I railed this game for a few minutes, lots of green and black chips on table 14 today. No stud today . 2-5 NLHE was a nice mix of locals and people in town for the tourney.

Was up as PBKC last 2 days for the series, turnout looked a bit less than previous years. No complete sellouts for the million yet.

I was looking for Mojo Conti and didn't see him, then one of the players there told me he was banned from there?

This can't be true...anyone out there have the scoop?

Hi MickeyB105,

I have to apologize for the lack of stud interest so far. I really thought we'd have gotten at least a couple games going by now based on previous years' performance. Still, fingers crossed for the coming week. Hopefully we'll get that diverse player set that wants to mix up their games!

Thanks,
TTJ

Keep trying TTJ. I feel Hold 'em is the least interesting poker game but I play it because of the lack of choices.

Maybe poker rooms could offer games like Stud hi/lo or 7-2 Triple Draw with for promotions.

The last time I was there I thought it would be a great Stud/Razz room and it needs a break promo to get it going. You guys rake high and maybe some promos to get other games is a good marketing move.

Keep in mind florida poker players are conditioned to playing hold em mostly so getting different games besides Omaha isn't so easy.

That's running a limited number of promotions like a no rake weekend for 2 tables of 7 Card Stud in week 1, Stud Hi/Lo for week 2, Razz for week 3 and Pineapple for week 4. Poker rooms need to think like a business or their customer base will never grow.

I think timing has a lot to do with it as well. We had a regular stud/8 game a few years ago, but it dissipated. We've done promo's and tourneys to support plo, stud, o8 and several other games, but the response was meager at best. We do get a stud game on Friday during the day. We'll have to look for another opportunity on our schedule to make ourselves a destination for these other games.

Thanks,
TTJ

I will be in the area next week and will be interested in playing. How many 2/5 tables run during the day?

Has anybody played the Wednesday evening $30/$20 rebuy/addon tourney? Wondering how many players it normally gets. Will be in town Wednesday and am looking for a tourney to play in.

Just so you know it is a huge rebuy fest and there is no guaranteed payout. The Friday night guarantee is much more lucrative.

I think it will be a fairly low turnout for two reasons: 1) They are running a high hand promotion $500 every fifteen minutes 2) the player of the month competition does not start back up until March 1, so regulars are taking time off.

My guess is 3 tables. 6 at the most.

Is coconut creek too far? Their Wednesday night tournament is a much better deal, although it takes longer.

Any word on making players who transfer tables (to the same game) making them take their entire stack to the new table? A floor guy (can't think of his name he's probably the newest one, bald like you & its not Brett) said he was going to bring this issue up w/ you & Noah.

It's bad for the games & even Pokerstars has now instituted rules against short stackers doubling or tripling up & hoping to a new table/same game only to re-buy for the minimum.

this would be as stupid and as ignorant, as instituting a rule that if a guy left Palm beach casino and went to the seminole hard to play, that he had to buyin to their $1 2 NL game for the exact amount he left ur $1-2 game with. its different players, wtf cares?

i travel to commerce from vegas to play there all the time, because u too can move tables there and rebuy with $40. does wonders to make sure u can 100% never run out of money and grow a small roll substantially over time.

Would like to see this as well. Agree it's bad for the game and pisses people off.

Your argument doesn't make sense at all. Jswitch is talking about moving tables in the same casino/site, you are talking about driving to a different place 50 miles away.

am making the arguement that since in either case u are playing with totally different people, why should it matter if its in the same casino or not? its like as if u moved from omaha to stud or vice versa.

Omaha and stud are different games so totally different situation.

If you rathole you are angle shooting the game and if a player from the table you were at moves to the new table at some point then it's no longer all different players and it's just a way to take money off the table/out of play.

explain whats the difference between walking to the casino next door with a min buyin, and walking to a new table with all different players with the same min buyin. either way, its all new people. the same guy u speak of could also walk in the casino across the street too.

what is important is that people have the right to quit anytime they feel like it, and to sit back down whenever they feel like it. most cardrooms u can even rathole the same table as long u wait 30 min to an hour to sit back down.

You actually contradict yourself in the second part of your post. If you have to wait 30 minutes to an hour then you actually can't sit back down whenever you feel like it. Cash games are great because you can come or go as you please but you are trying to skew the rules to benefit your view.

I think you are repeating yourself with the different player thing(which I addressed). You seem like you shortstack and rathole yourself so you will probably think it's ok no matter what and I doubt you will listen to any logical argument against it since you want to do it and you feel it benefits you.

The ONLY reason people rathole is to take money out of play(effectively the same as going south), which would be against the rules if they stayed at the same table so it's not ok. It can also hurt all the players at the table and the casino by making it shorthanded and possibly breaking the game just to take that money out of play.

I don't want to derail this thread having a debate that has been had extensively in other threads so I won't keep posting on this topic in this thread after this. If you want to continue the conversation through PM feel free.

Take this nonsense to PM's. TTJ has been made aware of the possibility of ratholing while transferring tables, leave it at that.

I'll be in the Palm Beach area next week (3/18-3/21) and plan on stopping by the PBKC poker room. What limit games are spread there?

Not much. Hold em Limit 2-2 and 2-4 (people playing for high hands)
On Fridays there is a stud hi game 1-3. But you have to get there by 8:30 am at the latest to have one of the 8 seats when the place opens at 10am. (You could always play something else and hope a seat opens later).

^^ Generally the 5-10 plays $500-$2,500 but we get a couple different iterations growing out of that. This weekend the big games were $1,000-$5,000 buy in, $10-$25 1 round hold'em 1 round PLO.
