Can anyone tell me what the typical turnout of late has been for the weekly NOON tournament on Saturday? Please and thank you!

What is the 1/2 NL scene like here at HSI? Gold Strike Tunica is closing their poker room, apparently, and I'm looking for someplace about equidistant from Nashville to play on MLK weekend.

It plays big. You can buy in for $300 or half the biggest stack. You can straddle for any amount from anywhere other than the blinds. It is always going. There is usually 1-2 tables during the day, 4-6 during the evening and maybe 10 on weekends.

Could you tell me the rules for the 50% buy in of the biggest stack at the table? Such can you buy for the minimum then later buyin for 50%.

$100 is the minimum. You can always add to your stack up to $300 or half the biggest regardless of what you bought in for. Is that what you were asking?

Yes that is what I was wanting to know so if you are on a must move table and have built it $500 but get moved to a table where the big stack is $1200 you can add a $100 to yours then.

We don't use the must move rule. There isn't a designated main game.

Thanks for the info the Horseshoe Tunica is considering using this buy in option on their 1/3 and 2/5 games you have saved me from having to call Jimmy Allen to see how y'all do it. Also which do you think is best for the game 50,60 or 75%?

I'm not sure which I think is best. None of the regs in our room have really pushed for a bigger buy in. 50% plus straddling for any amount puts plenty of chips on the table.

Terrible. Less than 30 for a scheduled 3 day event. I played a nightly last Friday night with 9 people to start. It's an embarrassment actually. I like this room and play there most weekends, but this has been poorly promoted and it shows.

I live in Louisville, play a decent amount in the room and always look forward to playing in a few events each series and I somehow didn't realize the series had started until today (when I read it ITT).

On another note: I was out of town this weekend and played in a casino's $1/$2 game where buy-in min/max was $60/$300 and max straddle was $4. It reminded me how fortunate we are to play at a casino where the min buy-in is $100 and straddles are unlimited.

Played here for the first time tonite. Great looking room, nice staff. The room itself was a little tough to find without asking for help, so I asked. If you are visiting for the first time, poker is on the 1st floor (deck) of the 4-level casino. I was seated fairly quick; they were spreading three 1-2NL tables, a 3-6LHE, and a 30-60 stud, plus a few tourney tables. I played with a few regulars, a couple of which apparently work at Horseshoe Cincinnati. Action was great, much better than expected.

The one thing I noticed was that the tables were huge, compared to other casinos I've played at.

If you get a chance, it's a nice room.

Glad to have you. There will be a 5/10 NLH going Friday if you are still around.

How does this work in practice? Multiple straddles? Straddles of $10, $20, or $30, such that everyone is effectively playing short-stacked until she doubles up?

1 straddle only for any amount. Utg has first option. If she doesn't post button has next option. Then counter clockwise.

It doesn't play shallow at all. It is normally straddled to 5 or not at all. On weekends you might have a lunatic straddling big, but the stacks are usually deep then.

Can you explain what this means?

The line on the table is enforced. Any chips in your hand when you cross the line are bet.

Thanks.

BTW- I played in a casino that had this rule last weekend and I made a $10 bet at one point, but since I was playing in seat 8 the line was fairly far away from me/ my stack so I threw the two $5 chips forward. When I threw the chips only one chip went over and the other stopped about 1/4 inch short of the line and the bet was called a $5 bet. It was obvious that I wanted to bet $10, but rules are rules.
