Also have been impressed with dealer quality and customer service. However, the registration rules for the big $25 K are nuts, making everybody go in on Sunday at a specific time to wait in line, knowing that many will not be allowed to register for the Tuesday Tournament due to capacity constraints.
I sat next to a guy who ran his $100 rebuy after initial bust up to $1200 while I sat there getting terrible cards. It was quite a sight to see over the course of several hours. At this same $1/$2 table, 3 other players had over $600 at times...the max initial buyin is $200, so not everyone is hamstrung by nits!
Anybody have opinions on Friday night Madness Tourney? I tried it and realized the value of the Deepstack was overwhelmed by the Blind escalation amounts (not so much the minutes length of each level). It became a shovefest in less than 2 hours. Not so great.
The $100 giveaway every two hours is often great odds. One time I had 2 out of the 10 total tickets they were gonna draw from. I lost, but several players told me they have won the $100 multiple times.
Overall, I like this place more than Cleveland and Hammond and Lawrenceburg...for $1/$2. But I wish they would make Omaha available regularly.
I've also been playing here several times lately for the freeroll entry, which I did actually end up getting a seat to on Sunday.
Overall, I think the dealers are nice, but I'd say about half are a tad incompetent. A lot of times I find myself correcting them when making side-pots or having to count out stacks when a player is all in. A lot of them don't seem to know some of the more complex rules, or at least don't demonstrate knowing them. This hand for example:
Player A goes all in on a 98x flop. Players B and C call, both having Player A covered. The turn is a 9. Player B shoves. Player C hems and haws wondering what to do, and asks Player B what he has. Player B says he has "trips with the best kicker." Player C complains that she has a good hand and he shouldn't have bet, and then folds. Player B turns over A9 and Player A has TT and bricks the river. The pot is pushed to B and nobody says anything regarding the table talk, including the dealer.
I said toward both B and C that they really shouldn't be talking like that in a hand. Player B says they're heads up and it doesn't make a difference, I explain that it does make a difference since there is still a 3rd player with a hand and a pot he is eligible to win. Still the dealer says nothing.
Not a huge deal, but things like this bother me in case I'm ever in a spot where that action could have affected my pot.
Besides the dealers being clueless at times, this is my most preferred place to play a tournament. They're the closest place to me that has regular tournaments with decent structures and antes. Most of my trips have been so I could get a seat in the freeroll tomorrow, but I will continue to drive the extra 20 miles for a decent tournament.
Plus the waitresses there are gorgeous.
