There are some days that 4/8 plays just as big as 1/3 depending on the players of course. There are some days at 4/8 where there are 6 players betting the river and the pots get well over $100. And there are also the days when half the table is 80 years old and falling asleep, and fold as soon as you make it $8 to go pre flop.

What's this about a $2,700 event coming?
What, when, etc...

(Please don't flame if I missed it in a previous post- I've been through the last few weeks and didn't see anything).

Thanks!

Make the 4/8 a 5/10?

Not to derail the LHE train lol - and I'm admittedly PLO biased - but its really frustrating on a Friday night that with long and growing lists for 1/2 PLO we can only get one table allotted. Meanwhile there is no 4/8 list and 3 tables going.

JG, we used to at least get 2 if not 3 tables allotted for PLO. Not sure if a concerted effort was made to give more tables to the LHE games during the giveaways or not.

Just frustrating. Hoping that with more tables in any potential new room this is no longer an issue.

It wasn't really a conscious decision so much as realizing that those lists contain all the players that are playing in the 1/2 5 card, 1/2 PLO, 1/2 Big O. There are probably only 2 or 3 players that Are not in a game.

I guess my follow up question would be that if there are only 2 or 3 players on a 25 person 1/2 PLO list are not in games, why does it take so long to call/roll names for the 1/2 list when there are empty seats? In that case shouldnt it actually take less time if you know the players are already in games - and not take 15-20 minutes to even start calling the list? Oh ok we know these first two guys are in 5 card and they dont want the seat, take those guys off, these guys are in the 5/5 game take them off...

And dont get me wrong, I've come to realize PLO is the red headed step child in the room. But it sucks to get there early afternoon on a Friday and realize theres no chance of playing in a reasonable amount of time based on the list length and the one table going.

That's a hell of a question. I am in the room all night tonight, so I will observe and ask the guys why this continues to be a problem.

Sorry, I dont mean to be blunt. Just that anyone thats played 1/2 PLO knows this is an issue and it seems like it would be even less of one if that large a % of guys are truly already in games.

Maybe a slight misunderstanding. Right now we have the following games:

(1) 5/5 PLO
(1) 1/2 PLO
(2) 1/2 5 card games.

That's 36 players seated in those games.

We also have lists of the following:
1/2 PLO 18 players
1/2 5 Card Omaha 14 players
1/2 Big O 17 players

most of these players are the same 15/20 players that come in and get on the list of all Non-Hold'em games. Of the 19 on the 1/2 PLO list about 6 may be live bodies. The rest are all in games they prefer over 1/2 PLO. If we had 5 open table right now, we could possibly pick up one more game, which would likely only operate for a limited time.

the most you can lose in a single hand of 4/8 is $96. the minimum buyin at 1/3 is $100. Also min buyin at 4/8 is $40 in a casino that puts $25 min on a single roll of roulette on the floor. 4/8 plays comically lower than anything else mgm offers.

Then why are they on the list? I don't have a better way to do things, but leaving people on a list that have no intention of playing seems less than perfect.

ok its unlimited. What a high stakes game.

Also side note, does MGM plan to scream car advertisements at me now? im literally sitting at a table earning money for a casino, why should i be subjected to an advertisement, especially one as obnoxiously loud and annoying as the one yesterday? (which was run twice back to back at the blistering volume selected)

I was with a friend from out of town, and he said "wow does this casino do this? Im not dealing with that" and he wanted to leave. I told him i hadnt ever heard an ad here before, but if the casino played another one id take him to another casino.

Yeah this was AWFUL yesterday. As if the floor announcements weren't loud enough, these ads kicked the volume up to 11. Everyone at my table (36) commented about them.

I also think it's maddening Bravo has not added the feature where you can see actual lists with names on your phone (not mere #'s). It's almost like casinos prefer people mill about around the poker room vs spending money elsewhere because they know exactly when they will need to return to the room.
This 100%. I honestly don't understand why it is such a hassle to get a meal ordered.

Question:

Are the food runners controlled by the casino or the poker room? If the poker room, please hire more staff. The wait times (especially on the weekends) is a bit unreasonable especially after playing in LA.

I'm talking to a dealer at my table and he mentioned he likes the idea of $250 every 30 min as opposed to $500 every hour table seat. I love the idea, it would keep butts in the seats.

I know Charles Town does stupid announcements like that all the time but the poker room is secluded so its not as noticeable. I think a side effect of the poker room being just off the casino floor is you get subjected to the stupid casino "promotions".

The one every hour already distracts the whole floor and holds the play for a bit. Every half hour would be a bit chaotic I feel.

hot table every 20 min:
1st 20 min: just the 4/8 limit tables and $100/person at table
2nd 20min: just the 1/3 nl and $200/person
3rd 20min: just the 2/5 nl and $200/person

that way it doesn't distract everyone at once.

also, same $5000/hr is given but each game type gets a piece every hr

As there are only 2 tables of 4-8 and 2-5, you'll lock up their vote!

$50/person at table for 4/8
$300/person 1/3
$150/person 2/5
