Hell, sign me up.

You wouldn't be eligible until after you completed the 1025 hands. I don't think you equation works.

At least it's better than the Derby player rewards.

Ah, I see. You have to get the points, THEN you're eligible.

So it's basically a meaningless promo as far as getting any new players in the room. It's just to possibly reward people who (apparently) have no jobs and already spend 8-12 hours a day there.

Good move. Those people may have left and gone home to take a shower without this promo.

Figured I would comment on the place since it is one of the few places I regularly play, wouldn't say I was a regular though. I usually play 1-2 NL and have played 1-2 PLO a few times. 2-4NL when I played was very loose, and they let you play fairly deep (150bb) compared to 1/2NL and 1/2 PLO. PLO plays almost every night nowadays, and has an essentially mandatory $5 straddle. Most of the house rules don't apply in the PLO/high limit room I guess because that's where the money is moving around. Hard to play deep bc of 500 max buyin, and it is extremely loose but a lot of fun.

The 1/2 tables are mostly populated by older nits, a good quantity of middle aged degens who will never get any better, and a lot of chasers. The room is a little run down but its not a dump, the restaurant upstairs is very nice. Friday/Saturday nights are best, 9-5ers are out of work and want to have fun.

As long as I have been going there the floor has been competent, always ruling in the best interest of the game. Dealers in general are good but get very chatty with sports with regs, some guys who are clearly miserable, and a number of female dealers who are quiet but cheerful.

The tournaments are high rake and now have $10 add ons for $45 tourneys. I played one last week and got 5th but only cashed for $133, that was out of 67 players. There is a crowd, however, of exclusive tourney players, and when they come into the cash games, they tend to be good action.

I never have a problem when I am there, it isn't the classiest place in the world, but if you are just coming to play poker, I'd recommend it.

Does 2/4NL run every night still? Does the 5/10NL game every get going anymore? Might be down there around Thanksgiving. Thanks.

33BB or PX could probably respond more accurately on the 5/10, but I doubt it as I was there last Friday and there was a 1/2 PLO going on in the back room.

We had 3 2/4 tables going to about midnight, when it broke down to 2. By 1 am, just a single table. Every night I've gone in the past few months (2-3 times) there has been a 2/4 going, but not sure about every night early/mid week.

If you're here over Thanksgiving, my guess is it will be busier than normal.

There is still horrendous play. Still no bluffing. Still value if you can put up with the moronic/cliched comments from the mouth breathers.

I haven't been up here in forever, but talking with the regs there has not been a 5/10 in months. That game was replaced with a standard 1/2/5 PLO and occasionally 5/5/10 PLO.

As for 2/4, I cannot comment based on experience, but again talking with people that play 2/4 daily, it is exactly what Abhorsen said on the weekend nights, with 1-3 tables during the week.

The room is extremely daytime heavy as the majority of the players are retirees or have night jobs. Seems like the place is busiest when they first open and from after lunch to 7pm.

Thanks for the helpful info, I'm sure I'll be there some day this week. Be nice to the "tourist".

Played Wednesday afternoon until the early evening at the 2/4 NL table. Typical 2/4 play, mostly horrible with a couple bright spots. . Decent dealers and good service. Horrible chairs.

Hey Guys,

I am going to be in the longboat key area again in the next couple weeks.

I played in the bigger game in the back room a couple times last year (NL/PLO mix), can't remember which 2p2er introduced me to the game, but if you see this, Please PM me.

Wow. I cannot believe Sam switched to 2/5, he was always so adamant about 2/4.

Doubtful that the PLO game was 5/10 with only 10k on the table. That sounds more like a small/ medium 1/2/5 game.

Good to hear he finally made the switch though, it might be worth it to stop back in and check out what else has improved.

No kidding.

Next thing you know, they'll get rid of the stupid betting line, up the buy-in to 200BB, get both sides of the room somewhere between freezing and boiling, and get some decent chairs.

I'll be over here not holding my breath.

What are some of the nicer rooms in the area (let's say 100 miles)?

100 miles you have:

Tampa Hard Rock
Derby Lane
Silks
Tampa Greyhound
Naples (maybe a little over)

In the order of most amount of games/ worth visiting, to least.

Fwiw, the Bravo Poker Live app, has most of them with up to the minute games running.

THR and Silks are on Bravo... Derby Lane at http://www.derbylanepoker.com has their own live list on their website.

I haven't seen Naples or Sarasota on their. Lucky's (Tampa Greyhound) obviously does not.

Ty good sirs I'm at the hard rock right now. They have a nice promotion going till the 24th(?) where you spin a wheel for prizes. Half of them are SWAG BAGS (a bunch of useless crap) but the other half are various items worth 100-1000

Last edited by Dirty Mags; 12-14-2012 at 04:12 AM. Reason: You have to play 5 hrs to spin

Guarantee you that 10k on the table is the 1/2/5 PLO game. Last time I played in there, guy in seat 7 had 4500 alone.
