Was there playing the noon tourny Monday and a dealer said he once dealt to Paul Azinger. But no one had seen anyone from this year.

Also apparently I sat next to the kid who chopped the first event of the Denny Crumm event and won the Main event of that same tourny series.

WSOP circuit starts October 2nd and schedule still not out. Any idea when the schedule will be posted? I need to make arrangements at my workplace

Just recently moved to Tennessee, close to Nashville. Been itching to play but it's slim pickins around here. Drove to Evansville last week to play at the Tropicana which was a crummy boat casino in Indiana but the cash games were soft. It was a 3 hour drive and now I see that it would be 3.5 to get to HSI. Sucks to make that long of a trip but it's fine if the action is good enough. Lookin to play 1/2, maybe 2/5. Anybody know when the best day(s) of the week to go is?

There is always 1/2 going. It plays big also. You can buy in for $300 or half the biggest stack. You can straddle for any amount from anywhere.

I just hit it. I had aces full of kings and the other guy had quad aces. I thought that's what he had so I didn't go all in. He said he put me on royal flash preflop.

What are some inexpensive hotels near the highway in Louisville in order to get across the bridge conveniently? I'm not familiar with the area.

I can't find any hotels other than the Horseshoe or the other side of the river. I can only find "rooms" to rent in someone's house, which I'm unwilling to do since I'm female, don't know the area well, and I travel by myself with a chunk of my bankroll.

Also, what is the expected turnout for the Southern Indiana WSOP Circuit? I'm wondering if the cash games will be worth the 7 hour drive for me. I'll play a couple tournaments but I'm mostly interested in the cash games getting big while the circuit is in residence. Any feedback from years past?

I'd say 1/2, 2/5 and 5/10 nl holdem for sure.. With a small possibility of higher.

1/2 PLO for sure with a strong case for 2/5 and/or 5/10.

30/60 stud for sure.

The 1/2 nl plays big and crazy. 100-300 buyin plus up to 50% of the big stack (50 or 75%?)

And you can straddle any position for any amount.

The rest of the games follow suit, so they're all crazy lol

Closest hotels are about 10-15 miles from the casino. Most of these look to be right about $100 or a little less. Check some nearby cities such as Jeffersonville, In. I see at least a couple there for under $100 and they look to be pretty decent. I am not sure how familiar you are with the area, but Jeffersonville is close to the highway and roughly 15 miles from the casino, just north of the river.

+1 on everything WhiteLion said. The cash games are always good at HSI.

Look for a hotel in Corydon, Indiana. 15 minutes away. Should be the cheapest you will find.

Thank you, all three. I don't know the area AT ALL. I'm comfortable traveling by myself but I don't want to get a hotel room only to find that I've got to drive through several neighborhoods just to get back to the main thoroughfare.

I'm very glad to hear that there will be lots of variations in the levels spread, and I love a crazy 1-2 game. I normally play 1-3 and 2-5 NL.

I hope I can make it. I'm in Atlanta through Tuesday, then home (north Mississippi) for a few days, and then I'd have to get right back on the road to make it to Indiana on Thursday night. I'll definitely check for hotels in Corydon and Jeffersonville. Thanks again!

Tournament numbers are way up this year. Event 1 drew 35% more runners that last year and event 2 drew almost 700. Top place pays $42k, for a $365 entry tournament.

^ That's good to hear. I wonder how much moving Cincy to March affected numbers.

Glad to see that. This figured to happen once they moved Cincinnati to March, instead of last years cluster of Cincinnati, SI, and Hammond right in a row.
