I notice that these are the exact same limits they run at Borgata. I realize NL games are almost always 1/2 or 1/3, 2/5, 5/10, etc.

However, if you pick any obtuse number, there probably has been a limit game somewhere at those stakes (7.50/15,9/18,12/24, etc). Wouldn't running the same 10/20 (and I'll just assume 20/40 and 40/80) structure as Borgata endanger these limits of going from one strong game in AC to two weak ones. I'm curious why Revel's management wouldn't think it's a better idea to give players an option for games between 3/6 & 10/20, between 10/20 & 20/40, etc. rather than those exact stakes?

I think you're over thinking this.

I agree. Id rather see 5/10 or 6/12 in there.

Re: Revel Resort (Atlantic City, NJ)

They'll run whatever games that the people want. It's not a matter of what they're willing to spread (within the DGE's laws). I tried to start a 5/10 10/20 15/30 7.50/15 anything limit holdem or mixed game and my name was the only one on the list for the three hours I was there. It's going to take someone coming over with a premade group of players for awhile to get people interested in those games.

My thoughts:

+ Dealers are fast and experienced (day shift dealers, I knew all of them and they were good)
+ Floor was very nice and waitresses/waiters were prompt (will likely change to standard AC demeanor in a month or two)
+ Parking garage was well built and near elevators no matter where you park
+ Extremely pretty casino floor

- Way too dark inside, depressing, like a dungeon.
- Walk to Poker Room took forever, longest walk to a poker room in AC (from garage)
- Location (million traffic lights, traffic)
- (Dealer negative only) Bad beat and tip boxes were switched, as was the cash box. Will cost a little bit of time as dealers get used to not dropping your tips in the bad beat box.

+/- Restrooms weren't marked for gender, I almost peed in the girls bathroom on accident.

Overall I predict this room will not come close to competing for poker room dominance in Atlantic City.

As I sit and wait for my taxi to the Metro and then Amtrak....on the way to AC.

Borgata 13 games
Revel 10 games including 2 2/5
Harrahs 7 games
Ballys 5
Showboat3
Caesars 3

Interesting.

Not a bad opening day so far for a Monday. Much better than Golden Nugget. Too bad Taj doesn't show up on Bravo Live to see how it fared. I suspect they will have between 5-10 games during the week and much better on the weekends. Borgata will always be #1 but I think Revel will be #2 within a year.

Monday afternoon isn't indicative of anything. I see 10/20NL HoldEm waiting list on the Bravo app. Anyone know the rake and buy-in structure for this game?

I personally would def shoot for 6-12, 7.50-15- or 8-16 especially of they have $2 chips. It's not over thinking as someone said... It does make a difference for some people and it will

They have a good chance. They'd be a lock for #2 if Taj ever closed their room.

As it stands now, It'll be hard getting the old regs to migrate over from Taj. But, I think they'll get a lot of the casual players from some of the other rooms.

Aren't Monday's the slowest poker days of the week?

I wouldn't mind seeing 6/12 LHE, or any mixed game between 4/8 & 10/20.

Not 100% sure, but I don't think $2 chips are approved in AC.

Wouldn't it be better to try and start this game where there is established middle limit games? Rather than at an "isolated" spot. The last thing that limit hold'em in atlantic city needs is so have the player pool divided between two rooms.

Anyone know what the rake/time situation is over there? I'm curious if they are going to do time if they get mid limit hold'em.

edit:

Looking at the bravo app, looks like they already go some of the taj players with a 2/4 and 2 3/6 games going. The 1-5 stud players are probably taking a break on the walk over so look for that game to start about 6pm, and end at 6:20 so they can get home for matlock @9.

The problem is they need people to play it. It's not as simple as opening up a game and waiting.

Borgata sometimes gets a $7.5/$15 mixed game going. I'm sure if you really wanted they would spread 7.5/15 limit holdem, but they're not going to open up a game and sit there and see if anyone is interested.

So unless you get a bunch of people to put down interest and you're really serious, the game will never run. Not that many people ever want to play $7.5/$15 mixed so it almost never runs.

Do they lose out on random people showing up and saying "wow, maybe I'll try $7.5/$15 b/c it's cool?" Yeah they do. But what's the alternative? They'd have to spread 10 different games at blank tables to figure out what (if anything) people wanna play.

This is quite true. It's a nice room but still can't compare to Borgata which will remain the number 1 room in AC. It's nice to have another nice room to play in anyways though. It may become the nicest room on the Boardwalk however.

Yes Monday's and Tuesdays are pretty slow. But this is more true for the middle & higher limit games and less so true of the small stakes games.
