tables running and 3-4 spread limit games. Apparently da regulators don't allow no limit so instead they play a 1-2 blind game w/ bets and up to $100 bets and raises.

So it's nearly no limit but technically not.

At the table I played it was typical bell curve of players from short stacked nits to 20 sumthin pro wannabes buying in max (300) and trying to beat the $4 rake.

Checkin was easy, could hear name called over PA system throughout the card room and moderate sized table game area. Mercifully, no obnoxious slots here w noises and desperate souls.

They do have modest payouts for 4 of a kinds and royals but seemed too insignificant to drive traffic. Autoshufflers kept good pace and dealers were quite good. $2 chips were used and boy they need a washing. Also looked like decent table-side food and even a couple decent servers walking around. $2/min massage was quite effective but lacking personality

Overall quite a comfy place to play if you're looking for kinda no limit with a non-scary generally friendly crowd. Also enjoyed the classic rock played and the linunkugels (sp?) octoberfest drafts.

I haven't been to Running Aces since they started having SNGs...can anyone tell me how often they are generally running? Is there much interest in them?

Rooms kind of been a little slow so the SnGs dont run much.

They took away the $5 an hour and bumped everything down to $2/hr. Got rid of all the jackpots and put up the progressive board 24/7. Most of the Quads are 0-150 though so it's not too exciting.

The room has been slow, possibly because the jackpot chasers have left.

I believe their main problem is the $6 rake and the speed with which they pull the rake. The cost of playing a low stakes and/or tight games is brutal. For example, if the pot on the flop is $12 and everyone folds to a bet, then the winner gets $9 and the house gets $3.

I moved away, but looked on Bravo Friday night. Yikes. 8 tables (CP had 22 or 23 I think).

There are a few things you could point to as the "main problem" though I don't think it's the promotions or the rake.
For example, a $5+1 rake would be better than the $4+2, the $2/hour is nice, a BBJ attracts gamblers but many regs don't care about it, the progressive board is nice, though a High Hand of the Hour might keep people more engaged. etc.

One problem is coordination. Though CP is cutting into the market, RA still has the lockdown on the 2-100 spread game, but nothing else. Better efforts would have to be made to organize and publicize regularly scheduled higher limit LHE games, the 2-100 omaha game, maybe some sit&go's (in the CP "survivor" style?), etc.
You can get into this cycle where people don't go to Aces because people don't go to Aces, and I would hate to not have a choice about where to go.

Starting in November, we are kicking off tiered rake-back. The more hours you play, the more you will earn. The top tier will pay $10 per hour. There is a tier for $7, $5, $3, $2 and the bottom is $1.

All players will get the $1 an hour base for the month. You can swipe your cards in the kiosks around the room to monitor your progress in the tiers. At the end of the month we will send you a rebate check that will show how many hours you earned, what tier you ended in, and will pay you for the balance due.

Example: You play 160 hours and were in the top tier of $10 per hour. You received $160 in comp throughout the month (160 x $1). At the end of the month we will send you a check for $1,440. (160 hours x $9)

I'm pretty surprised they can't get a 6/12-8/16 game going with 7-10$ per hour on the table.

I'd bet 3/6 is beatable with a 10$ per hour promo.

Ranges from 30-50 entrants depending on other local events.
It's $215+$35, 15k chips, 30 min blinds, and all the levels.

I heard from a player at CB that RA has been having Survivor-type PLO games going. Any truth to this?

Very true! We now offer Timed No-Limit and Timed Pot Limit games. The players often play a mix as well (NLH/PLO).
