Had a great time at HSI, was cool to see a 1-2 and 2-5 plo game get going. The 2-5 played super deep, and even though I have no idea how to play plo you could tell the players in the game, while I was watching, were not the best. I believe out of the 10 or so hands I watched waiting for a seat to open up, while the game was 4 or 5 handed, there was one preflop fold. Amazing how everyone had a playable hand every time.

It was my GF's first time to the casino, and when we went to get her players card she was comped a free night in a hotel room, and was given a free T-shirt. I did not get anything when I signed up and I spoke with some friends of mine who were there and they said they did not get anything the first time either, so some run good for her. Has anyone gotten comps just for signing up before? Obv. she is gold star.

The last time I had played in their card room there were a couple of problems with the dealers, this time however all the dealers were very professional, which was nice to see. Also it was a nice surprise that the whole first level is now non smoking, which I did not know about, you could tell the air had a "fresher" sent on that level compared to others. (although if you smoke obv this could be a bad thing) Any way, good job horseshoe, room service was great and the food was good and we will be going back sometime soon.

Does this casino ever have a game of seven card stud/8? If they do what days and limits?

I think the mixed game on Sundays contains a round of Stud/8 but a game of strictly Stud/8 is rare and is only likely to happen during a tournament event.

They played O/8 Monday for the first time in like forever.

How are the weekday games? Any specific times that get slow/nitty? I kind of remember the games being bad really late at night. I think after work hours 5-10pm is probably prime time? This is for 1/2-2/5nlhe. Gratze.

I was there a couple of weeks ago, it was a Tuesday/Wednesday and the games Tuesday, all day, were great for nlhe. Wednesday there were only 3 or 4 tables of nlhe running and one flhe, and around mid afternoon there was a 2-5 plo. I was not there Wednesday night.

LOL this Doug guy. I can't tell if I like him or not. I seriously saw some chick time down getting 6:1 with the second nuts on the river. It's not even a slow roll if you're too stupid to know.

Yesterday:

A dealer was pitching very high and angled; I caught her as she pushed out and told her as nicely as I could, and she really didn't seem to care; she happened to push in to the next table, and I could see the cards she was dealing from there.

The next dealer didn't believe that A9 and A6 chopped on a 22JT7 board. After a couple minutes, I gave up as it was a tiny pot and I wasn't in the hand.

From now on I get dinner when dealer #1 shows up, and watch extra carefully when dealer #2 is working.

Really, HS, time for some remedial dealer training.

Most of the dealers at the Horseshoe are very good. There are a few exceptions but not many. There is one dealer that I dont like his card pitch and he exposes quite a few cards.

And I was wrong. Last night she was dealing again, and this time had a beautiful pitch. When I finally won a pot, I toked her extra and said "I like the way you deal." Maybe Saturday was an off day for her, I don't know, but I'm always grateful when professionals act professional.

And events 1-3 overlap the last weekend of the ISPC at Hollywood.

Seems like Hollywood and HSI have been overlapping quite a bit the last few years. Unfortunate, as markets in Cincy, L'ville and Indy are all 1.5-2 hours apart, so it dilutes the fields in both HSI and Hollywood.

It says they are going to have Day 1A and 1B, but given that other regional tourneys are taking place at the same time, does anyone think they will have the need for two opening rounds? I would hate to make a trip(albeit a short one) and then find that the field is small/not worth my while.

here is the info... It actually appears to be just once a month leading up to the final table getting entry into a bigger tournament in August.

Anyone know if the dealer that resembles the wrestler Bill Goldberg is still slingin' cards down there?

I was there about a month ago and when you mentioned Goldberg I immediately thought of him. He dealt at my table for a tourny, and then later for 2-5 plo.

Was there sick action this weekend since the NASCAR race was relatively close? I recall playing with Denny Hamlin in 1-2 NL at Belterra when he was there the night before a Kentucky Speedway Busch (?) Car race. It was the year before he hit the big time. When someone who had only came to the area to see the race sort of recognized him and asked if he was famous, Hamlin said "I don't know.". When they asked if he was on TV, he said "sometimes." When asked if he was racing the next day, he said yes. The person figured out who he was, and Hamlin acknowledged. Seemed like a very nice and humble guy at that time. Hope he still is. After he lost 3 $500 buyins, he left with dignity and class, a smile and a good luck to all. Something the live poker community could learn from. I'm far from a NASCAR fan, but if I flip the TV and happen on a NASCAR race, I root for him.
