Can anyone comment on the speculation that the poker room manager is leaving here for Vegas I've heard from multiple sources that he's been applying for jobs out in Vegas

I bet a handful of regs would welcome that transfer based on how the room has been slowly declining over the last few years. He's a nice dude and all, but man, that room was better than most Vegas rooms about 5 years ago. Not so much anymore...

Hopefully his boss isn't the problem if he does leave .. otherwise the next guy probably wont stay too long and then you have even more unrest in the room. GL

to me the declines seem like things out of his control. dealer shortage and drink staff shortage. im pretty sure he's not ordering those?

tho i guess i dont know the full line of responsibilities a poker room manager needs to have.

I don't understand why he doesn't accommodate the cash game players more like for instance cancel a couple tournaments a week to open more cash games until the dealer situation is resolved. I understand why he doesn't probably because he's getting a piece of the pie for each tourney entry, but us cash game players are getting screwed because they keep taking our promotional money and giving a piece of that to the tournament players which the majority of them don't play cash, that to me is pretty much bs

How are the tourney players getting any of the cash game promo money?

When they give away extra CPC seats, main event seats, etc, in tournaments, this comes from the cash game promo rake.

Ah yes that makes sense. It looks like they are adding a High Hand promotion starting in April at some point. That will give promo dollars back to cash game players exclusively, so that is nice.

They're working on THIS instead of hiring more dealers? jfc get it together soto.

Noticed the lists (1/2, 2/5, 1/2plo) were back to unplayable this weekend, had hoped things had taken a turn for the better following the cpc, but nah

I sit down 5-5 plo and get in a hand where we got 1k in on the flop run two boards I think I lose so I pull out 1 pumpkin but end up chopping and quickly put it in my pocket. It falls out and the guy next to me picks it up. 20 minutes later he asks if I drop a chip. I do some accounting in my back pack and think I'm all good under the assumption that I had one extra chip in my car which is not the case and I keep asking him what kind of chip but he refuuuuuuuuuses to anything. So a half hour goes by I go to my car to count how many orange I have in there and see that i am one short and walk back down and explain to him that if he did find a pumpkin it is in fact mine. He says nice try buddy I'm not falling for that. So I asked the floor to go to the cameras previous to this if he doesn't oblige he was already super hostile in the first talk when I asked what color. Floor comes over tells me they are unable to review this. I politely lose my mind. Then they ask if it's ok to ask him on the side I say no just go to the camera I would like to take action against him if he took it. He refused to turn it in or declare what the chip was. They go to the camera see him pick it up and at this point ask him to turn it in. Then bring me over and tell me they can't figure out who it came from so the casino will probably ends up keeping it. Literally 2 minutes later they come back over say they found a better angle and it is my chip here's it back. I'm really thinking they did that so they could avoid me taking action against this regular so ****ed up. As this is going on I get involved in q hand where we put in 400 3 ways on the flop j57csh turn K I bet 675 button calls guys all in for 1225 i reshove 600 more not realizing that the action is open we agree to run it twice someone points out that the action isn't open and I acknowledge its not and say ok we can't run it twice the deals rips 2 rivers while this is going on and I scoop. Guy now refuses to pay me and gets free equity on the second board because he said he wouldn't have called the remaining and gets a favored ruling.

This story quickly spread through the room. I can't believe he thought he was going to get away with it. Glad you got your chip back. ****ty move by that guy.

They didn't throw this guy out/perma ban him for this?!? WTF is going on with this room? They throw people out for going around and picking up 10 cent slot machine vouchers. However, if a poker player effectively steals $1,000 from another player, then they don't do anything about it? Seriously messed up.

Mind saying which reg? I was playing 1-2 PLO last night. Kinda weird he would swipe a chip and then not bail.

I dropped a pumpkin near the cage once, spent a minute crawling around looking for it. A reg 20 feet away noticed it rolled under his foot and snap gave it back.

So a guy voluntarily asks you if you dropped a chip and then refuses to complete the story? Sounds completely innocent to me ...

Kudos to you knowing what you had 'on you' at the start of the day.

I had a 'moment' where I thought a player lifted a black chip from me while I was taking a break. When I sat down I was the only one who had them and didn't remember putting one in a pot. Come back and see one in this guys stack on my left. I ask him if he added on while I was away. He says no. I ask did you win that from me? He says no. I ask the table if anyone won a black chip from me in a pot? Silence and nos. I ask the Floor to look at the tape of the last 30 minutes.

Turns out a guy on the other side of me wanted a black chip instead of a bill and switched them out .. and then proceeded to lose the chip in a pot before he left the table ... All while I was gone for less than 15 minutes. AND apparently the guy did it in front of the previous dealer so that's why the new dealer was clueless.

1) Count (and protect) your stack .. I didn't think about counting my bills.
2) Don't mess with a guys stack when he's away from the table .. or just make it obvious what happened so he can see when he comes back.

3) 2 players at the table knew what happened but apparently they would rather see me on chip tilt than have me get back in the game. GL

When did they start allowing to run it twice? Is it only for specific games? Haven't been to the Shoe in years.

seriously dirty moves by that reg - glad you got the chip back

most people in the room seem to be at least moderately honest/trustworthy, but really surprising this was a regular who tried it; even if they weren't naturally honest as a person you'd think pragmatically getting labeled with this would deter him in the place he typically plays.

no question though, that reg should have at least a temporary ban IMO

just curious on the pumpkin theft story: what did the offending reg do once they took the chip back? did he sit there and keep playing or leave soon after? curious to hear if he makes an appearance again in the room

They def let him save face. He played for another hour or so but some of the people at my table were livid and he had to have felt awkward. Everyone I have talked to has said that they have never heard of anyone NOT getting 86'ed for this.

I'm just a really chill laid back person but I think because I win and I play super aggressive I have had some really ****ty things said and done to me at the table and people think it's ok because I don't over react.

big debate coming up with the HH promotion starting last Saturday: how long until all hands are off the board? Obviously the 4 differently suited Royals are the big hold-up, but I heard people say times ranging from weeks to 6 and 12 months. They burned through quite a few on Saturday (including 1 Royal), but I tend to think it'll slow down.

And yea, I mean I could think of better/cooler ways to do promo money or even HH (hourly payout etc), but it's "free" (as in, something we werent getting before and arent paying anything additional for now), so anything sounds good to me in that case.

Maybe this high hand promotion will increase traffic in the poker room.....too bad the new players won't be able to get a seat, because they aren't seating anyone.

Coming up with this HH promotion should be at the bottom of managements priorities. What's the point of running an additional promotion if you can't serve your existing customers? Their list of things to do should look like this:

1. Hire more dealers.
2. Hire more dealers.
3. Hire more dealers.
4. Buy new chairs for the poker room.
99. Come up with a new dopey high hand promotion.

Management should be fired.
