I am new to the Cleveland area. Are there any people who play at the JACK professionally? How many? Are the games constant enough? Does the rake make this close to impossible?

Thank you!

Would be really surprised to hear anyone making enough consistently at the 1/3, and the 2/5 doesn't run often enough anymore.

There are definitely a handful, perhaps more, that play for a living there, yes. PLO runs all the time, there's private games they play in, etc. 2/5 doesn't need to run all the time and 1/3 is okay as long as it's only some of your hours.

Yes. There are 15-20 successful regs. Play in the room for 2 days and you'll quickly know who they are.

Wow that is a good amount. How much do you think their hourly rate or yearly income is? I know there is obviously some variance. Do those regulars mainly play PLO?

Likely the case. The games aren't big enough and the rake is too high. The games necessary to make a decent living just don't run. This is why many of the better players have either relocated or play mostly online. You'd be better off with an entry level job than grinding $1/$3 here, especially in the long run as poker continues to get harder and shrink.

Unless they're some PLO sicko running super hot there's no way they're making 100k at jack alone

100k would take 64 hours a week at $30 per hour. Maybe in LA but not at Jack Cleveland.

I digress, closer to $75-$80k including comps, etc.
It is doable, I can personally attest. I am averaging $64/hr for 2017 and playing 45-50hrs a week.

Folks, do not identify other posters or use real names here on the forums. Also, please refrain from attacking each other. Sarcasm sometimes doesn't come across in a post, so be mindful of that too. Thanks.

Those numbers are clearly not sustainable given the games that are spread there in the long run, but congrats on the heater if true.

I've played thousands of hours here, including 1/3, 2/5, and a very limited amount of PLO. In terms of a full time playing schedule, over $50/hr is nearly impossible for anyone but the top 1 to 3 PLO players. I'd be really impressed if anyone else was making over $35-40. 1/3 NL is too short stacked, and 2/5 doesn't run often enough and isn't that good when it does.

How can a dollar an hour comp at poker increase your hourly rate by $10.00?

Anyone realize they doubled the price of several items in the gift shop, specifically electronics? Over a year ago I purchased a couple tablets and headphones with comps and they were priced right around their respective values. I went back a week ago to do the same, and the prices are now around double the values of the items.

How is the poker room these days? last time i was there the players seemed to have tightened up and the action was not great, obviously not a ton of hours in that assessment i just know cleveland is not the biggest market and the loose action may have dried up by now. Plus this thread seems pretty dead these days. I also know the room is not run very well causing some to play elsewhere. I was taking to a friend who plays 1/3 and he says the players overall have become more solid, not that they are good but they just dont give the chips away like they used to. Was thinking about putting in some significant hours in the future and wondering if it makes sense to play here.

I'm considering making a trip to Cleveland for the 100k high hand promotion in December. The way I read the promotion PLO is eligible for the giveaway. Are there any restrictions for PLO? I know at some places PLO has to make the hand on the flop.

I would call and talk to a floor manager as they recently eliminated Omaha hi low and big o from promotions, some if not all. Plo qualifies but must use 2, nlhe can use one card.
