Re: Mohegan Sun Poker Thread

I feel they went to 9 handed due to a dwindling player pool. Location of room perhaps an issue. Also.....the way they allow the old nit regs to take up seats by dropping $60 worth of chips on the table then walking around, chit chatting, playing craps or BlackJack, and NOT playing poker only further causes the player pool to head over to FW........they never enforce 3rd man walking rules.....IMHO. It just KILLS the action as MOST player dont want to play 5/6 handed......

Yes this is another problem that needs to be fixed. Unfortunately when dealers keep their own tokes, they dont want to piss off their regs and won't say anything. Most of the floors are dual rates and won't speak up either because of the same reason.

One other thing is the fact they never want a waiting list. There have been plenty of times Ive seen them call a new game with only 6 or 7 on the waiting list and open seats all around the room.I understand the people want to play but instead of having 4 or 5 tables with 6 or 7 players, you could have 3 full ones.

yep....seen that as well. I like MS, and want to see the Poker Room do well.....but clearly some stuff needs to be improved......

Re: Mohegan Sun Poker Thread

Its hard for MS to win by innovating because Foxwoods steals all their good ideas. Rake instead of Time charge. The bounty tournaments.

MS needs to find something to attract people there. A good atmosphere and good service would help.

That is correct, Foxwoods changed to rake a few months later when they saw how much more popular the raked game at Mohegan was.

The same thing happened with the bounty tournaments, Mohegan first followed a few months later by Foxwoods.

I haven't tried PLO at Mohegan. What are my chances of getting a 1/2 game going?

0%

Foxwoods can't even get a consistent PLO game going and the traffic there is exponentially higher.

Id like to play half 2/5nl and 1/2PLO, That game has a better shot of filling up and staying going than a straight 1/2PLO most likely. What day did you wanna play?

Re: Mohegan Sun Poker Thread

Can someone please explain to me why they prefer FW over MS besides game selection. I just don't get it. And some of the claims I've seen posted here about favoritism towards regs are just ridiculous imo. I've never seen anything done differently than the 10 other card rooms I've played in in my life. I play there 2-3 times a week. Also, why would you dislike a 9 handed game? If you're truly a poker player and not a nit, you should relish shorter handed games (not that 9 handed is shorthanded, lol). I much prefer the added comfort as well.

Anyway, last night there were 4-5 2-5 games that looked juicy as hell, as well as a 5-10 game that was good, but not great for the 3 hours I was in it. And the table side food and beverage service was a pleasure as usual.

+ 1 mirrion,

Other then game selection, it's mohegan hands down. Unfortunately game selection is pretty much everything, unless you are only playing 1/2 NL with 100 dollars in front of you for 3 hours.

so that being said, i'm sad mohegan is not taking off like i hoped. I haven't been back there in months

not good.

last summer a few of us had a 1-2 plo/8 game going pretty regularly with a $2 max rake ......but it faded out rather quickly. it was great fun while it lasted.
