Bravo says they have a few games running. Can we get any conformation on this?

Yesterday and today were supposed to be "friends and family" day. I have friends who work there but was never stopped by anyone on the way inside to ask who I knew. It closes at 10pm tonight and reopens for good on April 2nd for the soft opening. I imagine the grand opening is a little before Memorial Day weekend.

I haven't heard or read about any bonuses and didn't receive any when I got my card on Thursday during the preview.

I'd be surprised if they have any incentives for new players. There is no need, everyone will be coming there already.

Planning a trip there the weekend of April 14th. All info reported would be appreciated!

This may sound dumb but could someone report what types of clothes people are wearing there: designer, Ed hardy, wal-mart, etc.....

Don't know about this. BUT...my free slot $ at Borgata just about DOUBLED from the previous month and any month I can ever recall. Same for a couple friends of mine so check your free slot $'s when you're town if you get them!

Any idea if they will have a rep play an active role ITT? (Stan/Tab style on the Borgata Thread)?

I am going to bring this up to my management staff. I would love to have someone update live game reports and other promotions throughout the day.

My 2 cents as some planning to play at Revel daily: Don't muck up this thread with multiple posts daily. If live game reports can be seen in the Bravo app and on a website leave it at that. I've stopped reading the Borgata thread long ago because I was tired of wading through all the live game reports, questions about how many runners in a tourney, etc. If you or anyone else has something new to mention like a promotion, change in policy, BBJ getting hit, or something like that, then bump the thread. Otherwise, I'll never read about the promotions because it won't be worth going through all the posts that are meant to keep the thread near the top of the first page.

Maybe it's a minority opinion, but I think the signal-to-noise ratio could be better than it is in the Borgata thread. If it is, I'll make this my one stop into the B&M forums.

Mine hasn't. $5 still and no daily room offers yet.

Seems like a lot of people are going up around Tuesday. Is anyone interested in meeting up and walking around/checking it out/discussing Borgata vs Revel?

I'm going to be down there Tues/Weds probably staying at Borgata Tuesday night and I'm planning on playing the Revel at least 1 day of the two.

If anyone wants to PM me we can take a little tour and compare notes.

Hopefully some of you 2+2 people can get some good videos of the poker room and put them up on Youtube for those of us who can't make it down for a couple months!

I took a look around the place on Friday while it was open to the public for I guess what was a soft opening. I'll tell you my impressions a little bit. First of all, I approached the Revel from Pacific Avenue and I tried to find the front entrance but I couldn't. I don't know if there is one but there must be. I had to walk all the way back towards the Boardwalk to find an entrance. The place is definitely huge.

Once I got inside, I went up a long escalator to the casino. It is a ways up there. Once I got into the casino there were slots which people were playing at and craps tables and table games all set at $5. I don't know if people were playing the table games but there were dealers at many of them. The Revel has a really cool bar/lounge area right off the main casino with a stage for a band. I am definitely going to hang there some time, especially when they have some music going. It took me a while to find the poker room and I had to ask directions and eventually walk all the way accross the casino, up an escelator and around the way and then up some stairs to the right. But I finally got there. It's a hike no doubt and is certainly off the beaten path.

There were about 20 dealers seated but absolutely no games playing. Rumor had it a 2/4 game went there the previous night before. It's nice though and a nice room. But since I smoke and it is so far to walk out the casino to smoke, I don't think I'll be playing there much as it would suck to make the hike as it really is a trek. Also, once at the poker room, I got absolutely no cell phone reception. I mean zero bars and my phone icon was Xed completely. So calling people and getting calls will be tough. I use Sprint though and maybe a different carrier would get better reception. The room was nice but it's location was so dam inconvenient.

The whole place is non-smoking and the Revel is certain it will stay afloat with this policy. I'm not so sure this could be true, but their marketing strategy is that they are a resort destination which has a casino, not just a casino. They are intending on drawing in people from outside Atlantic City to the Revel and getting new customers that the rest of AC is not getting. If this works then they might be successful despite their smoking policy. But it's a gamble if they can pull it off imo. I heard another rumor that if an employee comes back smelling like smoke they are dismissed for the day. I talked to three employees of the Revel who were having drink at Showboat and they all spoke highly of working there. But they could not confirm the rumor about being dismissed if smelling of smoke.

All in all, it is a nice room. Definitely above average. But it's just so off the beaten path. And if you smoke then forget about it because there is nowhere inside the Revel you can smoke. But if I quit I'll go up there and play from time to time. I intend on checking it out again next weekend when I am down there.

I have no prediction on success for this place, but you have no idea how attractive a totally non-smoking casino is to non-smokers.

Cant wait to check this place out, probably going this weekend and staying at Borgata but definitely heading over to check out Revel.

Could someone report what is running now? Anywhere to check online (not apps)?
04-02-2012 , 12:42 PM
Found it, 1/2, 2/4, 3/6 all running and 2/5 about to start.

I notice that these are the exact same limits they run at Borgata. I realize NL games are almost always 1/2 or 1/3, 2/5, 5/10, etc.

However, if you pick any obtuse number, there probably has been a limit game somewhere at those stakes (7.50/15,9/18,12/24, etc). Wouldn't running the same 10/20 (and I'll just assume 20/40 and 40/80) structure as Borgata endanger these limits of going from one strong game in AC to two weak ones. I'm curious why Revel's management wouldn't think it's a better idea to give players an option for games between 3/6 & 10/20, between 10/20 & 20/40, etc. rather than those exact stakes?

I think you're over thinking this.

I agree. Id rather see 5/10 or 6/12 in there.

They'll run whatever games that the people want. It's not a matter of what they're willing to spread (within the DGE's laws). I tried to start a 5/10 10/20 15/30 7.50/15 anything limit holdem or mixed game and my name was the only one on the list for the three hours I was there. It's going to take someone coming over with a premade group of players for awhile to get people interested in those games.

My thoughts:

+ Dealers are fast and experienced (day shift dealers, I knew all of them and they were good)
+ Floor was very nice and waitresses/waiters were prompt (will likely change to standard AC demeanor in a month or two)
+ Parking garage was well built and near elevators no matter where you park
+ Extremely pretty casino floor

- Way too dark inside, depressing, like a dungeon.
- Walk to Poker Room took forever, longest walk to a poker room in AC (from garage)
- Location (million traffic lights, traffic)
- (Dealer negative only) Bad beat and tip boxes were switched, as was the cash box. Will cost a little bit of time as dealers get used to not dropping your tips in the bad beat box.

+/- Restrooms weren't marked for gender, I almost peed in the girls bathroom on accident.

Overall I predict this room will not come close to competing for poker room dominance in Atlantic City.
