Hey, will be flying for the WSOPE in Oct-Nov and an ensuing 2-4 months trip in Europe ; links/suggestions to transportation and hotels near the casino?

Thx guys

If you want to stay directly at the casino or at a partner hotel they can pick you up, charges are on their website IIRC, and they will offer daily shuttle service to and from the casino. From Munich airport (which should be the normal port of entry) take the train to Weiden and arrange pickup from there. www.bahn.de/en . They can also pick you up from MUC but that is expensive.
If you don't stay there or you want to have more freedom where to go renting a car is a good option. This casino is deep in the countryside (former communist - west border area) and there is no public transport from nearby hotels. There are a number of decent hotels on both sides of the border that normally cater to nature seeking type of vacationers. They will prolly be overrun by PP at that time though. You can easily take a hotel in Germany there are no border controls, you can just drive through.
Use kayak for hotel searches, I believe it should also be ok for rental car searches, just make sure your provider allows travel to Czech (should be ok with sixt and avis unless rent a luxury car, no idea about hertz, not allowed with enterprise), bring or rent a GPS.

I'm an American living in Germany and go to Kings as frequently as my wife allows.

Most have gave great advice taking a train into Weiden. But if you would like a bit more freedom, I would recommend renting a car from the airport and driving in. If you bust from a tournament, there isn't much else to do in the immediate surrounding area. There is a market (get cheap knock off goods), some restaurants, brothels, and a cpl of gas stations.

The town of Pilsen is about 45min away and a fun destination. A bit more metro than the countryside of Rozvadov, and it's where Pils beer originated from.

If you bring your GF/wife or for yourself, there is a popular spa town not too far away as well (Karlovary).

There is hiking and fishing for outdoors people.

Here are somethings that haven't yet been posted but are key...

1) If you are staying at one of the detached hotels (500m+) away from casino, do NOT walk to your room at 2am wearing dark clothes. It is very hard for motorists to see you. I almost wiped out a group of 3 (presume drunk) players as they were partially in my lane of travel... and NO street lights. I didn't see them until I was right there.

2) The free buffet is a great deal! Food is above average, but it isn't 5-star. It is definitely great value for the players that want a snack on a break or have a full blown meal. I have played some pretty large field tournaments at Kings and the buffet will get crowded during dinner break... #PROTIP: eat a little something before tournament, eat a little something on normal breaks, and AVOID it during dinner breaks (you're welcome).

3) Online poker is illegal in Czech (as I know it). So if you were hoping to grind online while away from the King's tables, you may want to consider staying just across the boarder in Germany (not necessarily illegal, more of a gray area and definitely within TOS).

4) If you don't like cigarette smoke... well... sorry. Although there is no smoking at the tournament tables, there is at the cash games. There is also smoking in the casino that you have to pass through to get to the poker area... and also people huddle around the main entrance to smoke and tell their badbeat stories in 35 different languages.

5) 420... I don't have alot of info here other than I've seen people passing around bananas in the park area in front of the hotel. I would keep it on the DL as I think it's still highly illegal in those parts and that would be a terrible badbeat story.

Hope that helps some when you travel to Kings. GL at the tables!

No cash games for me, just 3 WSOP events then

This is info from years back, but what is that casino in Germany with cheap rake? Is it in Frankfurt?

Yes, rake in cash games is very high, as standard in Europe. There are def beatable games, I assume even more so during WSOPE, but the rake will eat a lot of it. Also as dachimp mentioned, cash games very smoky. They have a non-smoking CG section but rarely games running there (at least the last times I have been, end of last year). Prolly all full during WSOPE though. They also introduced some lol 10€ entry fee, not sure what the current status of that is. Will prolly be waived during WSOPE though, I assume.

I think you mean Spielbank Wiesbaden. It's near Frankfurt, will still take 1h or so from Frankfurt to get there. AFAIK there is no poker room in Frankfurt, at least no legal one. Yes, this one has very low rake, one of the lowest in Europe (2€ max, but 1.5% mandatory "tip", it's not really a tip, this is for tax reasons). If you're on a Europe trip anyway, this is def one of the better places to play at. Also in a nice area. Note dresscode, lowest game 2/4 and a small entry fee. And no free drinks. And obv this place attracts grinders more than other casinos. But still worth it

Thx FWWM Yeah, Spielbank Wiesbaden is indeed where I meant. I will definitely check it out, but, by all accounts, it seems as if I will be playing cash games online, if not some tournament events

Am booking flights and hotel soon for WSOPE ; once again guys, thx for all the info, it is mightily appreciated

If you're discussing cash games in Germany, there are a few good private games (Darmstadt and Kaiserslautern are a cpl I could recommend) and I also would include Bad Durkheim Spielbank during weekends (think its 5-5 NL).

I think there are more casinos spreading games in those countries so should be easy to find a game (use HendonMob to search for Euro card rooms).

I can ask some of my friends in Austria and Switzerland about homegames. Obviously, they are private so you will still need to be invited.

Hey guys.
I have sent an email to the casino asking about smoking, since i have asthma, and they assured me twice there is no smoking allowed in the entire casino.
So which one is it?

Did you book WSOPE? I'm curious price for Kings-Rozvadov never been. I've only been to Prague before.

is it easy to get to from Prague(Praha)?

shuttle? free or cost & how much, if known?

where to stay in Rozvadov...i want something to sleep, doesn't need to be super expensive but also don't want to stay in a dump.

Since it is in middle of nowhere, poker is about only thing to do it looks like.

Any experience previous, would love to hear.

sorry for all the questions

It's easy to get to from Prague if you rent a car, but if you can, come from the German side (Munich or Nuremberg) that's faster and Czech roads are not the best, they also charge tolls on the motorway.
BTW pro tip for everyone coming from the German side, exit the motorway at Waidhaus, exit 76, last exit before the border. a) This is slightly faster and b) you don't have to pay toll.
The shuttle is not free, costs are on their website. Accommodation, use the usual search engines kayak, trivago, tripadvisor, whatever.

Thanks for advice. Do you know about the smoking part?

Sorry I overread your post. If there is no smoking in the whole casino this must be a recent change. Every time I've been it was full of smoke. The tournament section and some part of the cash game section are (were) non-smoking but they are not segregated, there is still considerable second hand smoke, also the whole non-poker casino section is (was) a smoking area.
Hopefully they went non-smoking but if they did, they must have done so recently and I am not aware of that

thank you for the response.

I'm just not sure what to do...try and rent a car, hassle of international license, pay tolls, fuel and possibly parking...hmm

I figured the shuttle from Prague cost money and I'm okay with paying. I've been meaning to get to Rozvadov from the US and what better reason than WSOP-EUROPE. I'm sure it's going to be packed. Was looking at playing the Collosus & mainly cash games. Will play more tournaments if I feel it.

Might stay 1 nights before & after in Prague as well. Was thinking 4 nights in Rozvadov.

I was using travel site www.Europeandestinations.com

I will see what I can get on those other travel.sites for hotels in Rozvadov.

would you recommend anywhere?

should I try Kings?

is the new hotel at kings done yet?

also, any idea of it is easier to shuttle from say Munich?

thanks, sorry for the gazillion questions

Coming from the US, Munich is surely the faster route. Read my post #27, I've never used the hotel shuttle but I heard it was expensive. If you don't rent a car you can go with the train to Weiden, shuttle from there will be cheaper (maybe still considerable).
Parking is not an issue, plenty of space around the casino and everywhere, it's in the countryside. Parking charges is something the owner has not yet come up with (hopefully he doesn't read that lol). As long as you don't take the motorway in CZ you don't have to pay tolls either. You have to pay heavily taxed German/Czech fuel though.
You can book a hotel room directly via the casino but this is not the cheapest / best value for money option.
Don't expect too much from the WSOP Europe, it's no match to the US one. This casino should be better equipped to host it than the one in Berlin though, which was way too small. The cash games should be good during the series, they have a hefty rake though.
I have limited knowledge of the hotel situation as this casino is within driving distance of my parents house, that's the main reason I'm knowledgeable about it. I've stayed in several small motels in the area, they were all ok, but I don't remember their names.

thank you very much for all the info. I appreciate it.

I'm not expecting for WSOP-EUROPE to be huge but I wanted to see Kings anyways, plus I can say I did both series. I was out in Vegas for 15 days.

I just want somewhere to sleep that isn't a dump. Yes I have seen Rozvadov is
countryside by Google street maps. I'm not opposed to train then shuttle. Just want a smooth trip if possible.

So Berlin, Speilbank Potsdamer Platz was too small?

I wanted to check Berlin out in January for the WPT Berlin Jan 5-15....

Where do you live now?

where in Asia did you go (sorry was being nosy
Macau?)

Wondering if it is better to rent a car...probably is

will have to figure it all out(Pros/Cons & Cost).

Yes, Spielbank Berlin was way too small. If the WPT is anywhere near that kind of crowd expect chaos and huge cash game waiting lists. The rake at SB is even more than in Kings anyway. They want to move to another venue but I don't think they will do that in time for that. Lots of other things to do in Berlin though. January is not optimal though since it can be very cold.

Actually, I had a look, this is the best motel in the area I've stayed at
https://en.tripadvisor.com.hk/Hotel_...e_Bavaria.html
but for this you need a car (15-20 min drive to the casino)

I live in Hongkong now, but this is unrelated to pokers. I've been in Macau several times but I don't want to deter this thread too much. It's only a great option if you play 200/400+ (HKD)
