The directors from both rooms will likely be at the grand opening. I will be incorporating many of their operating procedures for our games (especially those that pertain to high limit games)

Plz don't put the HS lists on a clipboard like Bellagio

I'm guessing that MD law applies same as at Maryland Live so no free drinks in the poker room. And its spitting into the wind to ask a multinational corporation that drink prices be reasonable.

But IMO $9 Coronas and $6 Coors Lights at Maryland Live - not entirely within the realm of reasonable.

As always, just IMO...

A little premature for me to guess at drink pricing...

I tweeted a link to an article recently published (Feb 9) that states we are on schedule for a Q4 opening...

Understatement... I plan sessions around rush hour... Chopped two tournaments to avoid rush hour

It's actually very good for you. Harbor is doable after work for Virginians but MDL is a 90+ minute death march no matter which way you go after 3pm
02-12-2016 , 12:31 PM
the harbor is the only spot I think I will be able to sneak away to during the week to play. mdl/bmore is just to crazy with traffic after work

I got my first real experience with it last night. Left Live at about 7:15 and took the 295 to the Harbor. Literally was 35 minute driver there at 2:30pm. Drive home took 1:20. And people here drive Kamikaze style...

Hey Johnny Welcome aboard!

If someone wants to become a dealer in your poker room is MGM gonna offer a poker school or will you only be hiring experienced dealers? Also, has the MGM decided what the dealer uniforms will be like?? Like the horseshoe ones wear they have to wear a vest and tie or more casual ones?

A good mix of both. We will have a dealer training school, but will also be hiring a staff of experienced dealers. No decisions on uniforms yet.

Any idea what the rake + jackpot drop structure will be like? Any indication as to number of poker tables?

I'm pretty sure that within the last couple pages of this thread, the only thing confirmed is that nothing is confirmed.

Not true. We've confirmed that Johnny Grooms is affiliated with the room, Greg Raymer is not presently affiliated with the room, and the casino site is on a hill that is on a flood plain that should flood once every ten thousand years or so.

Touche'! Well played, sir.

I was trying (and apparently failing) to be a little humorous in my response to the particular questions posed.

Despite whatever the answers will eventually be, I'm really looking forward to checking out the room once it opens.

All good! As soon as I can make more info public I will do so. Just getting my feet wet and saying hi for now.

Really looking forward to this even though I live in Brooklyn. I have a vacation ownership at the Wyndham 2 blocks away and can stay basically for free. In many ways, it will be easier for me to get to than AC/Parx, which are significantly closer (I don't drive).

Will be checking in for updates and more info on opening dates regularly. Hope you make the room a big one, JohnnyGroomsTD. Seems like the region can support large card room based on MD Live. I'm an admitted noob on DC/MD, but I know I've seen a ton of people in AC from the area over the years.

I think we will do well. Have been getting immersed in the local stuff. Going to my first Caps game next Monday. Cant wait...

Caps game was a blast. I am settling in nicely to this area, and have enjoyed myself so far. I played in an awesome charity poker event last Saturday at the Sphinx club on K Street. It was to raise money for childhood cancer organization call Alex's Lemonade Stand. I got 11th place out of over 400 players, and drank a lot of good IPA. The traffic sucks, but you eventually accept it as a fact of life and move on....
