You said that H wood and downtown game selection/ buy ins were exactly the same when in fact, they aren't remotely close.

My guess is that $5/$10 will run just as much as $2/$5 ran at Hollywood because it's the exact same game. So 1 or 2 tables on a reg night and maybe 3+ on the weekend. It will be interesting to see how much more $$$$ downtown can bring out.
5/10 downtown has a 500-2k buyin. It will rarely get off except on weekends. I still believe 2/5 needs a 1k buyin. It's not the same exact game. Time will tell I guess.

I'm also curious to see how often 5/10 NL runs. Most of the Hollywood regs who would play seem to prefer PLO, although there's been some talk of having a weekly game. I just don't see it running on a daily basis though. I think a 5/5 game 300-1000 would work better as an option for a regular game above 2/5.
My main contention with 2/5 Tom is it will play less than 100BB. Hollywood's 1/3 actually allows for deeper stack play relative to blind. If your biggest NL game with a multi-table player pool is 100BB/500 cap it will hurt the game.

I understand what you're saying. The problem is that there's no 1/3 game now so 2/5 is the "step up" game from 1/2. If you raise the cap to $1000 then you're rarely going to get 1/2 players taking shots. It will leave a hole in the middle between 1/2 and 2/5. I think the right way to look at it is that 2/5 is the new 1/3 and there needs to be a new "big" NL game. If 5/10 proves to be too big then a 5/5 300-1000 might be the way to go. At any rate, the place has been open for all of 12 hours, I think the best thing to do is just give it a few weeks and see how things play out.

Do you mean help the game? Check out how healthy games with low-BB caps are across the country. The only place I can think of that might be an exception to low-BB caps equaling healthy games might be Parx's 10/10 game.

It's completely non-smoking inside. They have four outdoor smoking patios for smokers.

I don't think they allow those either. I've been watching the Horseshoe's facebook page and there was someone on there complaining they they tried to use an e-cig and was told they're not allowed.

What is the casino like compared to Cleveland and Columbus? Cleveland is small and very cramped in the main floors compared to Columbus. Where would you rate Cincinnati? Oh, and is the parking garage free (ala Cbus) or do you have to pay (ala Cleveland)? I'm looking to go all day this Saturday... Thanks!

It's more open like Columbus. Cleveland's cramped because they used an old department store building; Cincy and Cbus were built from the ground up. The decor is very similar to Cleveland though since they're both Horseshoes. Parking is free on weeknights after 6 and all day on the weekends. During the week it's $1/hour but you can get it comped with 30 minutes of slot or table play or an hour of poker play.

$6 + 1 for the BBJ on 5/5 NL/PL games and lower. $8 per 1/2 hr on 5/10 NL/PL and up.

Not at Horseshoe Southern Indiana, where I usually play. It's not a big deal, I just like to buy in a little deeper than 100bbs usually.

i went yesterday and thought it was pretty well run overall. you def need to keep an eye on the dealers though. multiple times they tried to make someone be the BB twice in a row and a couple times people had to correct them on the betting amounts.

Holy crap a mixed game list in Ohio, according to Bravo anyway. 10/20 mix sounds like heaven. Any word on the rotation? Or what non-NLHE/Omaha games they might be up for even? Columbus and Cincinnati are literally equidistant from where I stay and that would make the choice not even close.

I sat next to the Vet (i forget his name) who plays 1-2 in seat 1 in the mornings with the pretzel nuggets. He always brings a big backpack with food and drinks. I asked him about it and he said he spoke to the casino manager and told him about his diabetes and such before he came today. He said he had no trouble bringing in his backpack this morning. I brought in a Sobe too this morning with no issue. They only had one person checking people in and didn't seem too concerned. But like everything else, everyone is learning the systems and policies and you may get someone who says something different.

There is a 6/12 limit holdem game going on tonight. Wonder if that will be a game that sticks here.

What night? I've been talking with a few people as well about getting one going at least weekly. Saturday probably would be the best, but I think there is a good chance a table or even 2 may run any way on the weekends.

I'll be playing most nights of the week once every thing is settled down and will play any time it's offered. I think many of the $2/$5 players at HW will eventually just play $5/$10 after being used to a $1k max any way. I think it's fair to say that a lot people aren't thinking # of BB's anyway and just think of it as a $1,000. 100BB deep is def the norm most places though.

I hope so. I am pleased to see it's still running at 3:30am on a snowy Wednesday morning, albeit Grand Opening + 1 day.

Last I heard it discussed they were talking about Monday. This was a couple months ago though. If I hear anything new I'll let you know.

Wasn't Wednesday a big PLO day at hollywood? Judging by the interest list already this morning looks like its made the move to Cincy. But I guess that was already a given.
