There's no 5-10 at parx, it's 10-10 with peach 10 dollar chips, no reds or greens on the table.

If the WiFi here always useless or is it bad because so many people are here for the tournament?

Usually great. Probably the extra traffic. I switched to guest from parxpoker and it's running great. I'm in the high limit area so I don't know if I'm hooking into the race track downstairs or not.

went to parx sat to play cash games. made the mistake of getting there a bit early around 1pm and put my name on every list. waited 4 hours finally was able to sit at a 1 3 game for an hour until a seat at a 2 2 plo game opened.

i did notice that the new cards bend and get marked extremely easy. i mentioned it only to get a response from the dealer saying theyre all like that we dont switch them out anymore.

the 2 2 game was pretty soft at my table, i liked you could run it up to 3x if you wanted to. the 5 5 games were pretty deep so i stayed at 2 2.

the 15-30 holdem never got off tho. i had my name on interest for like 12 hours.

i still dont like that they dont serve free alcohol, not even beer.

Unfortunately, Sunday is probably the single worst day of the week for 15-30. Unless it somehow goes all night Sat night, the game will almost never get started on a Sunday in my experience.

The other 6 days have varying chances, though I think Thursdays have been bad lately as well.

Edit: woops, I see you were talking about sat. Sat isn't really a strong night for 15-30 either. Even when there is interest, the tables are often full by the time enough interest is in the room to get the game started. Summers are also usually a bit worse, because more people are at Borgata/shore. On the flip side, Big Stax weekends are often better than normal, so maybe that evens it out.

Hi need some advice:

I am thinking about driving to Parx/Sands for a one day poker trip with my wife. another option is to take my 4 year old with us. I will visit around with him whi my wife plays (she plays long hour), anything to do near Parx for a 4 year old?

Thanks.

Planning on going to Philly to play at Parx next weekend on Friday and Saturday but noticed that Big Stax will be running then. Do you think there will still be significant cash action? Mainly looking to get in on the 2-2 PLO.

Should I wait a week?

There is usually more significant cash action around the tournament times. Usually the issue may be wait times. I wouldn't worry and just go when you want to.

2/2 runs almost 24/7. Just call an hour before you plan to play to get on the list. Minimize wait time that way. See you at the tables.

Really glad I finally got a chance to check out the room. Can't believe how big it is. Food service at the tables was awesome. Dealers all seemed to know what they were doing. Walking to my hotel (Holiday Inn) in the middle of the night didn't feel unsafe. And I happened to run pretty hot, so it was a great trip.

But I have to say, those are legit some of the worst cards I've ever seen. Tiny numbers and extremely stiff made it very difficult to sweat your hand. The backs looked fine, but the fronts of the cards had so much paint missing you'd swear they were 5 years old. Also really weird/annoying that you can't play behind while waiting for chips. Still a great room, though.

Yeah hopefully they go back to there old cards soon. Glad you enjoyed the room. I was a Borgata guy for years but have been here steady for years now. Closer and better IMO by a mile.
When I make my initial buy in at the cage I pick up extra blacks to avoid having to wait or to sell at the table if need be. Keeps the game moving. Then when the chip runner comes I'll get more.

How is the 2/2 plo structured? $5 bring in, time rake, run 2x?

$100-$500 buyin.

No $5 bring in. It's $2 to go, max open is $8.

$5/half hour time charge.

As long as it's heads up, you can run up to 4x I believe. 2x for preflop allin.

I ran it twice pre and they called the floor over to verify we were allowed to. Apparently it's weird because it uses the last card in the deck. They let it happen, though.

I really thought the other guy in the hand was Matt Marafioti at first. Kinda disappointed when I realized it wasn't. :/

On the second run out, if you're going to use the last card, then there is no burn before the second flop. The last card in the deck should never be used... at least that's how I've seen it down at Parx and Borgata before.

I really hate this. Aggravating for the guy who gets felted and very bad for the game.

I always have chips in my pocket to use/sell for this reason. Its absolutely terrible for the game for someone to bust and not be able to play the next hand if they want to.
