Did a quick check but apologies if this already exists, also might be a little premature either way but- given the movement towards online sports betting getting the nod, and the prospect of downstate casinos looming on the horizon would it make sense to create this thread for news on these potential future games?

What prompted me to make thread is the Ignition move out of NY- does this mean licensed regulated sites are on the way sooner rather than later?

Not sure if I understand your question fully, but I believe the current moratorium on downstate casinos will expire in 2023, IIRC. The current budget process in April did not rescind this moratorium, there was a chance it would have. It did add online sports betting as you mentioned. It is suggested that the two current racinos would bid for a license and expand their properties, as well as another player such as LV Sands which would build a new resort.

We were talking about this in the Borgata thread, and it was suggested a new thread should be started.

I forgot it was discussed in the Borgata thread I did see that.

Outside of the downstate casinos do you think the online sports betting means we're also getting online poker and do you think that has anything to do with Ignition pulling out of NYS?

The moratorium keeps them from opening a casino or building one ? Could
They start building one now and just have it open in 2023 ?

Are tournaments running in any casinos near NYC currently?

Supposedly Johnny Grooms was transferred to Yonkers. Hopefully a good sign?

To be honest though depending on traffic Parx isn’t that much further away. Now would be a perfect time to plan an Manhattan casino/hotel with a bunch of defunct properties / empty storefront retail.

I have a few friends with barely decent-ish info on the potential casinos being opened, from what I've heard the idea of a Manhattan casino is always on the table but it hasn't been the most popular. There are 5-10 locations in the boroughs, LI, and Yonkers being considered right now by at least one company

from manhattan you're right (although during low traffic hours empire city/aquaduct is still a lot closer) but for players in the bronx, brooklyn and queens it would make a huge difference.

I live on the Upper East Side and can take the 4 train almost all the way to Empire City. It'd be huge for me

Bus to AC has to be the better option here right?

Can be rough but stick to NJ Transit over greyhound and it's not half bad

nope not even close. 4 train goes almost all the way to empire city, no traffic worries and it takes maybe 1/3rd of the time. not to mention the busses don't run nearly as often.

I've relied on the bus pretty heavily in the past and it's nowhere near as bad as most imagine, but no way it's better than anywhere I can take the subway too

I used to get the bus to AC all the time when I lived in NYC, it's really not a problem to do it (though it's annoying if you want to play at the Borgata as they go (at least mostly) from the boardwalk), but there's no way that going somewhere on the subway is more annoying.

The bus has always been fine for me but I've had some rough Port Authority experiences

I don’t know anything about Ignition or online sports betting. I don’t have a car and live in Manhattan. I normally take NJ Transit bus to AC. Greyhound is terrible. I did go to Parx and the NJ Transit train to Trenton and then an Uber. Both options are expensive. The best option was taking bus to Wind Creek and getting most of the fare back in play bonus. It was the fastest and most convenient.

Greyhound better then nj transit imo. The seats are more comfortable and straight ride no other stops

If Greyhound buses are reserved, I would try them again, but they used to fill up/or not show up going home. NJ Transit when I take it at midnight going back to Manhattan is almost empty. I never had a problem with NJ Transit, though you don't get a casino bonus (the bonus I think with Greyhound you have to wait half an hour to use it at certain casinos).

They changed it now, for greyhound you have a guaranteed seat at the allotted time you purchased the ticket for. It’s a lot less common for buses not to appear like before. Have had it happen maybe once or twice the past 2-3 years

I remember not having a Greyhound ticket and asking the agent for help, and she was acting like she was doing me a favor by answering my questions. Just rubbed me the wrong way. NJ Transit there are no assigned times, which is good or bad (good coming back you can take a later bus than you planned, bad, you may have to get there early to get a seat leaving from Port Authority). The NJ Transit break in Toms River is not good, as you said...

I think I read about one proposed site in Times Square, but I have read about enough opposition to a Manhattan site that it would not get approved. It would be nice to walk out of work and be able to play at night or take a fifteen minute subway ride...

ACNJ GRINDER Lol I thought you were trolling me because you knew me. I love the NJ transit bus, well, loved.

The 4 to a bus trip is 56 mins from my apartment. It's also a 22 min Uber. Tough choice between a 150 min bus ride, and 40 mins each way to Port Authority.

But yeah, NJ transit over Greyhound all day. They issue is, though, Greyhound cut off service for a long time and just resumed it so NJT has been busy AF. Now it's the summer and even without the overflow it will be super busy.

Found a new bus that leaves from midtown and gives free play. Check out OurBus.com
