Visited Saturday. Three different dealers made the same mistake and tried to pass the whole pot to a single player in a split pot situation. I guess it's good they're moving fast, but dealers need to be able to read the board.

Re: MGM National Harbor Resort & Casino (Oxon Hill, MD); FAQ in OP

Are there any efforts to improve the quality of the dealing staff in the poker room? There are a lot of great dealers in the room but it's still incredibly hit or miss. It's improving slowly but it's still relatively common to see dealers push pots the wrong way, muck players hands without warning, let new players come in on the button, deal turn/rivers prematurely, etc. Just yesterday I had a dealer who literally could not pitch the cards. He must have been the slowest dealer I've ever seen and he flipped over no less than 5 cards during his stay at my table, having to redeal on 2 occasions. Everyone at the table was shocked when the next dealer told us the guy has over a year of dealing experience. I really like the room and I understand that a lot of these issues can be ironed out over time. However, it's frustrating to see blatant mistakes every other dealer when you see many capable former poker dealers working the table games on your way to the room.

I mostly agree with this. It IS very hit or miss. But I’d like to give a shoutout to some of the staff that’s consistently impressed me…

There are continuous efforts to improve our entire staff. We have a mix of experience levels, some are completely new to dealing. Many have tons of experience. One of our biggest challenges is recruiting people to the area due to the high cost of living. I am happy with where we are compared to opening, but want to see our newer dealers improve over time.... Check back in a month or so and let me know if we have improved any.

I heard a rumor that MGM was contractually obligated to hire locals. Either that or they just can't find enough dealers they had to have some new dealers. New dealers were sent to dealing school but it takes a while for some of them to get experience or figure out dealing poker isn't for them.

I've noticed it as well in the back and IMO it has nothing to do with JG or the HVAC system. The layout/design of the room as it relates to being near the emergency doors - and the drafts - mean we're going to have the same issues at those tables as we had in the winter with the cold air. If they change the temps to make it comfortable there, it will be uncomfortable somewhere else in the room. Just MO.

I am reasonably certain this is correct. Also true for the restaurants and whatnot, so some growing pains should be expected.

Also yay more hot seat promo.

Nice promos JG. I liked the Hot Seat more than Faces Full.

Please look into making the high hand levels half hour instead of an hour.

Nice additions to the tournaments as well.

Re: MGM National Harbor Resort & Casino (Oxon Hill, MD); FAQ in OP

I haven't had many dealers worth a complaint but the situation with the runners continues to be problematic. Took me 15 minutes to flag down a food runner and an hour to get my food after ordering. That's probably better than average but could still use improvement.

Worse was getting a fill for the dealer's bank. They keep 1500 in the bank and when we finally got a chip runner the fill was for 1430. And the dealer was unable to give a new player chips so I handed him $200 and took his cash. So the dealer bank was actually at -$130.

Sorry if it's been covered, what games are usually in the 20 mix and is it running on a regular schedule?

The have ran just about every mix imaginable. Last week it was every game legal in the state of Maryland.

It usually runs on Sundays, and has gone off 3-4 weeks in a row. The regs are negotiable on which games are in the mix.

has been all the limit games allowed, no big bet.....has been short handed last couple weeks and only 1 person in the game actually knows how to play them the rest of us are trying to learn

think the one that is more popular and has ran a few times is PLO, Stud8, Big0, and 2-7 TD

15 minutes!? You're running good, sir. It routinely takes an hour or more just to get a food request acknowledged. And this is not meant as a knock on them. It's not necessarily the runners' or Johnny's fault. Clearly the entire system needs an overhaul, and I'm guessing it's the higher ups who'd need to make it happen. And lol at them not being able to accept cash/chips for food. Forcing people to pay with a credit/debit card is some tremendous customer service.
