Does anyone on this forum play in the 4/8 omaha 8 game at PBKC? I really like playing it and have been driving down to the isle about twice a week. Each time I have tried to play it at PBKC i sat on an interest list and it never got going or i sat on the wait list and didnt get to play.Is there a certain time/day? Is there anyway we can get a consistent game going? or is the player base just not there? I would really love to make this game run more, if anyone wants to play or has any ideas speak up,

The tournament starts at 12pm, but we allow buy-ins for 1 hour after so you can get in until 1pm.

Thanks,

I see the hours of operation shows they open at 9AM.

What kind of volume can one expect in the morning hours during the week?

# of tables? game types?

Went there for my first time a couple days ago after hearing PBKC is one of the few places with a $5/$10nl game with a deep buyin. Nice place, beatable game, and helpful staff. I'll return on my next trip down to Florida for sure.

One 'small' complaint:
The Cards - By far the UGLIEST deck of cards I've ever played with in my life. I can't imagine anyone would prefer them. I'm young and have good eye sight, and still struggled at times to differentiate between clubs and spades. I wish I could post a picture of them, but I can't even find them online because nobody uses them.

Sometime in November, Noah promise a $5000. Omaha 8 free roll tournament. This would help start a daily 4/8 Omaha 8 cash game. When asked, it was alway next month. As of April 6, 2011, there has been NO Omaha 8 tournament. Noah talks a great game, but does nothing for the non NL hold'em players. They even left off the HORSE tournament this month because they had a negative prize pool in March. If you want to play Omaha 8 (4/8 or 8/16) try the Isles.

I agree, I have great eyes and with glasses on ( not dark tinted ) I have to focus to differentiate suits... I thought it was just me or the cheap glasses. All the decks that I was used to on Poker Stars I could see clearly even when I wore my dark tinted glasses.

Can someone please help...

I'm new to live poker and went to PBKC last night. I know the rake may be high but I can understand that is paid for by the absolutely ridiculous action one gets with a good hand (1/2 NL )... The play reminds me of the 1/2 CENT stakes online.

That being said I cant grasp the whole 2 dollar ante on the button; is there another reason for this besides to pay the rake or to incite action? Like I said Im new to live poker ( thanks DOJ ) but Im seeing this as a major leak. Obviously Im not blind stealing ( rake, no one folds, from what I seen over 12 hours on 4 tables ) so instead of the usual $30 for ninety hands im now paying $50 and over an 8 to 24 hour session this seems like a major cost... ? Should I not worry about it and continue to just chalk up to the loose structure of the players? Or should I travel the little bit farther to the Isle or Hard Rock if Im playing long term? Because if the loose play makes up for the higher rake and $20 more dollars per ninety hands should I travel a bit further and make the the extra money ( rake savings/$2 button ) at a loose game just south of there? Or is the play at PBKC 1/2 NL that much worse than the competitors casino? Im completely unaware and any advice would be appreciated!

Play 2/5, there is no $2 button nonsense and the rake structure is the same.

Thanks for the quick response.

Okay, that makes perfect sense... One problem, my bankroll is tied up online and Im starting from scratch ( fml ) and from the bottom. Should I just endure at the dog track or travel south till I have adequate and comfortable funds for the 2/5? Im playing way behind now which sucks and is adding unwanted pressure to me let alone worrying about losing even more money per hour than just playing somewhere else.

The play is so unbelievably bad that you can easily shot take at 2/5 with $500-$800. DO NOT BLUFF! They literally have no clue what anything you're doing means and it is a perfect example of level 1 thinking. GL

I have seen this in action here at PBKC 2/5 years ago when I first started out. After reading every poker book known to man, the first time I ever played for real was at these tables, and I did make money. I went the online route though instead because of the volume of hands I could see in the same period of time in comparison to playing live. I cant believe play overall hasnt improved over the years...lmao But judging by what Im seeing at the 1/2 so far this week I def. believe you. I would like to take that shot because I could build a roll quickly that way but I may grind out on the 1/2 till I have a couple thousand for the 2/5. Comfortable is important because if I cant play my game I lose money. THANKS a lot!!

No prob, I'm in the same boat. I primarily played online but would make trips around the state to play the larger cash games, now it is the wonderful life of 20-25 hands an hour

Yeah, its different...lol But its entertaining ( the acting is horrible!* ) and its a skill I will need ( live poker ) if this is what Im going to do; so Im taking it as a everything happens for reason situation :-)

*Bad acting moments like this make it almost worth the effort... ( bear in mind im new to reading humans in the live habitat ). There was a 5 bet pot and the flop comes Q,J,J and the 5 bettor instantly looks like he has no Idea what to do with the hand, and then that triggered his acting response of, this hand is soooo horrible I have no idea what to do with it... It was obvious to me that he was gonna turn over the flopped boat on the river and all the agony he was enduring was surely a good chuckle to myself! :-)

GL Bro'!

Noah, a question about showing 1 or both cards when heads up. Why is it not allowed? A dealer (a goood one by the way) explained to me tonite that showing cards heads up ain't kosher because most dealers don't know how to control the action or the table. His understanding was that the house has the rule to protect players from bad/incompetemt dealers. Seems weird to me since I think most of the dealers at the PBKC are pretty good. If it has nothing to do with dealer competency can you plz explain? Thanks!

The 100-300 game runs everyday 1-3 games during the week-3-5 on weekends.

The big game runs everyday 1 table, often 2 during the week and 2 or more on the weekends.

10-25 PLO was running and playing big Wed night. Most of the time the 5-10
500-2500 gets going around 11-noon.
