What's up! I usually come up one or two times for Sat's for the WSOP main event but it looks like there aren't any this year!

Hi Josh,

Any chance you would run a monthly PLO8 MTT? If I recall, the last PLO8 event there got 199 runners and there were 37 people on the cash game list for PLO8

Someone will drop in after a month or so and ignore most of the posts.

Anybody from PBKC reading this? Anyone?

Perhaps we should get a group together to go to the poker room directly to suggest this...

Meanwhile, there are TWO PLO8 events scheduled at the Hard Rock in Hollywood in August. In case you Palm Beach guys want to come down.

If anyone in Lake Worth vicinity wants to start a carpool I would be interested.

2/2 and 2/4 Limit Holdem is only thing I think they have. Never seen a LO8 table if that's what you're asking.

So i was going to send a message to the KC rep on here to talk about this issue I have without making a big deal about it, but seeing how he has not posted here in quite a long time. I will post it here.

So at the table tonight talk started to come up about the badbeat jackpot, and someone mentions how its barely going up. Many of us just assume its because of the high hand promo going on all the time now, which is fine. But then the dealer starts telling us that a good amount of the bad beat drop is going towards the tournaments as well, I have a problem with this.

She says that a good amount of the money that is collected from the $2 jackpot drop from each hand is going towards offsetting tournament overlays as well as the freeroll tournaments. This should be a serious concern for cash players.

Now i do not know the exact figures of the overlays for the tournaments that the jackpot would be covering, so I wont even begin to make assumptions about the numbers. But the player of the month promos, add up to some serious money being taken away from the cash players promotions.

Top 5 players get 8k in cash, and then there is the 25k freeroll tournament. Adding up to 33k essentially taken out of the pockets of the cash players who are the life blood of the poker room.

I may be making a big deal out of this, I know. But with the tournament players not contributing at all to the "promo money", the cash players are subsidizing all of the tournament promotions. And who knows what else that "bad beat jackpot" drop is being used for...

I think if they tournament players want promotions, they need to up the fees for the tournaments, because as someone who players 99% cash. I do not want my 2$ from every hand going to tournament players who put nothing in. Especially when PBKC has zero rewards program for poker. How about putting the money towards that. At least then everyone gets a reward.

I would love an explanation from someone in charge

Not to mention that tournament players like me have moved on, because the whole thing is incentivized to the guys who play every single day, with lots of rebuys and reentries.

Im pretty sure they dont use the money for overlays they just had a 25k overlay memorial day weekend..plus its not allowed.. as far as putting towards their tournament promotions thats another story its just not right at all..All badbeat money should be awarded where the bb money is taking end of story.Their omaha game runs everyday plus some times they get like 2 games on some nights but the bad beat goes up like a dripping foucet.

Almost every card room in Florida uses the jackpot money to pad their tournaments. I tried to bring up the legality of it when we first switched over to uncapped buy-ins, but I got nowhere with the Division of Pari-Mutuel Wagering ...

yes they can give away tickets but there not suppose to just say hey we missed the garuantee by 10k just take it out of the badbeat its illegal according to the state of florida.

I feel like the use of the BBJ drop shouldn't be used as a slush fund for promotional activity. I know its used for the high hand payouts, while even that I don't know if I'm okay with, its still being used to help pump the card room full of fish which is good.

Using the money for tournament promotion actually takes people off the cash tables by forcing them to play the tournaments to get the PoM promos which I am NOT okay with. So the money I am paying at the cash tables is being used for promotions which takes players out of the room i play in.

If PBKC wants to bow down to the tournament players, they should do it with money out of the rake.

Do we have evidence they used it for an overlay?

I am going to post on their Facebook page that they need to get over here and start responding.

Therein lies your problem, its not a BBJ drop but it is in fact a promotional drop. That money can be used in any number of ways besides being dumped into the BBJ fund

The jackpot money can not be used for overlays in tournaments. The state audits parimutuels to see how much they have taken and how it's been paid out. Which is why they need ID/ have u sign for ur high hand. As far as tournament promotions it looks like there maybe a gray area. Someone from KC should clear that up. I agree jackpot money shouldn't be funding tournament promos

Even when everywhere throughout the cardroom it says that the house takes a rake for the "bad beat jackpot" not "promotional drop"?

1. Promotional money is not used to cover tournament guarantee overlays.

2. Tournament players contribute to the promotional fund with every tournament ticket they buy.

Hope that helps.
