Rumor has it that all the dealers are new as they treated the poker dealers like **** during the pandemic and they all quit.

Played a few sessions there recently and enjoy the room, despite it’s limitations. This was my first time back in a casino since pre-Covid, so I was looking forward to playing live again.

A few of the new dealers seem to be catching on a bit, with one imo being far superior to the rest. There is still a “problem” with new dealers still learning and games moving quite slow, but it’s not their fault. If they can’t learn there won’t be a game; it’s a suboptimal situation for everyone and eventually things should improve. Overall I found them (and all the poker room staff) pleasant and personable. The mechanics just understandably lacking.

The games I’ve been in have been pretty good, particularly for 1/3. The 500 max bi and ability to reload to 75% of top stack makes the game more of a 2/5 catchweight.

Game that went on tonight was prob the wildest 1/3 game I’ve been in. Played much closer to 5/10 with 5 or 6 2k+ stacks on table at one point. Brought 2k with me and actually felt underolled for 1/3 (and I did indeed have to hit the cash machine at one point).

Finished down about $1k (or $1500 up from being -$2600, which is how I prefer to look at it). By FAR the most I ever lost playing 1/3 (at least sober, but I oddly still enjoyed myself. Since the game was essentially 5/10 most of the night, putting it in that light takes any sting out of the loss.

I assume this was a unicorn game, but if it’s at all indicative of the action I’ll be playing more often.

The main con for me is the rake. 5+2 in a standard 1/3 game I assume would be close to unbeatable. With the increased BI I guess it could be sustainable. I’m not a BBJ fan, and prefer time-raked games, but those don’t seem to go much from what I hear.

Prob for the best in my case, anyway. I can sit back relax and just have fun. At 5/10+ it feels more like a job. And I get this irrational feeling when a “big” game runs I MUST play in it, even when it’s not the best option. My time away from the casino reminded me that I really do enjoy this stupid 2-card game, regardless o the stakes.

Thanks for attending my TED talk/review/trip report/weird segue into nostalgia in a thread that hasn’t been active for a year.
