Just keep a poker players schedule and traffic is a non issue

And no worries, Caps always win, especially in the playoffs.

Yeah, They won 3-2 the game I saw.... Ovi absolutely sniped one in..... Watched the Hawks game on Sunday too.... not so good.
I am officially now a CAPS fan though. Its my hometown team, and that didn't exist on the Gulf Coast of Mississippi....

Probably not a good idea.... But I like the thought!!!!

Also, I hear that drinking a lot of good IPAs makes you care about traffic less.

You must be new to the area too.

^^This or he's being facetious.

As a life long Caps fan I'm tempering my post season expectations.

Can't wait until the Casino opens. I have quite a bit of projects in Old Town and it would be nice to donk off some chips after work.

100% sarcasm. Everyone knows the Caps are awesome at making the playoffs, and then giving a 7 or 8 seed a gift of a playoff series win.
03-04-2016 , 11:43 AM
Except for this year!!!!

Nope, another second round exit for the caps and I just gouge my eyes out. Again.

Yeah, just having a little fun there. I used to go to about 15 Red Wings games a year in the 90's (aka b4 kids). I was so into hockey then, that when I was in DC for biz once, I went to a random Caps game. I think they played in a barn. Nut worst atmosphere back then.

Obviously, Caps are the nuts this year. If it weren't for lol-hockey and lol-NHLplayoffsystem you could be planning the cup celebrations. gl gl

Verizon center seemed pretty nice. In my limited experience, of course.....

Re: Caps atmosphere

night and day difference before/after they got Ovi.

DC is a bandwagon town.

Shoots, I wouldn't even call it a bandwagon town. This area just isn't a "sports town" period.
This area is full of transients and transplants. I'm a lifelong resident of MoCo and half of my neighbors are from out of state.

Even when the Caps or Bullets make the post season the games don't sell out, not to mention the invasion of opposing fans at games SMDH.
I was at the Redskins/Packers game in January and there were plenty of empty seats and a sizable contingent of cheeseheads.

Being a transplant here, I can understand. Being from the south, with no hockey team within 6 hours drive, I had no string allegiances. So I guess I can root for the hometown team.... Let's-Go-CAPS.

(Full disclaimer: Lifelong Atl Braves, Miami Dolphins, and University of Tennessee fan, recently a fan of Soccer... Arsenal, Barca, and USMNT)

If you are starting to enjoy soccer you should catch a DC United game. Sit/Stand with the Screaming Eagles or Barra Brava for a more exciting experience. (At RFK for a couple more years until they get a new stadium)

Johnny, welcome to the DMV! Is there a possibility your room will have pink chips? I don't know if you are familiar with the pink chip game that used to run back at the Trop in AC back in the day, but similar games used to run around here with pink $2.50 chips before the casinos were around (frequently HOE, HORSE, or some variant). This game (7.50/15) was running strong at the Horseshoe until management decided they're not interested in spreading it anymore. First they changed it from time rake to pot take and now they won't even call down the list, even with 12-15 people ready to play. Live does not have pink chips and many of the regular players are employees at Live anyways. Is there a possibility we could get this game spread at MGM when you open?

We will have pink chips, but would likely prefer to spread a 6/12 half kill or an 8/16 game. We will be open to spread anything though....

I plan on it. I will probably watch more soccer here than anything else(except baseball when the Braves are in town)

well, there's no pinks chips in the rack at horseshoe poker tables.
so they had to get them somewhere else.

at md live, you also don't have pink chips at the poker table rack, so you also have to get them from someplace else too.

Mr grooms, could you please tell us how many tables you'll have at mgm poker room? Will there be a separate area for tournaments?
03-07-2016 , 12:39 AM
Adding to that. What can we expect from a tournament perspective. I know theres still a long time to go before cards are in the air but could u give any insight into the type of tourneys u hope to run, how soon after the room opens do u hope to start tourneys, and is there gonna be room to run some larger events or series. I never made it to beau rivage but there always seemed to be a good event or series on their calendar for people in the mid stakes buy in range.

I would like to see SnG's with low rake.
ie: $109 for a $100 10player SNG? (top3 paid: 50%, 30%, 20%)
