Its a lot of work. Overall I'm about 5 for 8 in getting this game started, but hey I'm a big fish just looking to have fun.
Here's what to do.

1) Start a list
2) keep bugging the brush to announce interest list (shouldn't have to do this)
3) Once you get 6 on the list ask floor to call the game.
4) be willing to start short handed. - Here's were people start arguing about playing Hi/LO or half and half. I always vote Hi only, and refuse to play anything else.
5) keep bugging the floor to anounce open seats.

Usually the game will start mid-afternoon and break around 8:30PM.

Re: Mohegan Sun Poker Thread

Ended up at MS for two nights, Monday and Tuesday after Memorial Day. Had time to kill, so headed for the poker room at night. I liked that the room was separate from the casino. Monday night had one 2/5 with a must and must-must move going. 5/10 was always short and eventually broke. Played 2/5 and game was mostly regulars. Duh. I mean who would go to the MS for a vacation? No alcohol served after around midnight. Room had no energy, but I guess that’s to be expected with maybe a dozen tables of low limit grinders. Staff were okay but they looked and acted BORED.

Tuesday night was different - worse. Fewer games and the staff were cranky. I got passed up on the 2/5 list (3) when a couple regulars showed up. Then dropped off the list entirely while playing at 1/2 waiting for the 2/5. No 5/10 was going. I got attitude when I asked to be put back on the list.

Eventually I made it to the one table of 2/5, which got short then filled up, thankfully. Around midnight staff asked everyone at the table to move to the lower floor - LOL at 2/5 being on the “upper level.” They needed to clean the area. Cleaning started about three HOURS later. The game was still going thanks to a guy who in his own words, “didn’t care about money.” He had a girl on his arm who looked far from impressed with the avalanche of chips spewing from his stack. He left after dropping about 2K and the game broke shortly thereafter.

Something seemed really wrong with the room. Most of the regulars complained that MS needed to do something to bring in more players, but when I asked what, nobody had a clue. My guess? It’s a combination of bad economy (like everywhere) and indifferent management. Rake was higher than LV too. And they take a buck per hand for a high-hand award that goes off several times a day. Tuesday night it was only about $750 when awarded. That’s how slow it was.

For me it's soley game selection.

I could imagine that other factors (for other peeps) would be:

1. shorter commute
2. more sng's and tourneys (game selection I guess)
3. better comps / free rooms etc.
4. bbj

No. What time were you there? I don't look (or maybe play, lol) like a typical 2+2er. If you were there from 6:30-9:30, I played with you.

Thank you, I thought I was going to stare at a set of sixes there and throw up. But very fortunate for sure. You weren't the 8 were you?

Re: Mohegan Sun Poker Thread

anybody remember the sunday morning stud tourney at the 'old' poker room?

they'd be sold out _early_
@ 120 players every week.

you'd get a free buffet ticket and the joint was PACKED all day ......... every sunday.

ahh ........those were the days!

Billy I remember those tourneys. One thing though if i recall correctly is that the stud tourney would get over 180+ players and the holdem tourney would get the 120+ players. It was a $25 buy in with a $10 rebuy. And you would get a food voucher for $7.95 which was the exact cost of the breakfast buffet.

Most of the games in the room would break down cause everyone was playing the tourney. As a matter of fact that is where i was when i heard the old room was closing due to not enough interest in poker. In a line for a stud tourney that was going to have close to 200 players, jeez no interest right. And in those days a tourney was big if it had 200 players.

Ahhh I remember these tourneys too. Brings back good old memorys.

I thought the old poker room got shut down because of the cheating and drug dealing in the nearby bathroom? Not from a lack of interest in poker.

IDK, I never saw anything, but everyone else seems to have, or know someone who has, or heard from a guy who did, or heard from a guy who heard from a guy.

Re: Mohegan Sun Poker Thread

why choose fw > ms other than game selection?

answer = who the **** cares? i'm a 20 and 40 limit player. they don't have games from what i understand so for me it wouldn't even be a possibility.

i did hear they have higher (75, 1/2, 150/3) mixed action though.
