Re: Horseshoe Casino (Cleveland, OH)

Were there any LHE games higher than 3-6?

1-2 is 50 to 200. 2-5 is 200-500. From what I saw most 50% were buying in full at 1-2 and some were buying in for 100... and a few were short stacking it at 50.

I dont understand the obsession about 2/5 or bigger. 2/5 games were amazing at Nautica for years, I played a lot... Now they are HORRIBLE. 2/5 doesnt even run at Garfield and you get 1 table at Nautica. 2/5 fish went busto and the good players are left wondering what they are going to do. Go anywhere in the US and 2/5 is the biggest regular game that runs (5/10 sometimes and rarely 10/20). 2/5 is a big game to play daily and by that I mean the good players are all at that game. $500 buy ins dont seem like a lot but I see people get stuck 3K in a session. You can have 20k swings in 2/5... I know for a fact and know a few who have had that.

The answer today is PLO. In a few years maybe 2-7 or back to limit games.

I will say it again. Limit hold em or Limit poker in general is the best for poker economies. Fish dont bust in 1 hand and have money that last. Games run longer. Games are played more standard. Limit is a harder game to stay a consistant winner and I believe more skill.... In the long run, the better players win and the bad players lose. In NL a fish can go on a run and people may or may not give it back. PLO is even worse.

I thin at 1-2 you get 17 tier points and hour. We played 4 hours and oarked was covered.

How is the rake taken? Is the BBJP "no flop-no drop"?

Re: Horseshoe Casino (Cleveland, OH)

Cap, 2/5 is not a 'big' game to play daily - especially since you can't buy in deep. It is the absolute bare minimum needed to live a middle-class lifestyle if you grind full-time. I don't know how reasonable players are having $20k downswing in those games. I'm not saying it's impossible but if you have a decent win-rate and play around with a variance calculator you'll see how hard it is to lose that much. I also disagree that limit hold-em' requires more skill. There's a reason those games have dried up online over the years and that's because that form of poker is much closer to being 'solved'.

Cleveland really seems to like Omaha these days which kind of sucks for those of use that much prefer NLHE. I think it's crucial we get a 5/10 NL no-max game off a few times per week

30 minutes and 15 points. We got there @ 5:30pm and parking deck was virtually empty. Not sure about today. Weekends & major events i could image it'll fill up.

So stick with limit or 1-2 like you always do and stop claiming you play in the bigger games or stop caring about them because they have no impact on your play. Or buy into 5/5 plo a hundred at a time... You are shoveling way too much doom and gloom for the first week of the new casino.

Re: Horseshoe Casino (Cleveland, OH)

Well, was there for opening night. Had a purple band so was inside in my poker seat within 30 minutes of opening.
Passed Josh Cribbs and Joe Haden throwing craps, on the way to Poker room.

The room itself was pretty awesome.
You walk straight into the podium when you leave the escalator on the 3rd floor. The walls are lined with giant TV's, and pictures of all the Big Named Pros.

The tables are spaced well, and you have plenty of room for drink carts, another chair, or even a wheelcair (which was at my table)
The tables themselves do not have a betting line, which may bring about future problems.
I thought the chairs were fine, but maybe because I didn't have a need to adjust it?
You could use your cell phone at the table as long as it didn't slow down play.
Last call was strickly enforced. The guy sitting next to me lost his beer, LMAO.

The Dealers were slow but that is to be expected on the 1st night of a new place. They were all friendly, and trying hard. Only had a couple of misdeals at my table all night.

The restrooms are close, cage in the room, no smoke to smell, and no slots banging in your ears like Rivers.

The 1st table to actually go off was a 2/5 NL game, which contained some priority players that were let in at 6pm.
I was at the 2nd 1/2 NL game to open. (didn't want to sit at the 1st one) We were each given a WSOP OHIO CASINO COIN with a number on it by the poker room manager Jeremy.

The parking is a a non issue as long as you pay attention to your card being comped. 1 hour of poker is enough to get a free parking pass (17 credits I believe) It was also simple to get your parking redemed. Just walk downstairs and run your players card through a machine to get a receipt for the attendent.

I went to the buffet at midnight, (awesome by the way), and when came back, the room was half full. When I left at 3am, there were several 3/6 limit, 10+ 1/2NL's, 2-2/5NL, and 2-1/2PLO.

The games themselves had plenty of action, with most people buying in for the max or close to it.
There wont be any tournaments until sometime in July according to the Manager.
The bad beat is 2222 or higher for Holdem.

All in all, this room has the potential to be the best of the best.
