So you think you'd pay less in a standard raked game vs. the five dollar time? The only way that's possible is if PLO deals less than ten hands a push witch it has every time I've played in it.

I think its breakeven at worst. Any decent dealer should easily deal 20 hands / hr at PLO. But that's besides the point and not the reason for my original post. Raking pots without a flop is greedy and poor customer service.

I don't think that's normal. I would check on that with the floor maybe the dealt was mistaken.

What is not normal? Rivers rakes even if there's no flop, always has.

I understand that they always have. I am saying that the practice of doing so is not normal in bigger poker rooms / markets. To be honest judging from the responses in this thread I wouldn't change a single thing if I was the manager. You guys are getting over raked and don't even know any better or care.

I was not talking to you. Sheriffolds suggested it could've been a mistake the dealer raked preflop. I was trying to clarify that it was not a mistake and Rivers has always taken rake preflop.

I whole-heartedly agree that they should not rake if there is no flop. My complaints have fallen on deaf ears.

At least in 1/3 NL if there's a raise preflop and everyone folds there's no rake, since the pot doesn't hit $10.

In 4/8 limit, as soon as someone raises they're taking a rake. Everyone to the left of the raiser could drop dead and Rivers is still getting their money.

Will be in the area tonight so thinking about stopping down. What's the likelihood any omaha or stud games will be running?

Omaha will most likely be running. Stud not so much. But hey start a list maybe you can get a game going.

Yes, and since you asked, I'm assuming you know who it is already. I won't go into too much detail, but feel free to PM me

People quit all the time. But if someone was fired, that's interesting because it says something was going wrong in the room.

You say that as if it's out of the hands of the casino and they didn't write the state law.

Because the Rivers is the ONLY casino in PA with a poker room and completely controlled the entire process surrounding the rake procedures...

Not saying that, I'm saying they lobby together. Just like they did to insist that the rake for internet poker is artificially high so as not to compete with the established cartel. It's not a secret.

No it isn't. See 637a.17.b.2. They could use an incremental rake schedule instead of a flat percentage and collect the first $1 at $20 or whatever.

You may have a point that the current gaming regs don't permit "no flop no drop". I'm not convinced that wouldn't be trivially easy to amend though.
