My comment had nothing to do with jackpot drop. The fact that they rake preflop is absolutely absurd (I saw them rake the full 5 on a 4bet and other guy folded). Easily costs me 2k+ a year in money.

No other place does it. I wouldn't care about comps, appearance of the place, or even the fact we have to pay for water, if they just didn't rake preflop.

I believe only the Isle is NFND, everyone else in South Florida pulls rake preflop.

Good to know, thank you. I thought I remembered Will from MG saying he was going to implement NFND right before he left.

How can a card room take a jackpot drop without a flop? One cannot even be eligible to win a jackpot/bbjp/ high hand etc without a flop. Crazy.

HHR takes a jackpot w/out a flop as well.

I had a dealer try to explain it to me, but basically it was an old rule that they never changed and they wanted to build the BBJ. I agree its silly

The few things I found super tilting (that i experienced).

The money bubble bursting on day 2. I like the idea of round for round, what I did NOT like was when the floor said "everyone sit down we are about to deal," then 2 minutes later decided we were taking a 10 minute break, 10 minutes later decided it was a 20 minute break, and then an hour later we took another 25 minute break.

Coming into day 3 with 4 tables.
We had 29 people coming into day 3. Why we couldn't have 3 tables of 10-10-9 and play it out I just don't understand to be honest. Must be a tournament thing my noobie mind hasn't seen yet. Playing for a half hour then redrawing was weird. Minimum we should have played to 27 the night before and then come back.

Coming into day 3 and the floor DIDN'T know the blind structures yet. He didn't notice there was no blind structure until I asked him when I got there an hour ahead of time what the blinds were going to be. he managed to get it together right away, but that was still weird.

On a plus note- Great attitudes from everyone. I took a moment to mention two dealers in particular to the supervisors, but the supers themselves (during tournaments) also did a pretty darned good job. I hope i see you guys next time I play a WSOPc.
tyvm and Nice playing in the million! We'll look forward to seeing you again next year, and we'll review and adjust on the issues mentioned itt.

Thanks again,
TTJ

Would someone please explain how the charity tournaments work, such as the special Olympics one coming up. What percentage of the entries, prize pool, rebuys goes to charity. Does the kennel club still take a fee?

Thanks

I gotta be honest, I've been pretty disappointed with how long it takes the floor to get tables filled up at 2-5 and 1-2. Since the circuit events started, it routinely takes 10-20 minutes to get open seats filled, despite there being a list.

And nothing the room can do about this, but the short stacking seems worse here then I've seen anywhere else. Almost every table I've say at, it seems at best, at least 3 seats are min buyins, and usually more. So frustrating. Got stuck with 7 seats sitting under 35 blinds on Friday night before I gave up and bailed.

I saw 5-10 tables with a 100bb min buy in. Is there any possibility of instituting this at the lower stakes?

It seems to be a south florida thing. The HR, where most of the tourist play, is the best for full buyins. i tried playing there all winter last year and got frustrated with the short buyinns. I remember opening a game at the isle once and 7 of the 10 people bought in for the min 40BB. So tilting.

The WSOP was going on...!!!!

Now that it is over, it won't be like that anymore.

The "high tech system" PBKC used is broken and can not be repaired (the company is out of business). They now use the very old, original card on table, brush picks up card and brings it to the check in stand system. Check in stand calls the player name, player must pick-up card and head to the table. That takes a long time.

In terms of short-buying at 2/5, Noah, what do you think of a, say, $400-1000 game? I, too, share the frustration of seeing so many shortstacks in that game. If given the option of buying in for $200 at 1/2 or 2/5, you know what most players will choose. Those who buy in deeper are at a disadvantage.

It would be nice to have a must-move, but I figure that I'd start with something that is attainable.

Must move isn't practical at 2/5 nl, too many games.

Edit: and you won't get more than one that isn't 200-500

Can anyone tell me some about this freeroll tonight, 5k guar with 1.5k starting chips? The woman at the desk said there were rebuys but couldnt tell me how much. Is there an optional addon when you first sit down, and if so how much is it?

It's basically the same as a normal rebuy tournament except your first bullet is free. You'll start with 1500 chips and it's $20 rebuys after that. $20 addon at break. Standard stuff.

Actually the add on is $10 increments up to $50. If you have the patience its a pretty fun tourney. Last time I played I was there until 2 am.

Would be nice if now that the series is over someone from pbkc would actually come back here and answer some questions. It is ridiculous how difficult it is to get details about tournaments, especially when there is different info in different ads for the very same tournies.

Addon is up to $50? Dam was hoping it was just $20

And yes, being patient is definately a virtue that helps in poker tournaments but other factors are important. I know I'm awesome, just broke as a joke so now I have to run rough equity calcs to determine if I can get away with spending less than the full $50 on addon (its 1k chips per $10).

Am I the only one who isn't sure what this means?:

"$20 double stack add on."

Is that two add-ons or just a regular old add on with extraneous words? Or maybe the add on is double the original stack?

I know it isn't that important but if no one there can answer this question now, and I have been asking all over, I suspect there might be some confusion during the actual tournament. (But what else is new).
