so ive noticed a bunch of stuff being set up near the entrance and exits for the parking, i assume paid parking is imminent. Hopefully giving poker regs pearl cards is imminent as well.

I hope so as well. Significant parking fees will 100% make me play at that other place.

I think that paid parking is going to be a huge mistake for MGM. I think they are vastly overestimating how valuable their product is relative to Maryland Live. I don't mind since I'm a pearl member, but for people that are on the Maryland Live/MGM bubble, this will be another reason to go to Maryland Live. MGM just keeps giving off the vibe of gouging customers with 6:5 blackjack and $10 beers and now paid parking. I think that paid parking could be the last straw for a lot of people.

I am hoping it severely improves the parking situation. For locals that live really close by, Uber/Lyft suddenly become a better option.

This is all about the MGM Profit Growth Plan, they couldn't care less about a random poker player or three who wont pay $10 to park. This means tens of millions to their bottom line at the end of the day.

And exactly no players from Virginia or Southern MD (south of MGM) are going to drive the 65 miles or so roundtrip past MGMNH to ML just to save $10. At that rate you're paying more in gas/depreciation to say nothing of the extra traffic.

There are 3/2 tables. There are plenty of other things they do that really turn people off like their craps betting structure. I know a lot of big time gamblers that refuse to play at MGM for their stingy comp policy so they drive an extra hour to live.

I could see them charging for parking in order to alleviate the scarcity of spots during rush hour, but a big part of the problem is that they essentially hid one parking level from view. Like, you go on a Saturday and people spend minutes trying to find a spot on levels 3, 4 and 5 and meanwhile 6 is a 4/5s empty.

Methinks many of you have bad information regarding the parking...

I find it odd that "big time gamblers" would choose to play at an independent, one off casino with (currently) no hotel just because of their better comp policy. What can Live offer them - better comps at Luk Fu?

Heh you can drink coffee and not be an OMC. The OMC is the guy who sits at the 4/8 LHE table with his coffee and his newspaper and gives the stink eye to the young (50 something) whippersnapper who dares raise pre flop. He's been known to raise both Ks and As pre-flop and will call with AK (though it never wins and he doesn't see the point).

There's a decent part of the local (and probably every local) population of regular poker players. A lot of them like to chase promos. A lot of them like to spend a great deal of their time complaining about being card dead and any other thing they can find to complain about. Too many of them at a table kill the action and the joy of playing. A lot are the type to avoid a place just because they charge for parking and the other doesn't. If that happens here I wouldn't miss em.

You forgot about the OMCs who complain about room promos if they dont affect them.

That little birdie was misinformed. The event will not be affiliated with any tour.

Does anyone have any special requests for any type of tournament? We will likely have a mixed game, PLO, 5Card Omaha, Bounty NL, Limit Omaha 8, on the schedule...

I should have known. Little birdies are notoriously misinformed. Looking forward to the series though.

I'm early August I'm staying in Alexandria for a half poker/half Washington tourist trip for two weeks. I'll be playing 2/5 and 5/10, is renting a car for the trip worth it or should I stick to taxi/uber/public transit?
