I agree with you though, it would be nice if all rooms flourished and another boom came around with legal online poker in the next few years.
For the billionth time, comps are not .25/hr...

Will probably be visiting Rivers again at least once before headed out to Vegas for the sake of friends/familiar faces, but probably won't otherwise make the 2hr+ drive again [regularly], no matter how long the list of flaws about Horseshoe is/will be, including even if comps WERE .25/hr (which they never were).

Saturday night is probably the best time to be at the rivers.

HU tourney sounds fun. I never play HU and it's probably -EV for me but I am definitely going to play in it.

Also would you mind expanding a bit on what to expect Sat night? "best time of the week" doesn't tell us out-of-towners much at all

Saturday's are probably the busiest time for this room as well as stacks on the tables will be large around midnight. Plus you will have a few drunks roll into the room.

I've played both heads up that they have had at the Rivers. The 1st was double elimination and 2nd one was single elimination and they both were a good time.

Unless the games have significantly changed since CLE opened, Fri nights were significantly better than Sat nights, at least for PLO... 5/5 PLO almost never got off the ground on Sat nights (usually 2 1/3 PLO tables), but I've almost never seen a Fri night without 5/5 PLO (and at least 1-2 additional 1/3 PLO tables)... and those games are deep.

I stand corrected.

A few people quoted that rake is now 6+1. Is this true. I haven't been there in a few months, but then it was 5+1.

Say it ain't so!

Other than a few sporadic fish, it seemed that there were a few good regs who would come and play regularly at the Rivers. Nice guys, but I'm glad to see them less.

Started a good 2/5/10NL game today. Game was very good until a guy came in and bought short and refused to follow the mandatory straddle we'd had for hours. The game became nitty and the big stacks decided to leave. It was fun though.

Re: Rivers Casino (Pittsburgh, PA)

If you thought that game was very good, then you would have blown your load at the games that used to run. That game was a nit fest. People should have sacked up and started a $5/$10 table when the dude who came in for $300 didn't want to put the straddle on.

The half and half game was ridiculous, and will hopefully start running every day.

We tried to start a 5/10 but everyone kept saying they were leaving within a hour or two and didn't want to start a new game. I agree that it was a nitfest at the end but the action was good while the straddle was on. Were you at the table?
