You won't find lo/8 anywhere but THR. As far as nlh the games are very soft here but a better selection elsewhere. Tournaments, I would only play the Saturday $160 and the Wednesday mega chop, everything else go to derby lane for tournaments. The room itself is decent with much more of a home game feel with everyone joking around and buying eachother drinks.

Haven't been to SKC in forever, but planning on going tomorrow. Can anyone advise as to when the 2/4 NL game gets going during the week? I know a few months ago it didn't start running until a couple of hours after opening.

TIA

It has been losing players to PLO. Game gets going when all the regs show up around 2ish, sometimes breaks, then gets going again in the evening. I can't remember the last time I saw more than one table of 2/4nl.

OK, thanks.

So still basically a short handed 2/4 with a bunch of regs who don't want to play each other? Got it. Think I'll pass.

To be honest, I was looking for a reason not to have to go. I was only going since a friend was in town and didn't want to drive to THR, but I guess I'll force him to the more I think about it.

I'd bet a good amount of money that 50% of the players in that game are either soft playing each other, are married to each other, or are dating the dealers.

Last time I was there, saw some chick drag a $100 pot and push about $60 to the dealer as he left the table. And no-one seems to have a problem with it. I left.

Only time I saw the floor do anything was when one half of a married couple (they were the only ones in the pot) flat called on the river with the nuts. Funny thing is they were (supposedly) clueless as to what they had done wrong.

There is a semi-private 5/5/10 that runs once a week atm where we are able to run it twice. Game usually runs on Fridays but with a few more of the higher stakes guys back down for the winter it should be going more regularly soon. PM if you want info.

I played on Tuesday night for for a bit there were 2 2/4 NL games going, although by 10pm or so one of them broke and joined our table. Only 2nd time playing here. Interesting group of players for sure. A few seem to want to just give money away, luckily to me a few times...lol.

Just moved back to Sarasota, I play here occasionally and would like to play more now that I am here full time.
I have played at the rock and many other dog tracks. I am wondering why all the hate on this place. They must realize this is a Dog Track- yes they charge sometimes at the door- as other tracks do when racing is going on.

People say its dirty, I find it to be clean for the most part.
Dealers and floor have been OK overall
It is a little dark, and the bartenders do sit and watch the tv leaving the only patron waiting on drinks to sit for a few minutes.

Servers are cute/efficient
I like the high hand payouts/could care less about the BBJ- wish that was not dropped but what ya going to do
Few competent players(only play nl)

To those who stated they would rather drive hour to play is beyond comprehensible.

Unless I knew I wanted to play much past 3 am, I would head to SKC

I will be playing tomorrow. MAYBE I did not look at details of room, skill of dealers, and overall cleanliness; ill take a second look- maybe I am way off.

Went back. I must admit some rulings are rediculous

You have to show your hand.. cannot muck .. that changes the whole game

If you call someones 55 dollar river bet and just throw out 3 25 chips .. that must be a raise.. i was told to make it 110 total. WTF is that

2/4 is the highest nl game??

dealers are not very professional.. talking about play- not precise dealing either

again waited for bartender to get drink

Will not be playing here regularly

Anyone in srq know of a game?

Played 2/4 No Limit last night. I agree with the others in this thread that this room is pretty terrible.

Rake/jackpot drop is huge - $5 max rake + $2 jackpot + dealer tip.

Dealers are terrible - they don't announce bet/raise amounts, don't re-stack bets into neat piles so you can see what action you're facing, frequent sloppy card handling (showing cards, etc.), often couldn't keep track of the action (had to be reminded by the players), and it would take an act of god for them to announce after a betting round how many players are still in the hand.

The room looks sort of crummy overall - the felt was all worn away and crappy looking. Cocktail waitresses look trashy, but at least she was wearing a small corset that pushed up her giant hooters, causing you to forget that she could stand to lose about 20 lbs..

That said, the play at my table was really soft. I ran good, won tons of money but the whole time I was frustrated by the shoddiness of the whole operation, especially the crappy dealers.

Skc is closed for Christmas, but will be open tomorrow. There is going to be a 5/5/10 and 5/10/20 mix game on Monday but I do believe it is already full to start. There will also most likely be a 1/2/5 PLO game that fires right up around 11-11:30

Both THR and Naples are about an hour away. Out of the two, Naples has waaaay better PLO action. Last time i was there they had 3 2/5 games going around midnight on a friday night. Lucky's is about an hour and 15 min away and they always have a 1/2/5 game going

The bigger game at Skc fires up right at 11am and if there are any open seats that would be the best time to show up.

Thanks for all the info guys.

How is a game already filled when it doesn't start until Monday?

I have never heard of that.

Sarasota dog track@ I dont know why people saying is dirty and dealer are bad.In dog track the game is really easy many old people you can win a lot there, people there dont know how to fold top pair.Bathroom are clean and dealers are fine and waiters are nice and quick. The rake is normal like everywhere else but plus they taky another rake for high hand thats mean 4 of the kind and more you will get 599 dollars just to hit it they will give you the money if is more than 20 bucks in pot and if is not you can ask people in the hand to help put some money into the pot.PlO is good ovethere too people like to gambe a lot there.Tourney easy but the rake is a lot more than 25% of price going to house. If you are competent player you can definitelly win a lot there on cash game. What else can i say jus EASY GAME GL ALL

Apparently some time ago they changed the 2/4 NL game here to a max $600 BI (from $400). Minimum is still $200 I think. (I just found out this weekend as I haven't gone in a while and went with some friends who didn't want to drive up to HR.) 150BB is so much better than 100. Hopefully we can get to 200 soon.

Still, 150BB may be enough for me to give them another shot on a regular basis. Would be nicer if the minimum was at least $300 though.

I'm hoping they did this with all the games. The 5/10 dried up, I haven't been up there in forever as I have not recieved any texts about the semi-private game in the back we were running and the PLO was getting nitty. With 5/10 dead, the expanded BI for 2/4 will really help fill a void. And 1/2 with the same structure would allow some people on heaters to play the larger games.

Sam, I know you read this even if you aren't active in the 2+2 community, 1/2 at $60-$300?
