Rake is getting out of control. I wonder if that is $8 + $1 BBJP drop? Cheaper to fly to Vegas and play at the Bellagio with a $4/max rake and call drinks.

can anyone else say anything about this? If this is true there is no reason for me to play here anymore. This dealer shortage is unreal. been closing games at midnight with 20+ name on lists the cage a few Fridays ago wasn't open until 3pm. This place is going downhill

Thats all i hear is about a dealer shortage they have been short forever now nothing changes, the only people that get screwed is the ones that want to play poker by making us constantly wait. Is there a reason why all these dealers are quitting or getting fired?

That's absolutely unacceptable if true.

If true (hopefully it's not), it will kill the room. The 1/2 and 2/5 games will be completely unbeatable.

haven't heard anything about any rake increase - seems unfathomable to me, which probably means it's very likely to happen.

It's funny you guys mention dealer shortage. My buddy got to his tryout and was dealing plo, He gets questioned what the pot is says 385. Soto then asks someone else to confirm and he said its 385, so because he answered twice (correctly) soto declined on him because he was too arrogant. Hes probably better then most in the room and it's just rediculous how one of the best rooms in the Midwest is just getting sabotaged.

I was playing in the room the last couple Fridays and saturdays and he was dealing you wanna talk about a deer in the headlights.... no wonder why this poker room has gone way downhill over the years. Upper management might want to consider a change

If you're saying Soto looked like a deer in headlights while in the box, I give a +1 to that...big time

Nice guy, but what the fuhq is he doing to the room?!

He's watching the room fail, he doesn't care he probably figures he has a monopoly on the poker market bc of no competition

That's fair re: competition. As much as people may talk about a few of the other spots, it really is Hammond or bust IMO when it comes to decent card rooms

Anyone ever had trouble bringing a backpack into the casino? Tired of hauling headphones, snacks, smokes, etc. in random pockets.

I would be interested in hearing the answer to this. I do it in Vegas with no issue, but have never tried it at Hammond.

Ok, thanks. Sometimes you gotta have the right snacks/beverages to grind it out.

For real?! There are some regs who bring GIANT backpacks in there as if they are going on a 5 night camping trip. WTF do they even have in there?

Water bottle, snacks, headphones, charger cable, Advil and maybe hand sanitizer are all you really need for a session...easily able to fit in a small drawstring sack.

Survival kit
  • snacks: nuts, protein bars, fruit, etc...
  • water bottle (service can be a bit slow)
  • sweater: it can get chilly especially if your table is under a vent
  • hand sanitizer: trust
  • MP3 player (if you're so inclined)

The $8 rake thing hasn't happened yet. OTOH, the Buffet will be closed for lunch weekdays effective Wednesday. Guess they expect everyone to eat in the new food court.

Has the $8 rake increase been confirmed? I heard about an increase to $6 the other day at the table.

I think the signage said the 14th if memory serves. some of the pit bosses have been raving about the food they tried there (the burger especially it seems.)
