First to ask if the tournament actually went off today and other details - number of runners, etc.

Just talked to a friend of mine who went down today. They drew 130+ runners for the first day but could only accomodate 120. Had to turn 10+ away. They payed out the top 16. Friend said it was $2.5K+ for first place. I'll be on my way Wednesday

Didn't turn 10+ away, used alternates system. Tourny took about 7 hours for just over 130 players. Ran rather smooth and organized. 1st paid around $2700.

Really that many? I would have never guessed. So that practically filled the entire room, right? I'll be interested to see how the rest of the week goes. I was planning on heading up for the Pot limit Omaha on Friday. Anyone figure even close to that number for Omaha?

Not even close. 50 Will be pushing the upper limit, imo

I would be happy with 50. Any word on todays MTT? Any numbers? I can't see that number continuing especially after evening MTT's start.

The first 120 people to enter the tourney get to sit down and play. The rest of the entrants get seated one by one as people get knocked out of the tournament.

[QUOTE=Dirges;24104568]I'm the poker host at Hollywood and I can confirm that we had 130 the first day of tournaments, all players got in and the winner got $2700 (no split even though at one point they were even chips)

can you (or anyone else) tell me how many players you got for tues and today (wednesday) and also, are the wed and thrus 7:00 tourneys no limit hold em also? and is there a max number of people that you will cut off at for sign ups?

thanks for your help.

It's nice to know someone from Hollywood checks out this forum. It's sad no word on yesterdays or todays MTT. Yet. How bout a Twitter account like Mohegan?

So only 2 MTT's in the evenings? What about a cheaper MTT, maybe on Sat-Sun say at 10 am?

Tuesday was mid-40's or maybe even 50. Wednesday was 63. Tons of people didn't sign up for tourny Tuesday cuz of the snow coming in that afternoon/evening and didn't want to be tied up if area got hit hard. Wednesday was slower in the morning (only 1 cash table until about 11am) likely due to same reason. Seemed everyone showed up the same time as myself as tourny sign-ups went from 10 to 60 and cash games went from 1 to a handful (was in tourny for a while so didnt catch how many) within just 1-2 hours. Seems like people ventured out once they realized the roads weren't bad anymore.

Weds and Thursday night tourny's are NL. Its on their website...all are NL except Friday noon is PLO.

There are 16 tables in the room, so upwards of 200 entrants for the tourny would fill it? Assuming alternates are used, etc. Rough guess. A weekend bounty or something would be nice to see at some point....if they had the room.

I played in today's (Wednesday) MTT, can let you kno anything you'd like.

I've heard this is how they will do tournies for now, and things should progress or expand over time assuming the results are good/constant. SNG's would prolly be a next step as well?

would I need to get there early on Monday to register to ensure I get a spot since it is a holiday for a lot of people?

Played in the room a few times this week and they have announced that they will not run the noon tournament this Monday because of the holiday --they want to keep the tables open for cash games. Can anyone else confirm this?

On another note, anyone else heading down for the PLO tourney today? Would love to get an Omaha 4-8 hi/lo with a kill going this afternoon.

As they have only really been having success getting an O8 game going recently, I'm hoping that the tournament will help to potentially get a straight pot limit game (hi) going.
It's probably as simple as wanting less runners on a Friday due to cash table needs. An omaha torunament will have less people, which keeps more tablles open for cash on a Friday which is a busy day. It makes business sense to me.

I saw the sign - no tourney on Monday. The PLO tourney today had 40 or 41 entrants. I played in it. First live MTT. I guess it was a good learning experience. I thought it was nicely run - no issues I saw.

I learned I play way too tight especially in the beginning. I also learned thats it pointless to read poker books, especially on Omaha since they don't teach you how to deal with people who apparently don't read the same books. And that bad beats happen in real life and not just on-line or on ESPN to Phil Helmuth.

This stood true today, Around 1 or 2pm, with tourny and cash in swing, all but 3 or 4 tables were in use. This stayed all thru the afternoon and eventually filled the rest of the way at night. Good action. If a Friday tourny was NL, they'd need more tables.

Did they ever get a 3/6 going on Friday? If so, about when?

It definitely did go. Not sure what time though. I know at about 9:30PM, I heard them announce, on the speaker, that there was open seating at 3/6.

What is the starting chip stack? I'm wondering if 2000 chips for $5 is a good investment. It all depends on what you initially get for $65.
