20 tables running at the time and they selected my table for the high card for a $400 tourney entry for tomorrow(today I guess really). 8 people at the table, 2 opted out because they could not play..One card to go and it looks like five high may win.. last card is the Jack of hearts. Obviously it was likely something higher than five was gonna be the last card, I would rather not have it happen that way...I dont know that I really wanted to play the tourney anyway, but when your in the moment, you start thinking what if I win the seat, blah blah blah. And lol at the guy at the table who was saying he would have paid the other five players $30 each to not take a card/give him the tourney entry. I guess I dont blame him for trying, but I dont think $30 would really be enough for most people to opt out.

5/10 LHE never gets going...I dont know that 10/20 has ever even had an interest list that I can recall.

No. I've started or joined a list several times and it never went anywhere. When the room first opened we got 6/12 LHE going a few times, but most of those players preferred 6/12 OHE and play that when it goes. Unfortunately 3/6 is the only LHE action you'll get anywhere in the area.
Fortunately for me though I moved to Arizona where 4/8, 8/16 and 20/40 LHE go regularly. If anybody thinks this sounds familiar this is Wayne, a 3/6 regular there. If you know me say hi.

I'm thinking there is a correlation between LHE being more popular in Arizona and Arizona being 1 of the premier spots to be old and retired.

No, that's not the reason. The reason is that NL hold em cash games are not legal in the casinos in Arizona. They can only offer fixed limit and spread limit games. But the spread limit games are big spreads, like 5-150 or something like that. Most of the time they play much like NL games though.
But for what it's worth the fixed limit games have lots of young people, although I grant you that the average age in the fixed limit games do tend to skew a bit older. For the record I am in my 40s (do you consider that old; maybe you do) and certainly not retired. Luckily there are still enough of us who consider fixed limit to be a superior game around that it is thriving here.

I was just poking a little fun haha. I didn't know that about AZ though, interesting.

I didn't mean old in a bad way, all the limit games I see run just tend to be the older* crowd.

What do you think of the 1-2 games at the cincy shoe? How do you rank the players (weekdays vs weekends).

Any recommendation on how to do well there?

Weekdays can be pretty nitty, especially during the day but the action lately has been better for some reason. I would say it is at least 60-75% regs during the week. The best strategy is these games is to build and steal in position. I would say the 3 bet range in the majority of the games is QQ or better 90% of the time.

I had my best night ever this week, +$1250 in 4 hours without any monsters...just the rare table where people wanted to give it away. So those can happen here.

I don't play much on weekends but like any good sized room there will be a large increase in action especially at night.

Nice catch!
Do you play only during a week for a specific reason?

It's live $1/$2, the games are not even close to tough even in the day time. Obviously the day time games will always be nittier, but that doesn't = hard to beat.

I think that depends on how good you are. I'm still experiencing swings at that level. Clean I'm not that good.

Swings will come no matter how good you are, but in general pretty much all $1/$2 games live are soft.

This. I've never been at a 1/2 table at this casino that didn't have at least 1-2 guys with a vpip > 70

What are the keys to your success in $1/2?
What don't you do that would otherwise get you in trouble?

I agree with you. Problem is that in a table with 6 regs and 2 aweful players you are fighting with 6 players for the right spots.

I take it that playing in position is key.

Isolate preflop instead of flatting and playing a 4 way pot. Playing aggressive is about all it takes to run over a low stakes live table.

Of course but this is true no matter which stakes you play.
