If you are somebody who plays for profit, you really shouldn't be too distraught over the extra $1 in promo money. In the long run, all, or just about all of that money will come back to you, as long as you're taking advantage of the promos.

With promotions such as high hands, these things tend to work much like any other market. The more money being given away, the more tables that will be going. It's not perfect though, so if you're weirdly obsessed with maximizing how much you make from promos like these, just pay attention to the Bravo. Take the amount of money being given away per hour, and divide it by the number of tables (or number of players).

For example, if a room is giving away $500 every 30 minutes, and there are 20, 10-handed tables, that's 200 people getting $1K in promo money per hour, which works out to $5 an hour. If there's a different time of day where they give away $300 per hour, and there's only 20 players in the room, that works out to $15/hour/player, which is much better.

What ever happened to the o8 games. It seems as if they have all disappeared. When cleveland opened I thought they broke up because some of the players were cleveland players. But now I am not even seeing it run up there very much. Although I don't look every day since it would be a long drive just to play o8.

Yes. Depends who's around. T/25 was weekly for a few months. It's been more deep 5-5 lately with a likely button straddle.

I guess 5-5 is just taking the place of 5/10 since it seems silly to split the player pool at the 2/5 level into 2/5 and 5/5 as opposed to just doing 5/t instead.

Does anybody have any details about the "Million Dollar BadBeat" that they are tweeting about? I can't find any info about it on their website or anywhere else.

Not sure what info you are looking for, but...
Winner/loser must flop Q high straight flush and A high straight flush(royal). The chop is 50/25/25. Winner does not also get the royal jackpot, I believe they also aren't eligible for the high hand, if there is a promo that day(but the high hand part I'm not 100% sure on). Also, they don't win the normal bbjp. So if the bbjp is 300k, they don't chop 1.3 mil. Lastly, they took out an insurance policy, and the casino is paying the policy, it does NOT come out of the promo/bad beat drop money/fund. It runs from July 1st to December 30th, I believe(no idea why it's not the 31st).
Hope that helps, that's about all I can think of.

Can anyone tell me about the tournament structure for the Pittsburgh Poker Open? I am thinking about coming up to play the Friday Bounty and 7 pm tournament the second weekend and was wondering about the starting stack, length of levels, and how many typically play in a tournament that size. Will Phil Hellmuth be there?

rivers runs poker open events 4 times a year, (sometimes 5), hellmuth and others only come when there is a poker night in america being filmed, and there isnt one this time as far as i know. generally in the tournies you speak of (the smaller ones), the starting stack is 20k or so with 20 min levels

Do bigger games tend to run when there are sporting events? Or is it just more 1/3 games.

Honestly hit or miss, check the bravo. Typically home steeler game weekends are ok with people coming in from out of town, but the day of the game itself is usually slow (people are out drinking and watching the game). Pirate games it depends on the series, cubs for example travel well and you'll see a few. I can't imagine many from Houston making the trip. As for bigger games, it's completely random imo.

Thanks, just trying to judge if it is worth dealing with the gigantic traffic + parking hassle to get down there on those days. Seems unlikely.

Does anyone know where the extra dollar from the new $2 promo drop is going? From what I can tell they're saving it up for occasional special events. There was a big promo weekend nearly two months ago, but it's been kind of quiet since.

Is this another Tuesday morning party thing?

EVERY thursday since start of august they do $1000 high hands every hour from 3-11, thats a big chunk of it...plus every weekday theres either a hot seat or plinko or high hand etc ranging from 100-1000 depending on the day and promotion. and then obviously some piece still goes to the bad beat..

So we were playing the hammer poker tournament this past weekend. Our flight started at noon. We never saw a drink lady. At 1st break I questioned the floorman and he shrugged his shoulders and went back to watching football on TV. Nice customer service.
Anyone else have this problem?

All I can tell you is that is a common complaint. There aren't dedicated servers to the poker room, they are on a rotation. Which is the biggest issue. Also, it's such a different department that unless a floor guy physically makes a phone call to food and bev, there isn't much they can do. I've actually witnessed them calling and still no waitress came. On top of that, anytime there is more than one waitress in the room, they split up the room how they want. I've seen tables just be forgotten in the split and never visited.
