Kinda spotty, maybe once or twice during the week. If I remember correctly it's been running mainly on Wednesday and/or Thursday, and all weekend. It's normally 2/5/10, the 10 a button straddle. Depending on who's in the game they will sometimes up the stakes to 5/10/25. We've run 25/50PLO on a couple of occasions.

Any update on a Poker Room rate for the hotel?

First time visitor this past weekend, but I agree with Reservoir Dog's post. My table averaged 12 hands a down for the 14 hours I played,so the time rake really took its toll. Dunno what to say other than it sucks to be paying 14 bucks to maybe see 24 hands. And yes, get used to misdeals every two downs. No reason for the casino to change it though, because they are loving the amount of players.

Most guys I play with don't like mix games, but I may be able to talk one or two into playing.

Centja spoke with poker room manager last night. We are aiming for wednesday, 8/3 to try this out. 6/12 $1 ante would probably be a place to start as it won't scare off the fishy regs. So could some advertising be done via twitter/card room?

Roger was very accommodating and said he would advertise the game online and in the room once we got enough players willing to start the game.

My guess is that we'll need like 5 players to have enough of a chance to start a list and get to 8 to get the game going. We've got three committed thus far (me, camz and a local player from last night). We've also got 2 interested but not committed (RR and a guy from Beaumont).

Does anyone have an objection to 7 pm? I know camz and I are coming from Lafayette, and I'll be leaving after work, so anything before 6:30 is really tough for me.

Send me a PM with your email address so the people who want to play can be in touch without cluttering up the thread.

in the beginning, the game will almost certainly be filled with guys who are really into poker and want to play a game like triple draw in a casino for the only time in their lives......but i don't think anyone is going to be super proficient in more than 2 games.

while the H rounds may be somewhat tough, the ORSE rounds will most likely be LOL

There will be no E round unless they go their submission in. I am all for a TD round and a NLHE and PLO round (maybe play those 1-2 while playign 6-12 limit?)

i forgot about the omission of E for the time being. we could also put a $200 cap on the big bet games so we won't suddenly be playing 200+ bb deep.

So, thus far, we have Holdem, Omaha8, Razz, Stud, 2-7 TD, NLHE, PLO & Badugi. 6/12 ($1 ante for the stud games) and 1/2 ($200 cap for NLHE/PLO)

any other ideas? Roger said he'd spread whatever we wanted as long as we had players and he was approved for it.

I will have them put my name on the list for it every time I'm there and I think it would be a good idea for everyone else to do the same. That way other people will see it and ask about it and the floor can tell them the dates that we plan on spreading it.

So no chance of ever having a 1/2 nl game? im playing in a south florida card room now that was reluctant at 1st to spread a 1/2 game, but once they did it became the biggest game there. Everyday they avg 8 tables of 1/2 for the 15 hours they are open, as opposed to 4 tables of 2/5, 2 tables of 5/10 and 6 tables of 4/8 limit with an occasional 1/2 plo game. The poker room manager told me that adding the 1/2 game increased the overall take/profit by 40%. One time plzzzz? Id move back to lake charles very quickly if so :]

Roger emailed me to say that he'll be advertising the 6/12 mixed game to run on Wednesday August 3rd at 7 pm. The game will be Hold'Em, Omaha 8, Razz, Stud, 2-7 Triple Draw and Badugi with a $1 ante for the stud games.

We currently have myself, camz2895, harper983 and eihli wanting to play. RR has told me he's interested, but was unable to commit just yet. We won't be able to add the big bet games to the mix, however, so I hope this doesn't keep RR from playing.

Roger is going to add announcements to the room's twitter feed and facebook page, so take some time to retweet and like the announcements and hopefully we'll get the game up and running.

Looks like they gave in a bit to spreading lower NLH.

We have 1/3 no limit $100 buy-in (max $300). We also have 4/8 limit game ,$60 buy-in min. Monday-Thursday.

Looking forward to playing this and the mix games. Wish we could get 1/2 or 1/3 NLH and PLO spread in the mix games. Oh well.

So looks like you guys are all over this. Don't forget to get the daily updates on Twitter @laubergepoker. Just to recap and add a little more info:

-6/12 mix will begin Wednesday, 8/3 at 7pm. We'll try to run it every week, same day and time. Stud/8 is being submitted, so won't be long.
-1/3NL and 4-8 limit will run only Monday-Thursday. 1/3 will be $100-300 buy in, or 100% of big stack.
-In the near future we will also change from time to pot rake for 2/5 and below. However, this change has to be submitted and approved so 1/3 will be a time rake for now. Rake will be $6 per half hour, plus bad beat jackpot drop.

Sorry Eihli, no bourre here...if they ever spread it I would be very shocked.

Still looking to improve and give our players more of what they (you) want. Let me know what you think.

Nothing set in stone yet, but we'll have something probably after the summer. It'll be in the neighborhood of six hours for a $79 rate.

I have a bad feeling about starting a 1/3 and 4/8 game. You usually don't have enough limit players to run two tables on weekdays. And I don't think running 4/8 will bring enough people to start start a second. Please don't kill the 6/12 game.

catching bluffs, imo.

also, agree with eihli: please don't kill the 6/12 game. are you spreading 4/8 during the week because you think you'll be able to spread both games or are the people playing 6/12 requesting 4/8?

Don't like the 10 handed game. Way too crowded around the table. Way too loud. Dealers way too slow. Action is out of control. Lot of rich, bad players. Lot of rich, good players as well. Glad to hear they got a 1-3 NL game during week. All in all, I like the Isle better.

Glad to hear the 1/3 is coming, been playing 6/12 and the game is either short or breaks. Think the 1/3 will have staying power. Never a list for 6/12. is a good game.

The idea is to attract more limit players and spread more than one game during the week. We will spread both if there is interest, definitely don't want to kill the 6/12. If it doesn't bring more limit play, we'll go back to the way it was.

If some players think that a time rake for 2/5 is bad, then a time rake for 1/3 is murder. I do wish you guys will have 1/3 NL on the weekends when the rake changes to pot vs. time, obviously that's when most people come and play.

I think it's already time to add new tables

Just got back from my first visit to the new room. I played 2-5 NLHE. My buddy played 5-10 NLHE.

Observations: lots of Houston players. Lots of Isle of Capri regulars. Some of the dealers were great, some were terribly slow.

Likes: time rake, deep stack nature of the games, the classiest casino property between Houston and New Orleans, Mississippi straddle

Dislikes: no noise and smoke protection from the casino. They need to enclose the room with glass walls and ventilate it. It's loud and smoky as hell. Bring your noise canceling headphones. No running it twice in 2-5 NLHE where the stacks often reach 400BB+ "because it's a jackpot game." Who cares. Jackpot standards are high (quads or better have to lose with both cards playing in both hands). Just make the top board only count for Jackpots if the players agree to run it twice.

There was a 25-50 PLO game going on. Several players I know had sessions where they lost 5 figures. Action, baby!

Overall, I was pleased with my first visit. It's not perfect, but it's the best poker room within 3 hours from Houston.
