Buy in at the table is fine. You want as little a barrier as possible for rec players to get in the game.

No. Carry 4 blacks or 3 blacks and 4 greens. You don't have to change all of them to 4 stacks of reds either. It's definitely easier and faster.

There's always a couple of guys with piles of reds when I sit at a table, so it's a win win.

Interesting reading LVA this morning, stated pretty clearly that the MGM NH poker room was moving upstairs.

Didn't JG adamantly state - a while ago - that this wasn't happening?

I've heard dealers saying that again recently but it always sounds like rumor, not fact. I trust Johnny to make decisions that he thinks are best for the room. Moving upstairs doesn't seem like one of those decisions if you ask me.

The temperaturein the room was much more comfortable yesterday. It's actually been pretty cold along the back wall.

Not Pulitzer prize winning writing here...
====

https://www.lasvegasadvisor.com/stif...n-hails-macao/

"MGM National Harbor is still on a shakedown cruise, as it were. The company avers that it could use more than the 300 hotel rooms it has. Food and beverage, and retail are the weak spots on the balance. So too, apparently, is poker. In any event, the poker room is literally being kicked upstairs to make room for more slots and table games. There’s nothing calamitous about these revelations: MGM is new to the market and, besides, any other operator would probably being experiencing the same phenomena."

So basically MGM is saying they wish they had more hotel rooms, more food & beverage, more retail and more casino space. Must be a good problem to have.

You have to figure that eventually the demand at MGM tapers off a bit but really it's far and away both closest to DC and nicest property in the area so it could really be booming for quite a while.

That article makes it sound like the decision would be coming from casino management, and not necessarily from Johnny. We all know poker is the black sheep in the casino family so I wouldn't be entirely surprised to see this move happen if they want to add more table games.

Hey tournament guys -- quick question. How long does the daily 11AM $120 buyin tournament normally last? Might head over there instead of MD Live to play some, just curious how long to expect.

I play 1/3. I typically buy $400 red. You want me to carry around 80 chips? I could carry black or green sure but the tables are always short on red as it is. I'd say I make change for someone at least twice in an average session.

It's not impossible or even difficult to staff the cage at a level where there will never be much of a line.

So the dealer has to pause and sell the new guy $100 in green - making the shortage of red on the table worse - and notify everyone that the guy is $300 behind or whatever. Which opens all the problems that come with a player playing behind.
I played at lot at the Bellagio back in the day and the floor would not seat you if you didn't have your chips. If they knew you and they knew they were getting tipped they would seat you and get your chips for you. But they never really had chip runners that did anything but fill the dealers racks so they could make change for rake.

As of at least last summer the floors were running chips for everyone who needed it when sitting

He's said exactly nothing about it and his silence is deafening. I suppose/hope that means he knows it's going to happen and he's still trying to fight it. The room being moved upstairs would be awful.

I haven't played any of them but I'm usually there on Wed afternoon/evening. They've normally reached the FT by about 4 pm or so and are finished before 7 pm if my memory serves me correctly.

We have not made a decision to move the poker room upstairs at this point. We ARE exploring every opportunity to make more room for the property. rest assured, if we do move the room, it will be a positive thing, not a negative one...
