How was the action yesterday?

pretty good. Place was packed and fairly juicy. Room did a great job of filling any empty seats. Biggest complaint was a group of 4 guys that were friends sat in the game at the same time and played insanely slow. I tolerated it for a while bc they were so bad, but they gotta either not sit that many guys that are friends together or give the dealers more control and power to get them to hurry up.

Dealer quality was as expected for week 3 or 4, but it was funny having a dealer say you can't buy the button. Lots of minor errors, but nothing egregious and most were friendly with a good attitude. Parking was easier than I expected too.

I did it Saturday. I might've been #2 but I guess they don't keep track after your feat. [Actually I don't know if it was "in a day" or a combo of the points and bonuses I earned from 1 month of BJ grinding. The girl said I got DIAD but I was close to the necessary point total anyways.] I got the card and went straight to the lounge... and wasn't all that impressed (yet, but I hear Vegas lounges are better). They said they will start having a buffet of free food next Saturday (April 6), the drinks were marginally cheaper (beers were $3.50 instead of $4) and they had a selection of fine drinks available on the menu(Dom, Cristal). Since Cincinnati is so new and most people got their points outside of Ohio, it was almost deserted and quiet in there, which was a nice change of pace from the floor. At one point there were 7 employees and 5 patrons in the lounge. Nice place to charge my phone (which dies quickly at the casino).

On a side note, since you brought up Video Poker and I might as well mention this for others thinking of visiting, I think all of the machines are 9/5 JOB and not 9/6... even the $5 ($25 max) and $10 ($50 max) machines.

I played $1/$2 yesterday. I played on 2 separate tables, and I must say both tables were collectively the worst group of players I've ever played with.

I've played alot at Horseshoe in Louisville and the games are much tougher there.

I think it has to do with the $50min $200max. That seemed to attract a lot of inexperienced players. There were just a lot of tight players nursing a short stack. A decent loose aggressive player could run over both tables I played.

I really hope this room increases the tier credits to 34/hr for 2/5. No reason there are only 3-4 2/5 games running on a friday and saturday night and a million 1-2's.

Will be visiting with local g/f in tow. Would they allow her to pull up a chair behind me and watch the game for a bit? If not, any close place to rail and have a drink?

Yeah, that's fine. There is a nice bar not too far from the poker room if you want to take a break and have a drink.

If it's late on a Friday or Saturday when you arrive with her, she won't be able to sit with you.

Thanks for the info, guys. Would probably be late afternoon or early evening on Saturday. And not for long as I'm figuring she'd get bored with it.

They all do.

Good, we had two 5/10 and two 1/2. It was a little slower this week I think due to nice weather and people being played out from the opening month rush.

Finally made it Sunday. I don't have one single thing to complain about the casino experience (except for the variance and my donk play)! I am afraid the quality of the poker room is so superior to Hollywood right now that this could become a monopoly for the area. Too bad , comp is better, and Hollywood is easier to get to for me! I don't care much about the rest of the stuff there, but the poker room was absolutely great for a rec player like me!

I was there yesterday afternoon/evening for the first time on Sunday myself. played 1/2 and had a guy in a blue hoody with red letters that was clearly the table captain... he cashed out with about $1100. He essentially had more than almost everyone else together. It was a good time and I managed to make just shy of $200 so not bad as I dont get to play but 1 or 2 times a week. Other than blue hoody, maybe 2 others I was concerned at all about, but he was clearly the most agressive. Also I appreciate the dealers trying to deal fast, but I think some of them are trying to go TOO fast and would be helped by slowing it down just a bit.

Both Ohio and Indiana released March revenue numbers today. Hollywood's overall revenue was down 25%, the poker room was down 43% (from 535k to 306k). Surprisingly (at least to me) Hollywood beat the Horseshoe in overall revenue 28M to 21M. In fairness Horseshoe wasn't open the first 3 days of March (which was a weekend) so April will be more of an apples to apples comparison. While more people visited Horseshoe, the average Hollywood visitor spent over twice as much as the average Horseshoe visitor ($122 vs. $58).

I had a friend who played 3 card poker or something along those lines and the dealer kept paying out on non winners. So surely they will become more efficient in the future.
