Seems to me that that specific dealer wouldn't be getting tipped for a while. Sorry dealers job to know the game and details, such as rake.

Pretty surprised it took 30 minutes for any player to notice this.

What were your suggestions?

They had the same rake problems when they did the PLO promotion. Not something you usually need to pay attention to but occasionally while out of the hand I would notice they were taking full rake. Point it out and they apologize. Then the next dealer would do the same. I sympathize with the dealers - all the stuff they have to keep track of and this piled on top - for only 2 or 3 tables. Wonder if they could alter the comp rate for these games temporarily. Need to do something differently.

I recently learned that I need to get to 50 posts to stop being a "newbie" so brace yourselves.

At your rate, we will need to brace ourselves in about a year.

Similar things have happened to me at a bunch of places. You've generally got until the start of the next hand to object. I'm not saying that's fair but I would be stunned if any card room did something different.

Ehhh...except here, the dealer conceded that he took the wrong rake for the entire down. It didn't cost me anything, since I was too nitty to play a pot until the very last hand of the down...just hoping they would do the right thing like....

Give us a free half hour (although it would take 45 mins to resolve)

Or

Go to the camera, count the # of hands dealt, and split the money among the players

Or

Give us 1:1 on Cheesecake Factory comps....

Lots of things they could have done to show that they give a damn.

Get over it. They're not going to give back the rake or redistribute the 15 extra dollars they took. It's already a promo, which shows you they give a damn.

They have no real Omaha / LO8 / mix games competition (pink chip game with a significant number of MDL dealers is the exception) yet they still did something nice to save us players money. A dealer makes a mistake and you act like you're owed something.

No question there are a lot of things they could have done (well, plus or minus the lottery). I'm just saying that I've never played in a room that would do something, so I'm not surprised that Live has the same problem.

Are the Maryland LIVE poker tournament results posted anywhere? I checked both twitter sites (poker room and casino) but don't see any results.

Thanks, but I wish they would post the results of each tournament online to give me a better idea which future tournaments I would like to play in.

I was there for this little incident, and it was discouraging, especially since a lot of energy already gets expended making sure the dealer is doing their job correctly. I know my NL holdem dealer today made it clear she wanted HORSE abolished because of how much she hates dealing it.

It is tough to correct the dealer on the bring in, see all the upcards before they are folded and simultaneously watch the rake each pot.

It would have been incredibly easy to give us one rake free rotation (8 hands), especially since we know it was roughly 10 raked hands, or 30 extra in rake that was taken. It would still only fix half of the mistake, but at least the gesture would be appreciated. "Sorry we don't care" was pretty disappointing.

After the rousing success of the Thursday night 6-12 HO game last week, I'm willing to give it a go again tonight! Hoping to get going somewhere between 8 and 9pm. If they put it right between the 4-8 Holdem and Omaha-8 games again, I think it'll get an audience.

Maybe half kill on the O8 to 10-20 this time, like we got going late last week?

Sounds fun, but I can't play - I have to be home by my 10:00pm curfew this week.

Do they let you start an HO sign-up list, or is it just the regular HORSE list and then you negotiate with the table starters to just play H and O? I was there on both Saturday and Sunday, and the only mixed list was HORSE list and they were playing the 5 games of HORSE, which I wasn't interested in playing.

In my experience you have to talk to a floor who can then make the special list for you; the front desk was unable to do it when I asked about a week ago.

I'll concede we could have done a better job there. We'll improve for next time.

Thanks

Yep, front desk routed me to the floor near the stairs, who took care of it. (He was very accommodating.) Floor made sure the game started as we requested, but the list still said "mixed" which required explanation for all who inquired.

Daveopie, curfew no problem: just stay until 5am!
